Suggested January 2024 Adobe Redoubles Ux Design Focus With Free Xd Starter Plan, New Design Fund, More

As part of a larger philosophical goal to empower designers and propel entrepreneurs and creative teams forward, Adobe today announced several new tools for user experience design and a significant financial investment into the future of the creative community. 9to5Mac talked with Khoi Vinh, Adobe’s principle designer, and Cisco Guzman, group product manager for Adobe XD about the announcements and Adobe’s vision for the future of the design industry.

While Adobe continues to direct a significant amount of energy toward building digital tools for artists of many disciplines, an increasingly important aspect of the company’s work relates to empowering and educating creative professionals outside of an app. The Adobe Fund for Design is a new, $10 million initiative to support teams that are building creative products and services that shape the future of their industries.

“We have to engage designers and those who build on top of XD and Creative Cloud to transform it into a world-class platform for UX design,” said Vinh, speaking about the fund’s goals. Adobe is seeking out talented individuals and early-stage companies that demonstrate their commitment to empowering the creative world as ideal candidates to benefit from the fund. Resources will be distributed throughout the community in the form of grants and investments, and Adobe encourages customers, developers, and entrepreneurs to apply today.

As competition in the space of creative applications becomes increasingly crowded, Adobe’s scale enables it to serve the market in a way other companies simply can’t. While the company has plans to expand the fund’s scope in the future, it launches today with an initial focus on a relatively new tool, Adobe XD. The decision to pour resources into user experience design was informed, in part, by a survey of 251 hiring managers conducted by Adobe last year. Vinh noted “The survey found that nearly 9 in 10 said that adding more UX design expertise to their organization was a top priority.”

It is perhaps then of little surprise to learn that Adobe has also announced several new features and enhancements for Adobe XD CC, and given us a little sneak peek into the future of the software. “Prior to officially releasing XD, we incubated the tool for nearly two years in the design community,” said Guzman.

Adobe XD was first previewed in October 2023 and initially called Project Comet. A series of public previews throughout 2023 and 2023 helped Adobe gather user feedback before formally releasing XD at last fall’s Adobe MAX conference. In the months that followed, regular updates have added features like Design Specs and third-party integrations.

Swap Symbols: You can now swap symbols on the design canvas by dragging a symbol from the assets panel and dropping it directly onto the symbol you want to replace. From there, all copies of the symbol on the canvas will automatically be replaced.

Paste to Multiple Artboards: Simply copy any object to the clipboard, select one or more target artboards and paste. Your content will be placed in the same X and Y location on the target locations. If the target artboard is smaller than the source artboard the content will be centered.

Password Protected Design Specs: Further adding support for password protection on prototypes in our last release, we’ve extended this to published Design Specs (Beta), so now you can share both prototypes and design specs with a password being required to view them by stakeholders.

For many, the most significant addition in May’s update will be a new, free Starter Plan that makes available XD’s core features to everyone on both macOS and Windows. Free users will receive a small amount of cloud storage and be limited to sharing one prototype and one design spec at a time, with an upgrade option available.

One of Adobe’s new Font Packs.

Vinh points to the Adobe blog and tutorial websites for examples of the company’s dedication to education, specifically in UX design. The company also offers an annual Creative Residency Program to support talented, young individuals. In addition, Adobe is today releasing five free UI design resources for XD and six new Font Packs available with every Creative Cloud subscription.

For existing Creative Cloud subscribers, the May update to XD will be rolling out shortly. New members can now choose from Adobe XD’s free tier, a single app subscription for $9.99/mo, or the full Creative Cloud plan for $52.99/mo. Registration for Adobe MAX 2023 is also now open. This year’s creativity conference will be held from October 15-17th in Los Angeles.

Love UI/UX Design? Check Out Student-Run FORGE Design Studios Club hosts virtual three-day national designathon this weekend

Do your eyes light up when you encounter a sleek user interface? Does a cleverly designed logo leave you feeling oddly satisfied? Have you ever called any part of an app “sexy”?

FORGE Design Studios, BU’s preprofessional design organization and agency, might be the club for you.

“FORGE acts as a place where students can connect with one another and learn about the incredibly diverse field within design,” regardless of their major or background, says FORGE executive vice president Jessica Man (ENG’22). “Design itself spans so many areas, from graphic design, user interface and user experience [UI/UX] design, and publication design to engineering product design and branding. Resources shouldn’t be limited to just one college or major.”

This weekend (March 26 to 28), the club is hosting Catalyst 2023, a nationwide virtual UI/UX “designathon.” Over the course of three days, participants will compete in teams of two or three to solve a real-world design challenge, build prototypes of an app or website, and present their finished product to industry professionals. There will also be workshops hosted by staffers from Adobe and Sketch—like how to prototype with Adobe—as well as networking sessions and merch.

The best part: Catalyst 2023 is totally free and open to undergraduates from anywhere in the States, irrespective of design experience.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about design, collaborate with others, and get experience building a product designed for a specific challenge,” says FORGE founder and executive president Emme Enojado (CAS’21). “I personally found out about UX design from a designathon my sophomore year of college. If I hadn’t attended, I never would have learned about UX design or decided to pursue it as a career. So I’m excited to see how people can learn from Catalyst and get inspired by it as well.”

The designathon begins at 7 pm sharp Friday. Last year’s inaugural Catalyst was for just the BU community and drew about 30 attendees. So far, more than 200 students are registered for Catalyst this year, Enojado says, and only 40 percent or so are from BU. The other attendees come from schools around the country—including Rice University, Northwestern, Texas A&M, the University of Washington, MIT, and USC.

Catalyst is just one of the club’s undertakings. Enojado founded FORGE in November 2023 (it was then called the BU Design Club), envisioning it as a “design community” for students to not only learn about the field of design, but also to gain practical design experience. FORGE runs its own apprenticeship and internship program, called FORGE Labs. As apprentices, students are matched with a mentor in the club to learn design basics. As interns, they use their skills to work on projects for actual clients, ranging from web and brand design to graphic and UI/UX design.

Since its launch last summer, FORGE Labs has taken on a dozen clients and produced professional work for businesses from Massachusetts to Georgia. The lab’s repertoire includes all kinds of projects: websites, logos, social media campaigns, educational materials—even product packaging. Several companies have hired FORGE to execute a full suite of services—among them Valiant, a financial-planning service, and Mindful Applicant, a college-admissions start-up. Both have logos, brand guides, social media assets, and redesigned websites courtesy of FORGE.

“The goal for the client work is to give students valuable design and work experience to add to their résumés and portfolios,” Man explains. “It can be hard to get internship experience [as a non–design major], so we really wanted to bridge that gap between students and the design industry itself.

“Additionally, we offer pro-bono design services for BIPOC-led organizations,” she says, “which allows us to help our communities as college students. We may not always have the monetary funds to support causes that we care about, but we can always use our skills and knowledge to be active members of our community.”

FORGE currently has approximately 200 members, drawn from across the University. Enojado been blown away by how much progress the club has made. “It’s been really amazing to see this club grow,” she says. “Our team has really remained resilient and passionate about the mission that we have to bring skills, knowledge, and community to BU’s design space. So I’m grateful for my team and for the members who supported us—it wouldn’t be anything without the members who have been there along the way.”

What Is A Research Design

A research design is a strategy for answering your research question using empirical data. Creating a research design means making decisions about:

Your overall research objectives and approach

Whether you’ll rely on primary research or secondary research

Your sampling methods or criteria for selecting subjects

Your data collection methods

The procedures you’ll follow to collect data

Your data analysis methods

A well-planned research design helps ensure that your methods match your research objectives and that you use the right kind of analysis for your data.

Step 1: Consider your aims and approach

Before you can start designing your research, you should already have a clear idea of the research question you want to investigate.

Research question exampleHow can teachers adapt their lessons for effective remote learning?

There are many different ways you could go about answering this question. Your research design choices should be driven by your aims and priorities—start by thinking carefully about what you want to achieve.

The first choice you need to make is whether you’ll take a qualitative or quantitative approach.

Qualitative approach Quantitative approach

Understand subjective experiences, beliefs, and concepts

Gain in-depth knowledge of a specific context or culture

Explore under-researched problems and generate new ideas

Measure different types of variables and describe frequencies, averages, and correlations

Test hypotheses about relationships between variables

Test the effectiveness of a new treatment, program or product

Qualitative research designs tend to be more flexible and inductive, allowing you to adjust your approach based on what you find throughout the research process.

Qualitative research exampleIf you want to generate new ideas for online teaching strategies, a qualitative approach would make the most sense. You can use this type of research to explore exactly what teachers and students struggle with in remote classes. Quantitative research exampleIf you want to test the effectiveness of an online teaching method, a quantitative approach is most suitable. You can use this type of research to measure learning outcomes like grades and test scores.

It’s also possible to use a mixed-methods design that integrates aspects of both approaches. By combining qualitative and quantitative insights, you can gain a more complete picture of the problem you’re studying and strengthen the credibility of your conclusions.

Practical and ethical considerations when designing research

As well as scientific considerations, you need to think practically when designing your research. If your research involves people or animals, you also need to consider research ethics.

How much time do you have to collect data and write up the research?

Will you be able to gain access to the data you need (e.g., by travelling to a specific location or contacting specific people)?

Do you have the necessary research skills (e.g., statistical analysis or interview techniques)?

Will you need ethical approval?

At each stage of the research design process, make sure that your choices are practically feasible.

Step 2: Choose a type of research design

Within both qualitative and quantitative approaches, there are several types of research design to choose from. Each type provides a framework for the overall shape of your research.

Types of quantitative research designs

Quantitative designs can be split into four main types.

Experimental and

quasi-experimental

designs allow you to test cause-and-effect relationships

Descriptive

and

correlational

designs allow you to measure variables and describe relationships between them.

Type of design Purpose and characteristics

Experimental

Used to test causal relationships

Involves manipulating an independent variable and measuring its effect on a dependent variable

Subjects are randomly assigned to groups

Usually conducted in a controlled environment (e.g., a lab)

Quasi-experimental

Used to test causal relationships

Similar to experimental design, but without random assignment

Often involves comparing the outcomes of pre-existing groups

Often conducted in a natural environment (higher ecological validity)

Correlational

Used to test whether (and how strongly) variables are related

Variables are measured without influencing them

Descriptive

Used to describe characteristics, averages, trends, etc

Variables are measured without influencing them

With descriptive and correlational designs, you can get a clear picture of characteristics, trends and relationships as they exist in the real world. However, you can’t draw conclusions about cause and effect (because correlation doesn’t imply causation).

Correlational design exampleYou could use a correlational design to find out if the rise in online teaching in the past year correlates with any change in test scores.

But this design can’t confirm a causal relationship between the two variables. Any change in test scores could have been influenced by many other variables, such as increased stress and health issues among students and teachers.

Experiments are the strongest way to test cause-and-effect relationships without the risk of other variables influencing the results. However, their controlled conditions may not always reflect how things work in the real world. They’re often also more difficult and expensive to implement.

Experimental design exampleIn an experimental design, you could gather a sample of students and then randomly assign half of them to be taught online and the other half to be taught in person, while controlling all other relevant variables.

By comparing their outcomes in test scores, you can be more confident that it was the method of teaching (and not other variables) that caused any change in scores.

Types of qualitative research designs

Qualitative designs are less strictly defined. This approach is about gaining a rich, detailed understanding of a specific context or phenomenon, and you can often be more creative and flexible in designing your research.

The table below shows some common types of qualitative design. They often have similar approaches in terms of data collection, but focus on different aspects when analyzing the data.

Type of design Purpose and characteristics

Case study

Detailed study of a specific subject (e.g., a place, event, organization, etc).

Data can be collected using a variety of sources and methods.

Focuses on gaining a holistic understanding of the case.

Ethnography

Detailed study of the culture of a specific community or group.

Data is collected by extended immersion and close observation.

Focuses on describing and interpreting beliefs, conventions, social dynamics, etc.

Grounded theory

Aims to develop a theory inductively by systematically analyzing qualitative data.

Phenomenology

Aims to understand a phenomenon or event by describing participants’ lived experiences.

What can proofreading do for your paper?

Scribbr editors not only correct grammar and spelling mistakes, but also strengthen your writing by making sure your paper is free of vague language, redundant words, and awkward phrasing.

See editing example

Step 3: Identify your population and sampling method

Your research design should clearly define who or what your research will focus on, and how you’ll go about choosing your participants or subjects.

In research, a population is the entire group that you want to draw conclusions about, while a sample is the smaller group of individuals you’ll actually collect data from.

Defining the population

A population can be made up of anything you want to study—plants, animals, organizations, texts, countries, etc. In the social sciences, it most often refers to a group of people.

For example, will you focus on people from a specific demographic, region or background? Are you interested in people with a certain job or medical condition, or users of a particular product?

The more precisely you define your population, the easier it will be to gather a representative sample.

Population exampleIf you’re studying the effectiveness of online teaching in the US, it would be very difficult to get a sample that’s representative of all high school students in the country.

To make the research more manageable, and to draw more precise conclusions, you could focus on a narrower population—for example, 9th-grade students in low-income areas of New York.

Sampling methods

Even with a narrowly defined population, it’s rarely possible to collect data from every individual. Instead, you’ll collect data from a sample.

To select a sample, there are two main approaches: probability sampling and non-probability sampling. The sampling method you use affects how confidently you can generalize your results to the population as a whole.

Probability sampling Non-probability sampling

Sample is selected using random methods

Mainly used in quantitative research

Allows you to make strong statistical inferences about the population

Sample selected in a non-random way

Used in both qualitative and quantitative research

Easier to achieve, but more risk of research bias

Probability sampling is the most statistically valid option, but it’s often difficult to achieve unless you’re dealing with a very small and accessible population.

For practical reasons, many studies use non-probability sampling, but it’s important to be aware of the limitations and carefully consider potential biases. You should always make an effort to gather a sample that’s as representative as possible of the population.

Case selection in qualitative research

In some types of qualitative designs, sampling may not be relevant.

For example, in an ethnography or a case study, your aim is to deeply understand a specific context, not to generalize to a population. Instead of sampling, you may simply aim to collect as much data as possible about the context you are studying.

In these types of design, you still have to carefully consider your choice of case or community. You should have a clear rationale for why this particular case is suitable for answering your research question.

For example, you might choose a case study that reveals an unusual or neglected aspect of your research problem, or you might choose several very similar or very different cases in order to compare them.

Step 4: Choose your data collection methods

Data collection methods are ways of directly measuring variables and gathering information. They allow you to gain first-hand knowledge and original insights into your research problem.

You can choose just one data collection method, or use several methods in the same study.

Survey methods

Surveys allow you to collect data about opinions, behaviors, experiences, and characteristics by asking people directly. There are two main survey methods to choose from: questionnaires and interviews.

Questionnaires Interviews

More common in quantitative research

May be distributed online, by phone, by mail or in person

Usually offer closed questions with limited options

Consistent data can be collected from many people

More common in qualitative research

Conducted by researcher in person, by phone or online

Usually allow participants to answer in their own words

Ideas can be explored in-depth with a smaller group (e.g., focus group)

Observation methods

Observational studies allow you to collect data unobtrusively, observing characteristics, behaviors or social interactions without relying on self-reporting.

Observations may be conducted in real time, taking notes as you observe, or you might make audiovisual recordings for later analysis. They can be qualitative or quantitative.

Quantitative observation Qualitative observation

Systematically counting or measuring

Taking detailed notes and writing rich descriptions

All relevant observations can be recorded

Other methods of data collection

There are many other ways you might collect data depending on your field and topic.

Field Examples of data collection methods

Media & communication Collecting a sample of texts (e.g., speeches, articles, or social media posts) for data on cultural norms and narratives

Psychology Using technologies like neuroimaging, eye-tracking, or computer-based tasks to collect data on things like attention, emotional response, or reaction time

Education Using tests or assignments to collect data on knowledge and skills

Physical sciences Using scientific instruments to collect data on things like weight, blood pressure, or chemical composition

If you’re not sure which methods will work best for your research design, try reading some papers in your field to see what kinds of data collection methods they used.

Secondary data

If you don’t have the time or resources to collect data from the population you’re interested in, you can also choose to use secondary data that other researchers already collected—for example, datasets from government surveys or previous studies on your topic.

With this raw data, you can do your own analysis to answer new research questions that weren’t addressed by the original study.

Using secondary data can expand the scope of your research, as you may be able to access much larger and more varied samples than you could collect yourself.

However, it also means you don’t have any control over which variables to measure or how to measure them, so the conclusions you can draw may be limited.

Step 5: Plan your data collection procedures

As well as deciding on your methods, you need to plan exactly how you’ll use these methods to collect data that’s consistent, accurate, and unbiased.

Planning systematic procedures is especially important in quantitative research, where you need to precisely define your variables and ensure your measurements are high in reliability and validity.

Operationalization

Some variables, like height or age, are easily measured. But often you’ll be dealing with more abstract concepts, like satisfaction, anxiety, or competence. Operationalization means turning these fuzzy ideas into measurable indicators.

If you’re using observations, which events or actions will you count?

ExampleTo measure student participation in an online course, you could record the number of times students ask and answer questions.

If you’re using surveys, which questions will you ask and what range of responses will be offered?

ExampleTo measure teachers’ satisfaction with online learning tools, you could create a questionnaire with a 5-point rating scale.

You may also choose to use or adapt existing materials designed to measure the concept you’re interested in—for example, questionnaires or inventories whose reliability and validity has already been established.

Reliability and validity

Reliability means your results can be consistently reproduced, while validity means that you’re actually measuring the concept you’re interested in.

Reliability Validity

Does your measure capture the same concept consistently over time?

Does it produce the same results in different contexts?

Do all questions measure the exact same concept?

Do your measurement materials test all aspects of the concept? (content validity)

Does it correlate with different measures of the same concept? (criterion validity)

For valid and reliable results, your measurement materials should be thoroughly researched and carefully designed. Plan your procedures to make sure you carry out the same steps in the same way for each participant.

Sampling procedures

As well as choosing an appropriate sampling method, you need a concrete plan for how you’ll actually contact and recruit your selected sample.

That means making decisions about things like:

How many participants do you need for an adequate sample size?

What inclusion and exclusion criteria will you use to identify eligible participants?

How will you contact your sample—by mail, online, by phone, or in person?

If you’re using a probability sampling method, it’s important that everyone who is randomly selected actually participates in the study. How will you ensure a high response rate?

If you’re using a non-probability method, how will you avoid research bias and ensure a representative sample?

Data management

It’s also important to create a data management plan for organizing and storing your data.

Keeping your data well-organized will save time when it comes to analyzing it. It can also help other researchers validate and add to your findings (high replicability).

Step 6: Decide on your data analysis strategies

On its own, raw data can’t answer your research question. The last step of designing your research is planning how you’ll analyze the data.

Quantitative data analysis

In quantitative research, you’ll most likely use some form of statistical analysis. With statistics, you can summarize your sample data, make estimates, and test hypotheses.

Using descriptive statistics, you can summarize your sample data in terms of:

The distribution of the data (e.g., the frequency of each score on a test)

The central tendency of the data (e.g., the mean to describe the average score)

The variability of the data (e.g., the standard deviation to describe how spread out the scores are)

The specific calculations you can do depend on the level of measurement of your variables.

Using inferential statistics, you can:

Make estimates about the population based on your sample data.

Test hypotheses about a relationship between variables.

Regression and correlation tests look for associations between two or more variables, while comparison tests (such as t tests and ANOVAs) look for differences in the outcomes of different groups.

Your choice of statistical test depends on various aspects of your research design, including the types of variables you’re dealing with and the distribution of your data.

Qualitative data analysis

In qualitative research, your data will usually be very dense with information and ideas. Instead of summing it up in numbers, you’ll need to comb through the data in detail, interpret its meanings, identify patterns, and extract the parts that are most relevant to your research question.

Two of the most common approaches to doing this are thematic analysis and discourse analysis.

Approach Characteristics

Thematic analysis

Focuses on the content of the data

Involves coding and organizing the data to identify key themes

Discourse analysis

Focuses on putting the data in context

Involves analyzing different levels of communication (language, structure, tone, etc)

There are many other ways of analyzing qualitative data depending on the aims of your research. To get a sense of potential approaches, try reading some qualitative research papers in your field.

Spring Design Alex Gets Hands

Whether or not Barnes and Noble liked it enough to copy it, Spring Design’s Alex prototype dual-display ebook reader is certainly nifty enough to capture our interest.  MaximumPC had a chance to go hands-on with the Alex, which has a 6-inch e-ink screen up top and a 3.5-inch color capacitive touchscreen underneath for control and navigation, as part of a Marvell demonstration for the company’s new ARMADA 166E SoC.

The ARMADA 166E bundles together an applications processor and display controller, and supports up to 3fps e-ink video; not enough to replace your HDTV, perhaps, but certainly better than what we’ve seen to-date.  There’s also wireless support, including WiFi and 3G, and a new zero-power consumption hibernate mode.

As for the Alex, MaximumPC found the dual-display design particularly useful for speedily locating the specific content you want to read: the LCD updates far faster than the e-ink panel.  The pay-off is the fact that it’s thicker than, say, Amazon’s Kindle, to fit in a larger battery and the mechanics of the secondary screen.  The Spring Design Alex should be on the market by the end of the year.

Press Release:

Marvell and E Ink Join Forces to Deliver a Radical New Generation of Faster, Lower Power Ultra Thin E-readers for Mass Markets

Consumer Breakthrough: Marvell Gets to Market First with a Total Solution for Innovative New E-readers at a Variety of Anticipated Price Points

Santa Clara, California (November 3, 2009) — Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a world leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced its collaboration with E Ink, the supplier of electronic paper display (EPD) technologies for most of the world’s e-readers. The two companies have begun to ship a highly integrated e-reader processor available in complete turnkey platforms aimed at the fast-growing e-reader market. These new platforms are expected to accelerate the rapid release of new forms of e-readers at a variety of price points.

“With this announcement, Marvell raises the technology bar and takes the lead in the e-reader market,” said Ms. Weili Dai, Marvell’s Co-founder and Vice President and General Manager of the Company’s Consumer and Computing Business Unit at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. “Because this is a total platform solution – including Marvell key technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G modem, and power management – the ARMADA e-reader has the potential to deliver the first mass market product accessible and affordable to billions of consumers around the world. Marvell’s passion is to give consumers more choice, improved features, and greater access to more information with e-readers that are aimed at education, health, and business applications.”

As one of the fastest growing consumer markets, e-readers continue to grow in popularity due to falling retail prices, improved features, and fast growing library of digital content. According to a recent iSuppli Research report, e-readers are projected to top 18 millions units shipped in 2012, from 1.1 million units last year.[1]

Marvell and E Ink have been working together and co-developing products for the ePaper market. The recently signed agreement between E Ink and Marvell includes joint development and cross licensing of next generation ePaper timing controllers and system platforms, which the companies anticipate will result in higher integration and lower cost solutions for e-reader manufacturers.

“Our collaboration with Marvell will deliver an integrated System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solution to the market,” said Sriram Peruvemba, Vice President of Marketing at E Ink. “This SoC solution is aimed at offering highly desired features at competitive price points.”

Central to this new e-reader platform is the world’s first commercially available SoC that integrates a high performance processor and state of the art EPD controller on a single chip — the Marvell ARMADA® 166E application processor. The ARMADA™ 166E is designed to offer users ultra fast renderings of high resolution PDF documents and support for the latest ePaper technologies in new smaller, slimmer form factors with lower system cost than the competition. The ARMADA 166E also brings to e-readers new features that save power and extend battery life including a unique hibernation mode, or zero power mode.

The two companies have also joined forces with FirstPaper, LLC, to integrate unique technology into the ARMADA 166E. This joint innovation enables a range of display sizes and resolutions, including support for larger screens that will deliver layouts, graphics, and content choices that people normally associate with periodicals, larger-format books, and documents.

Customer Support

Customers have sampled and integrated the Marvell ARMADA and E Ink based e-reader platforms into their end solutions — consumer ready e-readers are expected to be available to end-users in 2010.

“The enTourage eDGe is the industry’s first dualbook, combining an E-Ink reader with a netbook, notepad and audio/video player and recorder into one central device,” said Asghar Mostafa, President and CEO of enTourage Systems. “The ARMADA 166E gives the enTourage eDGe the power it needs to meet people’s multiple, yet simultaneous digital needs, at an attractive price point within reach of all consumers.”

“Marvell’s support was a key enabler in Plastic Logic’s development of a high performance e-reader to meet the needs of business professionals,” said Frank Canova, VP Product Engineering for Plastic Logic. “Plastic Logic plans to unveil the category’s first proReader on January 7 at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show.”

“During our development of the Alex Reader — a dual screen e-reader that incorporates both e-ink for high contrast e-reading, and color LCD screen for multimedia playback and enhanced Web browsing, Marvell was the clear choice,” noted Albert Teng, Founder and CTO at Spring Design. “We needed a processor that could run Android while delivering outstanding multimedia performance.”
