A bike mount is one of my favorite accessories. Whenever I’m up for a ride, I make sure to use it for smooth navigation.

Roam has introduced a highly appreciable bike mount called Co-Pilot. It allows you to securely mount your smartphone on the handlebar.

Thanks to the hard plastic grip coupled with the silicone net, it keeps your device steady. Plus, the 360-degree rotation ensures you have no problem in placing your device in the desired orientation.

That’s pretty much it!

12 Best Iphone 7 And Iphone 7 Plus Accessories You Should Buy

There is no doubt that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are great phones. They have one of the best smartphone cameras available today, and the iPhone 7 Plus has two of them, and they come in two entirely new (and really great) colors, as well. A lot of people are definitely going to buy them. However, as great as iPhone’s are, there are a plethora of accessories available for them, that can make these smartphones even better. So, for all of you who are planning on buying the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus, we have curated the 12 best accessories that you can (and should) buy to make your experience with the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus even better.

1. Lightning Headphones for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

Now that Apple has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack from the latest iteration of their iPhones, it really leaves people with only one wired option: use lightning headphones. Apple will be including lightning earpods with every iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that they sell, but let’s face it, earpods don’t sound all that good, and for anyone who wants a better experience, third party lightning headphones are probably the best way to experience music on the iPhone now.

Audeze Sine

The Audeze Sine are audiophile quality headphones that use planar magnetic technology to produce sound. They have a much better bass, as well as better transients than most other headphones out there, along with extremely low distortion. Since they use the lightning port, they come with a built-in DAC, and an amplifier built right into the cable, so you can basically bypass your iPhone’s DAC and use the headphone DAC. The headphones also come with integrated Siri support.

Philips Fidelio

If you’re not an audiophile, or if you simply can’t justify spending $500 on a pair of headphones, then you can consider the Philips Fidelio. These headphones from Philips also use a lightning cable to connect to your iPhone, and they come with an integrated DAC and amplifier. The frequency response offered by the Fidelio is great, ranging from 7 Hz to 20kHz.

The construction of the Philips Fidelio is aluminium with stitched leather, so they look nice and feel like a premium pair of headphones should. The sound is good, and for travelling, and generally carrying them around, they come with a faux suede pouch.

2. Bluetooth Headphones for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

If you completely hate the idea of using the lightning port on your iPhone for connecting your headphones, then you can choose to go wireless with Bluetooth headphones as well. Bluetooth headphones have gotten a lot better in the last few years, and the improving quality of Bluetooth audio was also probably one of the reasons that Apple decided to do away with the 3.5 mm audio jack on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Bose Soundlink On Ear Headphones

The Bose Soundlink on ear headphones are a pair of really great headphones from Bose, that can give up to 15 hours of playback on a single charge, on a Lithium ion battery that can be recharged. So, you don’t need to mess around with replacing batteries and such. If that was not enough, the headphones get fully charged in around 90 minutes, and even a 15 minute charge is enough to keep them going for another 2 hours.

The headphones claim to have a state of the art interface and voice prompts to make the process of pairing them with your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus easier. They come with dual microphones to reduce background noise when you are taking a call using the headphones, and the earcups on the headphones can be rotated the way you want them to be. If you are a frequent traveller and would like to carry your bluetooth headphones around, the Bose Soundlink fold down for easy storage in a headphone case.

JBL E40BT Wireless Headphone

If the price tag on the Bose Soundlink seems too high to you, but you don’t want to compromise on the sound quality and brand trust, you can go with the JBL E40BT Wireless Headphones. These headphones from JBL boast 40 mm drivers for a full audio spectrum and clarity, along with an earcup based microphone for echo cancellation.

The battery used in the JBL E40BT is a rechargeable Lithium ion battery that can give up to 16 hours of playback on a single charge. They also come with noise cancellation and a proprietary ShareMe technology with which users can share the audio playing on the headphones with any other ShareMe enabled devices that they might have.

3. Car and Bike Mounts for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

If you regularly drive a car, or ride a bike to work, then you should also invest in a good car or bike mount, to keep your phone safe in the car, while keeping it easily accessible so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road in case you need to refer to maps for navigation, or something. Here are the best car and bike mounts that you can buy.

Vibrelli Universal Bike Mount

If you don’t use a car and prefer to ride a bike to work, then the Vibrelli Bike Mount is the best way for you to keep your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus handy without the risk of accidentally dropping it off your bike. The mount comes with an adjustable clamp that can fit phones up to 5.5″ in size, so it can easily handle the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Silicone straps on the four corners of the mount ensure that your phone remains stable and does not slip out of the mount while riding, while ensuring that you get access to the entire phone screen, and all the buttons and the mic on your iPhone. The silicone straps come in three colors (red, black and grey) that you can swap out when you like, and match your style.

4. Running Armbands for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

If you are a fitness freak and like to listen to music while on a run, then you should definitely consider investing in an armband for your iPhone. Armbands can keep your phone secure while running, along with providing easy access to the phone, should you need it. So, here are the best armbands that you can buy for your iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus.

MoKo Sports Running Armband

The MoKo sports running armband is a lightweight, water and sweat resistant armband that will serve you faithfully on all your runs. It comes with an adjustable velcro band, and can easily accommodate a wide range of arm girths. Along with that, the armband has a reflective strip, so you can run safely in low light conditions, without having to worry about incoming traffic not being able to see you.

MoKo gives a lifetime warranty on the armband, so you can just put it on and go for a run, without worrying about it at all.

Sparin Sports Running Armband

Another great alternative to the MoKo armband comes in the form of the Sparin sports running armband. The armband is made out of a high quality neoprene, which is flexible and elastic, but does not lose shape. It also includes a velcro band in order to accommodate a variety of arm girths, so you don’t need to worry about whether or not it will fit you.

5. Screen Protectors for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with a Retina HD display, that is claimed to be brighter than any other iPhone available in the market. The display also boasts of a wide color gamut, and is generally really nice to look at. That is exactly why you should invest in a good quality screen protector for that brilliant screen on your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Spigen iPhone 7 Screen Protector

This screen protector from Spigen is one of the best for your brand new iPhone 7. It is a pack of two screen protectors, so you can swap the first one out when it gets old, and scratched. The screen protector is extremely clear in order to preserve the brilliant screen brightness that the latest iPhones offer.

It also comes with an oleophobic coating to prevent oil buildup on the screen, and keep it clean and spotless. Inside the pack you will also find a microfibre cloth, a dry/wet cleaner as well as a dust removing sticker, to get you going with the Spigen screen protector. The application of the screen protector is easy, and it comes with a manual anyway, in case you need any guidance.

If you are planning on (or already have) bought the iPhone 7 Plus, then you can consider using the iPhone 7 Plus screen protector. This screen protector, also from Spigen, comes in a pack of two. It is extremely clear, and preserves the brilliant screen brightness that the iPhone 7 Plus offers. It comes with an oleophobic coating to prevent oil buildup on the screen and keep it clean and spotless. The application of the screen protector is easy, and it comes with a manual anyway, in case you need any guidance.

Note: There are a lot of great screen protectors available for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, for more options, check out our article on the best iPhone 7 Plus screen protectors.

6. Protective Cases for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

While the design of the iPhone looks beautiful enough to make anyone wish that they didn’t need a case on it, the fact remains that if you want your iPhone to look as good after a couple of months as it did when you first bought it, you will have to use a case. So take a look at these cases that you can buy for your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Spigen Premium Bumper Case for iPhone 7

The Spigen bumper case for the iPhone 7 comes with shock absorbing patterns on both the interior and the exterior of the case. It is fingerprint resistant and comes in a slim profile, with dual layer protection for your iPhone 7. The case offers military grade protection, along with air cushions for reducing shock impact. The grip on the case is comfortable and secure, making it a good case to consider buying for the iPhone 7.

Note: To see what other cases you can choose from, for your iPhone 7, check out our article on the best iPhone 7 cases.

Caseology Modern Slim Case for iPhone 7 Plus

The Caseology Modern Slim case for the iPhone 7 Plus comes with trendy, geometric designs on the case. It has a three dimensional moulding, and soft coatings for a comfortable, yet secure grip. It is available in a wide variety of colors, and comes with a coating to prevent discoloration over time.

Note: There are a lot more cases to choose from, and you can check out our article on the best iPhone 7 Plus cases to see the entire list.

7. Docks for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

If you’re the kind of person who likes to have a dock on your desk to keep your iPhone on, then you should definitely consider these docks for your new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple iPhone Lightning Dock

The official dock from Apple is extremely minimal in design and gives an iPhone a look like it’s floating above the desk. It definitely looks good, and goes with the overall design philosophy of the iPhone. It is available in five metallic finishes, to match your iPhone’s color, and can charge and sync your iPhone at the same time, if connected to your Mac. The dock also provides users the ability of using the phone while it is docked.

TKHOT Charging Dock Stand

If you’re looking for a cheaper dock than the official Apple Lightning dock, you should definitely consider this one. The TKHOT Charging Dock is small and easy to carry around, if you need to. It offers charging and sync support, just like the official dock, and while it should work with slim cases, it might not work with cases that are too thick for the dock to be able to accommodate them. That being said, it does hold the device firmly in place while offering full access to the buttons and the mic on the iPhone.

8. Lightning Adapters for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter

Apple will bundle one of these adapters inside every iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus box that they sell, but it’s pretty obvious that people are going to lose these things all the time. Fortunately, Apple will sell these adapters separately as well, and for a rather reasonable price, as far as Apple accessories go. This adapter will basically let you connect your 3.5 mm headphones into your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar

This adapter from Belkin is probably the best solution that is available for the problem of listening to music while charging the iPhone. The adapter basically splits the lightning port on the iPhone into two lightning ports, each of which can then be used simultaneously. So you can connect the charger in one of them, and plug your lightning headphones into the other one, and enjoy (albeit cumbersomely), music while charging your iPhone.

9. External Speakers for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will have stereo speakers, and that should definitely improve the sound quality of the phones quite a bit. However, there is no substitute for a good external speaker, as far as good sound goes. So here are the best speakers that you can buy for your iPhone, and enjoy your music the way it was meant to be.

Bose SoundDock XT Speaker

The Bose SoundDock is a docking speaker for your iPhone. It charges your iPhone via the lightning connecter built right into it, while playing music from the phone. The speaker has been designed in a way that it provides the full audio spectrum in a compact size. If you ever want to use another device with the speaker, it does come with an AUX port that you can plug into. Over-all, the speaker is a great accessory for the iPhone that can charge the iPhone while playing music from it.

Bose SoundLink Color Bluetooth Speaker

If docking your iPhone everytime you want to listen to music is not something that you want to do, you should consider getting the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker. The speaker, as the name suggests, uses Bluetooth to connect with your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and contains a Lithium-ion battery that can provide 8 hours of playback on a single charge.

The speaker provides a full audio range, and pairing it is easy with the voice prompts that it comes with. It can also connect two devices at the same time and let you switch between them easily, so you can make another device play a song as soon as a song on the first device ends.

10. External Storage for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive

The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is an external storage drive that you can connect to your iPhone and immediately get added storage. It uses USB 3.0 to get a high speed during file transfer, and comes with file protection software so you can set passwords on your files, preventing any other user from viewing them. So you can simply connect the iXpand to your iPhone, and transfer all the large movies, videos, and images that you have stored on your device.

The files stored on the iXpand Flash Drive can be viewed directly from the drive itself, so you won’t even need to copy them back onto your phone. Simply connect the drive to your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and watch all the movies that you have stored on the flash drive.

11. Selfie Sticks for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

Personally, I don’t take a lot of selfies, but many people do, and with the new 7 MP front facing iSight camera on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, there is definitely going to be a big reason to take selfies with the iPhone. Well, for all you selfie lovers, here are the best selfie sticks that you can buy for the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

Mpow Selfie Stick

The Mpow Selfie Stick is a great selfie stick for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It uses Bluetooth to connect with your iPhone. The head on the selfie stick can be rotated 270º, giving you ample amount of flexibility to find the perfect selfie shot, no matter where you are. The Mpow Selfie Stick also includes a wrist strap, to provide additional safety to both the stick, and the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus on the end of it.

12. Powerbanks for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

While Apple claims that the battery life on the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is much better than the last generation iPhones, the fact remains that iPhones still don’t have a great battery life, and for people who use their iPhones extensively, the battery life probably doesn’t even last a full working day, making power banks a necessity.

Mophie Powerstation Plus

The Mophie Powerstation Plus is one of the powerbanks that Apple mentions on their official accessories page. It claims to add up to 21 hours of additional backup to your iPhone, which should be enough for most people. The power bank has a capacity of 3000 mAh, which doesn’t sound all that great, but it does come with 2.4A current output, to allow for a fast charging experience on the iPhone.

Buy for $79.15 on Amazon

Anker PowerCore 10000mAh

The Anker PowerCore boasts of a massive 10000mAh capacity, along with high speed charging, and all that in a small form factor so it doesn’t even look all that bulky. It comes with a travelling pouch, so you can carry it around while travelling without worrying it at all. The PowerCore comes with an 18 month warranty as well.

If you’ve ever woken up and, groggily lumbering toward the bathroom, started the day by tripping over an iPhone charging cable, you know you felt no shame audibly cheering the first time you used a MagSafe accessory. MagSafe, Apple’s magnetic connector for electronic devices, started as an improvement for MacBook power cords in 2006. But it was with the introduction of the iPhone 12 in 2023 that the MagSafe name became synonymous with the much wider world of wireless power transfer and magnetic attachment products. Having a phone and a MagSafe-compatible charger saves you the problem of having the right cord with the right connector that’s the right length to be lined up just right; when that green circle lights up the iPhone screen, one less worry fills your mind. Not every MagSafe accessory involves power but they do all involve that feeling of security. Here’s our selection of the best MagSafe accessories to make sure your iPhone is fully charged and fastened when and where you need it to be.

How we chose the best MagSafe accessories

As gadget geeks and serial upgraders, many of us have a recent iPhone. And considering how many devices we regularly test, requiring us to keep track of yet another interconnect, being able to wrangle one less tangle is a godsend. This is why we are both fans and intimate friends with many MagSafe accessories. Combining this firsthand experience with peer recommendations, critical reviews, and user impressions, we put together a list of potential inclusions from top manufacturers—including Belkin, Mophie, OtterBox, and more—then narrowed down the dozens of options to these picks.

The best MagSafe accessories: Reviews & Recommendations

MagSafe is a quality-of-life improvement you didn’t know you needed, but once you have it, you don’t understand why you didn’t this whole time. Here are our top picks for some of the best MagSafe accessories, focusing on accessories that offer charging.

Why it made the cut: This unassuming silicone-clad slab packs a sweet suite of Apple device chargers into a low-profile accessory.

Specs

Dimensions: 9.8 x 5 x 3.66 inches

Weight: 1.74 pounds

Power: Up to 15W MagSafe

Pros

Charges iPhone, Apple Watch, and wireless earbuds simultaneously

Full 15W MagSafe charging capability

Apple Watch Series 7 fast charge supported

Apple Watch can be charged flat or in Nightstand mode

Cons

Not the cheapest charging pad

Fans of maximized minimalism will love this Belkin 3-in-1 charging stand. It’s an Apple enthusiast’s simplest solution for charging all the essentials, with dedicated spots for a MagSafe-compatible iPhone, an Apple Watch, and wireless-compatible AirPods.

Despite being a three-device dream, it’s an unassuming silicone-clad slab—available in Black or White with a soft-matte finish and subtle chrome accents—and it’s a lay-flat design that can be easily packed for on-the-go use. The MagSafe iPhone platform offers full 15W charging, with or without an official MagSafe case on your device (an included 40W adapter ensures the full output). While the Watch puck is adjustable, allowing any size Watch to be oriented as an alarm clock in Nightstand mode—and enabling fast charge for compatible Apple Watch Series 8 models. And the AirPods panel includes an LED indicator, so you know the wireless charging is active.

Stable without being too hefty, the Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE PRO is the top third-party MagSafe charger and fills an important gap in Apple’s own offerings.

Best charging dock: Nomad Base One Max charger

Why it made the cut: Nomad’s Base One Max is a sturdy 2-in-1 Made for iPhone-certified charger made of metal, glass, and soft-touch rubber.

Specs

Dimensions: 7.44 x 3.54 x 1.8 inches

Weight: 2 pounds

Power: Up to 15W MagSafe, Requires 30W charging brick

Pros

Beautiful design

Weight keeps it anchored

Apple Watch charges in Nightstand Mode

Cons

Pricey

Doesn’t support Apple Watch 7 fast charge

Doesn’t come with a charging brick

Nomad’s Base One Max is a hefty 2-in-1 charger that emphasizes design and utility. Available in Carbide or Silver, it features a solid metal and glass design along with subtle soft-touch accents to keep your devices protected, and it looks and feels more like a centerpiece rather than just another accessory.

The integrated Apple Watch charger props up the wearable in Nightstand Mode, while the 15W MFi MagSafe pad provides a satisfying thunk every time you place your iPhone down to charge. The charging pad is also compatible with other Qi-enabled devices so that you can charge your AirPods in between Zoom meetings.

Although the Base One Max is heavy at 2 pounds, its weight allows it to stay anchored when you reach for your device, and the rubber base ensures it won’t move around. The Base One Max comes with a 6-foot braided USB-C cable, but you’ll have to supply your own charging brick. It also doesn’t support fast charge on the Apple Watch.

While the Base One Max is pricey and not as transportable as our best overall pick, its thoughtful, high-quality design makes it one of the most elegant MagSafe options for a designated iPhone charging station.

Why it made the cut: Simplify your packing without sacrificing anything with this elegant wireless charging solution.

Specs

Dimensions: 0.4 x 12.3 x 3.2 inches

Weight: 9.92 ounces

Power: 7.5W, 15W MagSafe

Pros

Compact yet complete charging suite

Sophisticated aesthetics

Apple Watch can be oriented in Nightstand mode

Cons

As pricy as a permanent pad, but not as solid

Classy as it is convenient, the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe is an easily packable trifold charger that comes with all the accessories needed, all tucked within an elegant felt organizer. Inside this backpack, briefcase, or maybe even belt bag-friendly case, you’ll find three pockets for the charger, a 30W USB-C PD wall adapter, and an included 1m USB-C to USB-C cable.

Best car mount: Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE Magnetic Wireless Car Charger

Why it made the cut: This vent-mounted charger helps you steer without your iPhone sliding around and driving you crazy.

Specs

Dimensions: 1.68 x 3.98 x 5.43 inches

Weight: 3.35 ounces

Power: Up to 10W

Pros

Easily mounted/removed on a vehicle air vent

Keeps phone secure, accessible, and charged during navigation

Cons

Requires you to run a cable from the console to charge

Placement might require some adjusting, based on vent blades

It may not quite be the jetpacks that the future promised, but having a MagSafe mount in the car definitely changed how I travel for the better. Securing my iPhone conveniently as fast, if not faster, than I fasten my own seatbelt, not having to fish out a charging cable, then detaching the phone just as expediently when I get to my destination is perhaps the greatest expression of MagSafe’s life-changing properties.

Easily clamped to an air vent, the Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE magnetic wireless charging mount holds an iPhone firmly within sight even when traffic patterns shift abruptly. If you must keep an eye on a screen for navigation purposes (I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt you won’t play videos or other distractions while driving), it’s far better to situate your phone in an optimal place to the side of the steering column rather than have you fumbling for it with only one hand on the wheel.

In addition to firmly holding the phone in place (in either vertical or horizontal orientation), the Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE can be plugged into (what was once) the cigarette lighter with the included 20W USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 car power supply and charge your iPhone while driving. This helps compensate for energy-intensive programs like Waze and Google Maps keeping your display and GPS continually active. The road may be full of bumps, but at least your phone won’t flip or its battery dip with this convenient accessory.

Best phone case: Otterbox OtterGrip Symmetry Series

Why it made the cut: Enter the world of MagSafe without having to get rid of a phone grip.

Specs

Dimensions: 6.02 x 3.11 x .53 inches

Weight: 1.76 ounces

Power: N/A

Pros

Combines MagSafe compliance with easy grip

Durable

Doesn’t interfere with phone buttons

Cons

OtterGrip not a complete replacement for the PopSocket

More of a phone grip than a phone stand

Thanks to increasingly more content and the pixels needed to display it, smartphones have gotten bigger and bigger over the last decade. For people with the small, dainty hands of a 19th-century child working in a watch factory, phone grips like PopSockets provided a handle to prevent some accidental drops and smartphone pinky. However, these add-ons meant that anyone using one could never fully experience the convenience of MagSafe—an iPhone‘s back cover has to be easily accessible so that compatible accessories can sit flush and align their magnetic array. Sure, you can buy a PopSocket that attaches using MagSafe, but then you’re taking it on and off and potentially losing it. That changes with the Otterbox OtterGrip Symmetry Series case, originally announced in January 2023 at CES and now available. The OtterGrip gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to have an integrated phone grip and use any of the MagSafe chargers, mounts, batteries, etc., you see on this page. Simply pull the grip away from the case to use it, and snap it back in place when you decide to place it on a wireless charger or car mount. The grip also rotates 360 degrees for ergonomics.

If you use a PopSocket-like grip for a phone stand, however, you might want to pass on the OtterGrip case—it’s hard to balance the phone and get it to stay in place without the grip snapping back into place. The OtterGrip isn’t a one-to-one replacement for the PopSocket in terms of feeling, and there is some getting used to the experience. But being able to use MagSafe and feel more secure when you’re holding your expensive pocket computer is worth the learning curve.

Best battery: OtterBox wireless 5K mAh power bank

Why it made the cut: Two-sided MagSafe compatibility adds versatility to this potent pint-sized battery backup.

Specs

Dimensions: 6.69 x 4.25 x 0.39 inches

Weight: 6.5 ounces

Power: 5W Qi, 7.5W MagSafe

Pros

Magnets on both sides allow connections to a phone and mount simultaneously

Wireless input and wireless output

LED indicators for charge status/battery life

Cons

No magnetic stabilizing strip leaves the opportunity for the power bank to rotate

Not the biggest capacity available in a wireless power bank

The Otterbox wireless 5K mAh power bank tops the battery category not only because of what it can hold and also how you can hold it. It doesn’t have the capacity of, say, Belkin’s equally recommendable BOOST↑CHARGE Wireless Charger 10K, but only holding half the charge means it also takes up less space—a huge plus for pocketability (though the battery has the potential to rotate/become unaligned if you’re power-walking with purpose). And 5K is enough to fully recharge any iPhone 13 once (or the iPhone 13 mini twice).

What really stands out with this power bank is that it has MagSafe on both sides, meaning you can attach it to a MagSafe charger with your iPhone simultaneously attached, topping off both in the process. I actually store one on a Satechi 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand so it’s primed and ready to easily peel off in case I’m leaving the house without my iPhone at 100%. And if I was without that convenient perch and succumbed to a cable, I could use the bidirectional USB-C port to charge the power bank, as well as to charge my phone.

Things to consider before buying the best MagSafe accessories

If you have an iPhone 12, iPhone 13, or iPhone 14 of any size/sort, you can access MagSafe. And if you have a debit or credit card, you can access the MagSafe accessories presented here. But before you invest in new accouterments, you might have some questions. And that’s why we’re here.

So, how exactly does MagSafe work?

MagSafe uses a series of internal magnets ringing an iPhone’s charging coil to snap securely to compatible accessories. This assures that any attachments are properly lined up, which is particularly valuable for optimized wireless charging. As for how magnets work in general, that is a tale of electrons spinning and atoms aligning and a miraculous mystery for another time. But when magnetized objects of opposite poles enter each other’s magnetic fields, they are as strongly attracted to each other as a long-time Apple fan is to hearing “… and one more thing.”

Do I need MagSafe accessories?

No. If you are a connoisseur of cables—each one personally, painstakingly labeled as to what it is for—then keep enjoying those curled-up keepsakes and a Jenga-like set of power bricks. USB-A to Lightning, USB-C to Lightning … you do you. Being hardwired to the wall will continue to work … for now (we have no insight into Apple’s plans to discontinue ports on iPhones). And if you always have or prefer to secure your phone in a dashboard-mounted vice while driving, don’t switch up what works for you. So, no, you don’t need MagSafe accessories. But if you’ve gotten tired of trying to find a convenient place to plug in a somehow always slightly too short cable, or finding out that the cable you desperately need to save you from an imminent power-down has a short in it, you definitely may want MagSafe accessories. And don’t even get me started as to how convenient a MagSafe car mount is … (OK, get me started but wait till we get to our top pick in that category, please.)

Do I need a MagSafe case for my iPhone?

To charge wirelessly, no, you don’t need a MagSafe case. But to attach additional accessories to your iPhone while it’s in the case, yes, you need a MagSafe case. Plus the MagSafe system in the case helps alleviate any concerns that it might fall off.

If I buy a MagSafe accessory, does it need to be “Made for MagSafe” to work?

No, though it can’t hurt. There are plenty of “MagSafe compatible” options with the magnetic ring that lets your iPhone snap to them with the precision needed to stay and/or charge properly. We even recommend some. But the “Made for MagSafe” badge does bring some benefits. It means that the device can support 15W charging (12W for iPhone mini models), rather than the 7.5W charging of “MagSafe compatible” alternatives (and more watts=faster charging). To get maximum output, however, be sure you have at least a 20W USB-C PD adapter for the charging pad. In addition, the near-field communication between “Made for MagSafe” charging devices means you get the undeniable satisfaction of seeing your iPhone’s screen light up with the curling green MagSafe animation that guarantees authenticity and efficiency.

Can I charge anything other than my iPhone with a MagSafe pad?

Sure, you can place anything with Qi-enabled wireless charging on a MagSafe pad and the battery will fill. However, the device won’t snap into place so you won’t know if it’s set down correctly and there’s nothing to stop it from getting knocked off the pad accidentally. There are Android devices, and optional cases, that do have magnetic rings in them, which solves that problem, but Android devices don’t replicate the alert an official MagSafe charger gives when it comes into contact with an iPhone.

The Best Laptops You Can Buy In 2023

Adam Birney / Android Authority

If you’re searching for a new laptop, you might be overwhelmed by the number of options. There’s nothing wrong with that — there are more macOS and Windows laptops than ever before. But how do you figure out which one is worth your money? Here’s our list of the best laptops on the market to help you narrow it all down!

We’ll list a few choices at different price levels and then move on to specialty machines. Ready? Let’s dig in.

Mid-range

Chromebooks

Gaming

Business

Editor’s note: We’ll refresh this list of the best laptops as new options launch.

Asus Zenbook 14: Our best Windows laptop pick

Asus was once only best known for making high-performance PC parts, but it’s starting to build a name for itself in the laptop space too. The Zenbook 14 delivers great everyday computing in a slim and lightweight package. Better yet, it doesn’t even break the bank.

The base model Zenbook 14 packs Intel’s 12th-gen i5 processor and 8GB of RAM. But it’s the 90Hz OLED display that’s the star of the show. It goes up against the likes of the Macbook Pro’s mini-LED display, which costs twice as much as the humble Zenbook 14.

The Asus Zenbook 14 is a great pick if you want a premium-feeling laptop with high-end specs and an all-day battery.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5

Calvin Wankhede / Android Authority

It’s impossible to make a list of the best laptops without mentioning Microsoft’s beautifully designed laptops. The Surface Laptop 5 is the latest iteration of the company’s flagship.

The sleek metal design houses a minimum of a 12th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, a 13.5 or 15-inch touchscreen PixelSense display, and 8GB of memory. Of course, you can opt for the more powerful Intel Core i7 chip if you want to truly put the Surface through its paces. It’s also available in two finishes: Alcantara and metal. The former is unique in that it offers a soft and padded palm rest, which you won’t find on any other laptop.

The Surface Laptop delivers up to 18 hours of battery life and charges quite quickly as well. All in all, the Surface Laptop 5 mates Microsoft’s vision for hardware with its own Windows 11 operating system.

MacBook Air (M2 Chip)

Oliver Cragg / Android Authority

While many affordable laptops opt for the Windows operating system, the M2-powered MacBook Air is a great way to test macOS without breaking the bank. It’s a lighter, wedge-shaped alternative to the MacBook Pro, and it still packs plenty of power for just about everyone.

Backing up the laptop is the in-house Apple M2 processor. You won’t have to choose different versions of the M2 chip, so it’s not too confusing. The new MacBook Air comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. We’d recommend the 16GB RAM variant, however, as it delivers plenty of future-proofing.

The MacBook Air is available in Midnight, Space Gray, Silver, and Starlight, so you can match it to the rest of your Apple products. No matter which color you select, the brilliant Retina display just might make you forget about the rest of the laptop.

Best high-end laptops

If you’re able to drop a bit more money on the latest and greatest, these picks are for you. Here you’ll find the most powerful options for the everyday user. From powerful processors to premium build quality, these laptops show off just what portable computing has become.

The picks:

Dell XPS 13

Dell

It’s getting challenging for Dell to find flaws to fix on the newest XPS 13, yet somehow they’ve managed to make it even better. The bezel is even smaller, the processor is even more powerful, the ports are even fewer — well, that’s not a perk, but it’s what happens when you want to pack the most power around.

Dell’s crisp 13.4-inch InfinityEdge display runs on the latest 12th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with up to 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. Better yet, the display is made of durable Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and tuned with Dolby Vision for brighter colors and deeper shades of black, backed up by Intel’s new Iris Xe graphics. You can grab the Dell XPS 13 in Platinum Silver or Frost White, each with a backlit keyboard.

Dell XPS 15

Dell

If you love the Dell XPS family, but a 13.4-inch screen just isn’t big enough for you, Dell has recently refreshed the bigger and badder XPS 15 as well. The overall design looks familiar to the smaller version, but Dell has cranked everything to 11.

The screen is stretched out to 15.6-inches, and a UHD Plus touchscreen is available if you have the funds. Beneath that screen, you’ll find a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 or i9 chip, up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3050 Ti graphics, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and up to 2TB of SSD space. Dell adds a third USB-C port to complement the two Thunderbolt 3 options.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

Ryan Haines / Android Authority

Samsung creates displays better than just about anyone else in the business. So what happens when you bring one of those displays to a laptop form factor? You get the powerful Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra doesn’t hold back when it comes to internals either — it boasts a 16-inch AMOLED display along with an Intel Core i7 or i9 processor. You also get 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

However, Samsung’s Ultra model differs from its smartphone counterpart in that it doesn’t support the S Pen. If you need stylus functionality, you’ll be better served with the Galaxy Book 2 Pro instead.

Best Chromebooks

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

If you’re looking for a lightweight operating system that boots up quickly, a Chromebook might be your best bet. Chromebooks rely on Chrome OS — and Google apps — to get the job done. This means that some heavy-duty tasks won’t be possible on Chromebooks, though they excel in average jobs like browsing and streaming.

Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

Lenovo’s IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook is a follow-up to the excellent Chromebook Duet. The clever 13.3-inch OLED Chromebook tablet is an upgrade from the older 10.1-inch one. Not only is the display new and better, but you’re also getting some high-quality hardware under the hood.

The IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook is also one of the more value-for-money options on this list. It’s available with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 SoC onboard. You can snag 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, solid options for this device. The Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook is a perfect portability option as it weighs in at 1.5 pounds, with an extra 0.7 pounds for the Folio keyboard.

Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet tablet comes in a Storm Gray finish that is understated, but still rather attractive.

A gaming option: Acer Chromebook 516 GE

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

The third Chromebook on our list is the Acer 516 GE, one of the first gaming Chromebooks on the market. Whether you’re interested in gaming or not, this is a powerful laptop that’s capable of just about anything you could do in a web browser. Of course, it can run many games through Steam for ChromeOS but it’s also got Android app support.

Chromebooks have traditionally been criticized for their low performance, but you get a remarkable improvement for just a few hundred dollars more. The Acer Chromebook 516 GE also sports a sleek metallic design and RGB backlit keyboard that’s sure to look impressive in just about any setting, business or casual.

Best gaming laptops

C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

If you’ve ever tried to game on a standard laptop, you’ve probably realized just how difficult it can be. Your average machine isn’t tuned for intense gaming situations, but these choices are. With beefed-up GPUs and CPUs — and a healthy dose of RGB lighting — these are the best laptops available if you want to get your head in the game.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14

Asus

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is one of the most well-balanced gaming laptops on the market, packing plenty of power in a package that’s not too heavy or thick. Equipped with up to a Ryzen 9 processor, the Zephyrus G14 is a powerful all-around gaming machine with plenty of storage and speed.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 comes in black and white finishes, along with an optional Anime matrix display on the lid. It’s certainly an eye-catching design.

Overall, this is a great laptop for gaming on the go. What it loses in terms of power and cooling setup, you gain in portability.

Alienware x17

Alienware has found itself right at the top of the list for as long as there have been gaming laptops. Although the company doesn’t offer too many models, each has been refined to maximize power and style over the years. The Alienware x17 is no exception, and the brand-new model offers plenty of punch in a 17.3-inch design.

It’s upgraded to the 12th-gen Intel chipset, and the x17 is rocking up to a Core i9 and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics. Alienware laptops tend to be heavy, but at 21mm and 6.65 lbs, the x17 is lighter and leaner than the Area-51m. Cooling is next to godliness in gaming, so Alienware leveled up the x17 with Cryo Tech cooling that combines heat pipes, copper stacks, and four high-voltage fans.

The Alienware x17 is available with up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 4TB of SSD space to finish the tour-de-force. If you’re looking for maximum customization for your RGB keyboard, AlienFX allows you to color each key individually.

Best business laptops

For a long time, business laptops weren’t exactly the best-looking options on the market. They prioritized function over form, often resulting in hefty and unattractive machines. Those days are fading, as these final three options will show. From high-end construction to fine-tuned internals, these aren’t your parents’ work computers.

HP Elite Dragonfly G3

HP

The HP Elite Dragonfly G3 fits the bill if you want a business laptop that can make a statement in the boardroom. With a unique blue magnesium design and up to a 13.3-inch FHD touchscreen, the Dragonfly packs the power and style to command the room during a presentation.

It’s much more than just a brilliant finish, as the Dragonfly can be configured up to a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM and Intel Iris Xe graphics. HP’s spill-resistant keyboard is backlit to help you work in dark places or while you travel. You never know what your next task will be at work, but the 512GB of base storage should handle just about anything you need.

Even better, the Elite Dragonfly is a 2-in-1, so you can flip it into tablet mode if you start to lose your audience’s attention in a meeting. A privacy screen and webcam killswitch also mean that you can work without interruption, and you won’t have anyone peeking over your shoulder.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 10th Generation

Lenovo

The Lenovo ThinkPad line has long been a top option for business laptops. Lenovo took all of the best ThinkPad features and rolled them into the powerful X1 family, with the Carbon laptop as its flagship. Now on its 10th generation, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is dripping with the latest upgrades.

For starters, the newest X1 Carbon features 12th-gen Intel Core processors and up to 16GB of memory to keep you going. Lenovo even offers various screens, including a WUXGA with or without touch support, a 2.2K IPS, a 2.8K OLED, a WQUXGA option, and more.

Up to 2TB of storage and Dolby Atmos speakers help complete the setup along with USB-A and USB-C ports. It barely tips the scales at just 2.48 lbs.

Other frequently asked questions

Gaming laptops offer some of the best specifications out there, and have been offering better and better value for money in recent years. So, yes, gaming laptops are absolutely worth it, provided you pick the right one!

Chromebooks generally come with lower-powered hardware that can’t handle much gaming, and Chrome OS itself isn’t really designed for gaming. However, you can install Steam on a Chromebook to play a few games that the hardware of the Chromebook supports. Also, you can use a Chromebook for game streaming from the cloud, so that’s another way to play games on a Chromebook.

It depends on your usage. However, for general purpose usage, we would recommend at least 8GB of RAM. For more intensive tasks like gaming, or power-hungry productivity use, a higher amount of RAM is recommended, at least 32GB.

Gaming laptops come with powerful hardware, and can handle most tasks rather well. So yes, gaming laptops can be used for school.

Best Iphone Car Mount In 2023

Products at a Glance

The first attempts at a mobile telephone were developed by Western Electronic Corporation which was also the main supplier to the US Bell System, the network of landline telephones in operation at the time.

Remember the suitcase mobile phones? Well, imagine carrying around a full type 38 or 39 VHF FM Police radio in the early 1950s. This would connect to a bell located in a user’s car which would then act as a landline telephone number.

A telephone-like handset was manufactured for a better user experience which run through a selective calling decoder which helped the carphone setup connect, but ti wasn’t exactly practical.

The FM mobile bands would be split into two types of bandings by Bell, ‘Highway’ and ‘Urban’. The former would provide a business use 12 channel low band VHF service to trucks and barges on inland waterways. Urban would provide mobile telephone services for private users, with both bands going live in August and June 1946 respectively.

Just two years later in 1948, the Urban service was available in 60 cities in the US and Canada. 4000 subscribers strong handling 117,000 calls seems minuscule by today’s standards, but this is before the glory days of the Nokia 3310.

Highway had a bigger coverage area but a smaller adoption rate, with the service being live in 85 cities with a 1900 mobile subscriber base that handled 36,000 calls per month. Most highways in the east and mid-west had coverage, which came in ridiculously handy for truckers all over the US.

The problem with this technology was its size. The mobile transmitter and receiver units would be mounted in a car’s luggage compartment, taking up quite a lot of space. The telephone receiver and radio unit would usually be fixed underneath the dash in the middle of the drive and passenger seats.

Over the years, mobile phone technology has become smaller and smaller thanks to developments in smaller electrical resistors and batteries. Mobile phone adoption picked up steam almost 60 years after the Bell system mobile carphones thanks to the need for battery packs being shrunk down and built into mobile phones themselves.

Nokia rules the mobile phone space during the late 90s and early 200s thanks to the indestructible Nokia 3210/3310 line. This period also saw the introduction of text messaging and customizable handsets. Users could buy custom phone cases and key sets to make the ultimate technology statement.

Carphones aren’t really a thing in the 2023s, with newer car models coming pre-loaded with technology able to synchronize with iPhones. This makes for a hands-free experience, allowing users to use Maps, play music, and call contacts with one gesture or voice commands.

But there are still some users without a big screen on their dashboard. Even if a user did, they still need somewhere to place their phone that’s easily accessible at a moment’s notice. This is why we’ve created the best car mount for iPhone guide.

The best car mount for iPhone can even wirelessly charge iPhones if it’s supported on the device, making sure those long car journeys are supported with Apple Maps and quality music.

We’ve managed to pick the best car mounts for iPhone that fit into a user’s budget. From low-end simple clips to Alexa enabled, phone sensor mounts, we’ve got users covered.

Let’s get straight into it, here are the best car mounts for iPhone:

The Best Nas Drives You Can Buy In 2023

While many users prefer to use cloud services for backups, they aren’t always the best solution for having persistent data access or ensuring that your data remains private. For one, they come with a cost attached and offer no guarantees for how long the service will remain active. Offline access also remains a concern, and sharing files with large groups can be tedious.

A NAS drive or Network Attached Storage is the logical solution for many of those problems. It is a great solution for running your personal media server, a centralized photo storage station, or for sharing files around the house. NAS drives can even be a backup destination for all your phones and computers.

So if you’ve been looking for some of the best NAS drives on the market to roll out your own solution, the list below should help you narrow down your choice.

Practically every NAS drive on the market can be accessed via a PC or Mac. Additionally, all NAS drives support a host of protocols like FTP, making it a cinch to transfer files. Both QNAP and Synology also have a suite of Android and iOS applications to access files on the go.

Most manufacturers have a suggested list of supported drives that can give you an idea of maximum storage capacity. Since drive capacities are always going up, these lists can be outdated, and any modern NAS should be able to support currently available 16TB or 18TB options with ease though RAID performance may suffer.

Smartphones and tablets can have limited codec support, which makes hardware transcoding essential to stream video in real-time. Additionally, if you drop the video quality to save bandwidth, you will need hardware accelerated transcoding for real-time playback.
