Sometimes, firmware installation may delete everything on your device! Like, when you change the CSC of your device, knowingly or not.
Step-by-step Firmware Installation Guide
Let’s see how to install the firmware on your Galaxy A5 Active. Make sure you have more than 30% battery on your device.
Step 1. Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware file on your PC. See above for how to download correct firmware file for your Galaxy A5 Active and download links.
Step 3. Also, download Odin PC software (latest version).
Step 5. Extract the Odin file. You should get the Odin exe file (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).
Step 6. Disconnect your Galaxy A5 Active from PC if it is connected.
Step 7. Boot into download mode:
Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Volume down + Home + Power together until you see Warning screen.
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
Step 9. Connect your device now using USB cable. Odin should recognize your device. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.
You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
You can try different USB ports on your PC too.
Load the firmware files(s) on your device. This depends on how many files you got in step 4 above upon extracting the firmware .zip file.
Case 1: If you got a single .tar/.tar.md5 file, then load this into AP tab of your Odin software. Then go to next step.
Case 2: If you got more than one .tar/.tar.md5 file, then you must be having files starting with AP, CSC, Home_CSC, BL, CP, etc. stuff. In this case, choose the files as following. Select the firmware files as follows.
About CSC file: Using the HOME_CSC file won’t reset your device, and data on the phone shouldn’t be deleted. However, when we select regular CSC file, and it results in CSC on device being different than that in CSC file, your phone will be formatted automatically. You can even choose to ignore loading the CSC file, that may do alright too. But if it doesn’t works out, repeat the whole process and select CSC file this time around.
Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 of firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.
Go back to Log tab now, as it will show the progress of firmware installation when you hit start button in next step.
Wait till installation is finished, after which your device will reboot automatically. You’ll get PASS message as shown below upon successful installation from Odin.
Some errors you may run into, and with respective solution.
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the file and flash it again as said above.
If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the file again as stated just above.
That’s it. Let device restart automatically.

That the firmware for Chinese Galaxy C8 is first to hit the web isn’t very surprising, because Samsung has released the earlier handsets in C-series as an exclusive to China for first few months.

A new Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.3 firmware for the Galaxy Note — DXLP9 — is rolling out officially. Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy Note brings a premium suite of applications specifically designed for use with the S-Pen, along with general Android 4.0 updates like faster performance, Face Unlock, improved data usage management, and more.
DXLP9 is a firmware for Asian countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, but will work on any Galaxy Note out there regardless of country. Being the latest firmware to be released, you should definitely try it out.
Let’s look at the procedure to install the DXLP9 firmware on the Galaxy Note.
This firmware and the guide below are compatible only and only with Galaxy Note, model number N7000. It’s not compatible with any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone.

How to Install DXLP9 Android 4.0 Firmware on Galaxy Note
Warning! The recent Ice Cream Sandwich firmware, XXLPY, for the Galaxy Note N7000 had a serious bug. From what we can gather, the bug bricks the phone when you wipe data — that is, do a factory reset — in recovery, or flash a ROM or something in recovery after flashing the firmware. So, DO NOT use RECOVERY at all. Even transferring a large file may brick the phone, because it’s related to eMMC (sdcard). It’s said that the bug hasn’t affected all phones, and the brick rate might be 5%, which is actually pretty damn high for bug that can completely destroy the phone, we don’t even know whether Samsung service center guys would be able to fully repair it, although we think they should be able to.

Important! Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM. Use the backup guide to find out how.
Extract the downloaded zip file once to get the following files (you might see the file name end with .tar instead of .md5 as the file extension is usually hidden, so it’s normal):
SS_DL.dll [ignore this one]
Extract the contents of the Odin 1.85.zip file to a convenient location on your computer.
Disconnect your phone if it’s connected to PC, then switch it off.
In recovery, use the Volume buttons to navigate and the home/power button to select.
Select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete.
After the data wipe is complete, remove the battery of the phone, then re-insert it. Keep the phone off, and go to the next step.
Now, put the Galaxy Note in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Home + Power. A Warning! screen will come up; press Volume Up key to continue to enter Download Mode.
Important! Do not make any other changes in Odin except selecting the required file as given in step 13. Leave all other options as they are.
If you don’t get this message, then probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you’ve proper drivers installed (check step 2). Also, uninstall Kies from the Control Panel as well (this will leave the drivers on the computer but remove Kies which can interfere with the procedure).
IMPORTANT Note: If ODIN gets stuck and doesn’t seem to be doing anything, or you get a FAIL message (with red background) in ODIN, disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery, re-insert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 9.

We know you are anxiously waiting for the official release of Ice Cream Sandwich, but until then, these leaked firmware are here to satisfy your hunger for tasting Ice Cream Sandwich on your Galaxy S II. So, read on to find out how to flash it on your phone.
Although XXKPA doesn’t differ much from the previous leak, XXKP8, it’s still said to run faster and overall better in terms of touchscreen response and feel. So, we can say, it’s the best Ice Cream Sandwich leak for Galaxy S2 so far.

Install XXKPA Firmware on Galaxy S2 to get Android 4.0 ICS
Extract the downloaded file ‘I9100XXKPA_I9100OXAKPA.rar’ of XXKPA firmware to get these 7 files (the file-names may end with .tar instead of md5 as the file extension is hidden, so don’t worry):

I9100_KERNEL_I9100XXKP9_CL45181_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5 [not to be used]
Disconnect your phone if it’s connected to PC. Switch Off your phone. Wait for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
Now, put the Galaxy S2 in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Home + Power. You’ll get an options screen. Press Volume Up now to go to download mode (which is also called Odin mode). This is required to install the XXKPA (or any other firmware) using Odin PC Software.
Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message “Added! !” under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left. If you don’t get this message, then probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you’ve proper drivers installed. See point 3 above under ‘pre-installation tips’.
Select these files in Odin at respective tabs:
Important! On Odin, make sure Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time check boxes are selected. Do not touch any other check box or tab or anything, except as was required in step 8 above.
Double check everything said in step 7 and 8 above. [And, do not use the files in step 2.3 and 2.4 anywhere in Odin]. This is my Odin’s screen while I flashed the XXKPA on my Galaxy S2 — your Odin’s window should look real similar to this:
Now, hit the START button to start flashing of XXKPA Android 4.0 firmware on your Galaxy S2. When the XXKPA Android 4.0 firmware has been installed by Odin on your phone, your phone will automatically reboot — and when you see the Samsung logo, you can safely unplug the cable. Plus, you’ll get a PASS (with green background) message in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. In case it says FAILS (with red background) or nothing seems to be happening, check the Important Note below after step 11 to know what to do.
When it has restarted, your Galaxy S2 will be running Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) with version being Android 4.0.3, build being XXKPA and Samsung’s custom UI TouchWiz 4 atop it. Check out your Galaxy S2’s android version here: Settings » About Phone.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If Odin doesn’t seem to be progressing/doing anything for more than a minute, or fails to complete the process, do the following:
Disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery, re-insert it, turn phone on in Download mode again, and do the procedure again from Step 5.

After the leaks and official updates on Galaxy S4 (I9500 and I9505) and S3 (I9300), the Android 4.3 Update by Samsung for the Galaxy S3, model no. GT-I9300, has become available — I9300XXUGMJ9 is the build no.
This is leak firmware. And only a test build. it’s working good but not perfect — there may be (read: are) bugs present which should be fixed by Samsung upon final official update, which may happen in coming weeks. that said, it’s been under testing for some time now, and is said to be working all nice.
So, if you can wait for few weeks for Samsung to release the full and final official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3, you may wait. but if you can’t wait, just keep reading on as we see a detailed step-by-step guide on how to download and flash the I9300XXUGMJ9 Android 4.3 Update on the Galaxy S3.
And FYI, Samsung never brought the Android 4.2 version to Galaxy S3, to it’s one first of its kind huge update for the Galaxy S3 users, whose device came pre-installed with Android 4.1, never saw Android 4.2, and is in the front line to get Android 4.3.About the KNOX on Galaxy S3
KNOX, in plain words is, bad. It will void your warranty upon detecting a not-Samsung-approved change to core files of you phones, which is exactly what is done while rooting a device. So, KNOX hates root, and thus, we hate KNOX.
Because, rooting on a phone with KNOX installed, voids the warranty of the device. Upon first boot after root, KNOX gets triggered on reading the unauthorized code and marks warranty as 0x1, which means void. And, Warranty 0x0 is what is by default and also what you want.
Now, KNOX isn’t present in this text build of Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3, which is great — you have one good Android 4.3 based firmware from Samsung without KNOX! But, we fully expect Samsung to mix KNOX in final builds of Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S3.
