Suggested January 2024 How To Attach Files, Photos, And Videos To Notes On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac
The Notes app is a terrific tool for keeping, syncing, and referencing your notes. And one thing that makes it even better is the ability to attach files or add images to your notes. When you’re taking notes for a lecture, jotting down instructions, or making a list, adding a PDF, photo, video, or other item that pertains to the note is super convenient.
We’ve shown you how to scan documents in Notes and insert links in your notes. So it seems fitting to walk you through adding other items like files and images to Notes on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Adding images and files to NotesAttach items to Notes on iPhone and iPad
The process for adding an image to a note is different than attaching a file on iPhone and iPad. For the first, you can add a photo directly from the Notes app. But for the second, you must go to the file instead.
Add an image or video from Notes on iOS
Launch the Notes app and open the note where you want to add the image or video. Then use the toolbar above the keyboard to insert your photo.
1) With your note open, put your cursor where you want to insert the item and tap the Camera icon in the toolbar.
2) Select Choose Photo or Video. If you want to capture the picture or video on the spot, you can pick Take Photo or Video instead.
3) Use the Photos or Albums tabs or the Search box at the top to locate the item.
4) Tap the photo(s) or video(s) you want to insert (you can add more than one at a time) and tap Add.
You’ll then see your items pop right into your note.
Share an image or video from Photos to Notes
If you happen to be already using the Photos app, you can add an image or video from that app to Notes as well. You’ll open the item and use the Share menu.
1) With your photo or video open, tap the Share button at the bottom. You can also share albums or multiple photos at once using the Share button or three dots at the top to access the Sharing options.
2) In the second row of the share sheet, select Notes. If you don’t see Notes, scroll to the right, tap More, and add Notes to the top section.
3) Under Save To you can leave it set to New Note to create one or tap to choose a note to add your photo or video to.
4) Optionally, add text to your note.
5) Tap Save.
When you open the Notes app, you’ll see either your new or existing note containing the photo or video.
Add a file to Notes on iOS
Maybe you have a PDF file, Pages document, or other type of file that you want to include in a note. Unfortunately, you cannot currently add a file to a note from the Notes app. You’ll need to go to the file on your iPhone or iPad and share it to a note similarly to how you would share an item from Photos to Notes above.
1) Open the file you want to attach to a note and access the Sharing options. In some cases, you’ll see the Share button, like for an item in the Files app. In others, you’ll tap the three dots on the top right and select Share, like for a Pages document.
2) In the second row of the share sheet, select Notes.
3) Under Save To, leave it set to New Note to create one or tap to choose an existing note.
4) Optionally, add text to your note.
5) Tap Save.
Attach items to Notes on Mac
When you use Notes on Mac, you can add both images and files directly from the Notes app. While this makes it simple, we’ll also show you how to do the reverse for times when that’s more convenient.
Add an image, video, or file from Notes
Launch the Notes app and open the note where you want to attach an item. Then do one of the following.
Share an image, video, or file to Notes
If you have the Notes app open along with the Photos app or folder containing the file, you can simply drag the item over to your note. This is the quickest and easiest way to add an image or file to Notes on Mac. But of course, you have another option.
If you don’t have the Notes app open, you can insert an image or a file from its own location using the Share menu.
1) In Photos or a folder in Finder, select the item.
3) Next to Choose Note, leave it set to New Note to create one or use the drop-down list to pick an existing note.
4) Optionally, add text to your note.
The next time you open Notes on your Mac, you’ll see your new or existing note with the item you attached to it.
Wrapping it upBeing able to add an image or video or attach a PDF or other file in Notes is a real time-saver. You can have that item as a reference along with your text for your note all in one spot.
For more, take a look at how to search for items like images and scans in Notes on iOS, how to view just the Notes attachments, or how to collaborate with shared notes.

How To Compress Photos On Your Iphone And Ipad
We all love photos. Pictures of our kids, family, friends, pets, and favorite spots are everywhere on our devices. But one thing not so great about a photo is its size. A photo’s file size varies based on the format, resolution, dimensions, and other factors.
While you may have plenty of storage space for your pictures, that doesn’t help when it’s time to send or share one. Sending large photos in emails and text messages can be a burden on the app as well as the recipient receiving them. And there are many sites and social networks that put limits on the size of a photo you can upload.
Here, we’ll show you how to compress photos on your iPhone and iPad. This image compression reduces the file size as compared to its actual size, making it easier to send, share on social media platforms, or use in a specific application.
There’s an app for thatLike with most apps, you’ll find plenty of those for compressing photos on the App Store. But if you want a free app with an intuitive interface, check out Compress Photos & Pictures for iPhone and iPad. The app is developed by iDB.
Compress your photos on iPhone and iPadOpen the Compress Photos & Pictures app, grant permission for it to access your photos, and follow these steps:
Tap Select Photos to Compress on the main screen.
Select your pictures and tap Next.
Adjust the compression settings for quality and dimensions (length and width in pixels) as per your preference.
Tap Compress or tap to go back, make adjustments, and hit the button there.
When the process completes, you’ll see the size details for your photo before and after compression, along with the savings.
You can then decide if you’d like to delete or keep the original photo. The compressed picture is automatically saved to your photo library in the Recents section and a new album titled Compressed Photos. If you pick Delete Original, you’ll be asked to confirm by tapping Delete.
Then, head back to the Photos app on your device for the compressed picture, ready to send or share. Once you reduce the file size of several pictures, it can create enough storage space for other things on your iPhone, like new apps, media, etc.
How to take iPhone pictures of smaller file sizeApps like Compress Photos & Pictures are so easy to use that it’s definitely worth a few minutes of your time for photos that need a smaller file size. However, you can also have your iPhone automatically shoot pictures of considerably smaller sizes.
If your iPhone is running iOS 11 or later (which it most certainly is), its camera can take pictures in HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) instead of JPEG. You can learn more about the benefits of HEIF/HEIC here. In summary, HEIC image file size is smaller than JPEG without compromising the quality. And starting with iOS 11, iPhone automatically uses HEIC instead of JPEG. But if you turned it off, here is how to re-enable this:
Open the Settings app and tap Camera.
Tap Formats.
Choose High Efficiency.
In the screenshots below, you can see that I took the same image in the High Efficiency (HEIF) and Most Compatible (JPEG) settings. HEIF is 1.4 MB, while JPEG is 2.3 MB!
While this is great, HEIC isn’t as universally compatible as JPG, and thus, at times, you might have to convert it, which is easy.

How To Fix Icloud Photos Not Syncing On Iphone, Ipad, Mac, And Pc
This guide lists all the solutions to fix iCloud Photos not syncing pictures and videos across your Apple devices, iCloud web, and Windows PC.
iCloud Photos ensures that the pictures & videos you take on one Apple device are automatically available across your other devices. This way, you have your entire photo library with you, regardless of the device you’re on.
In addition to images and videos, iCloud Photos also syncs any change or edit you make to those files, and reflects them on all your devices.
Overall, it’s a useful and reliable service that you set up once, and does its magic in the background. However, if iCloud Photos is not syncing new media across your devices, here’s how to fix it.
Turn off Low Power Mode
Low Power Mode restricts some features on your device to save battery, including photo syncing. So, turn it off if your new photos and videos are not uploading to iCloud Photos.
Force quit and reopen the Photos app
Sometimes uploading, fetching, and downloading new media can be stuck because of minor issues in the Photos app. Simply force close and reopen the Photos app, which will resume the process.
Make sure iCloud Photos is enabled on all devices
Before moving to the rest of the solutions, take a few seconds to ensure this service is enabled, and you or someone with access to your device has not turned it off.
Use the same Apple ID everywhere
It’s essential to have the same Apple ID on all the devices where you want iCloud Photos to work. So, take a moment to know your Apple ID and ensure all devices are using it.
Check your Wi-Fi or enable cellular data for iCloud Photos
As you might have already figured out by now, iCloud Photos syncing involves two steps:
Uploading the photos and videos from one device to iCloud.
Downloading those photos and videos to all other iCloud Photos-enabled devices.
For both these functions to work, the device from where photos are uploaded and the one where they are downloaded must have a working, reliable internet connection.
So, make sure your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows PC is connected to a fast Wi-Fi network. Here are some tutorials to help:
If you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, you can enable iCloud Photos to work on cellular data:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down and tap Photos.
Tap Cellular Data.
Enable the switch for Cellular Data to allow iCloud Photos to work even when you’re not connected to Wi-Fi. Next, turn on Unlimited Updates if you’re on an unlimited cellular plan.
Note: If you’re using Low Data Mode, turn it off.
Check Apple’s system status
It is not unusual for Apple’s iCloud servers to be having issues. Quickly check Apple’s System Status, and if Photos, Apple ID, iCloud Account & Sign In are facing problems, you will have to wait a few hours until Apple fixes it. Once that’s done, iCloud Photos sync should resume on your devices.
Free up iCloud space
You get 5 GB of free online iCloud space with every Apple ID. This 5 GB is shared among various services, including iCloud Photos. You can subscribe to iCloud+ to increase this storage to 50 GB or all the way up to 2 TB.
Free up local storage
Besides sufficient free iCloud space, you must also have some free local space on your iPhone and iPad for iCloud Photos to upload and work as intended. Once you make space, iCloud Photos sync should start working again.
Regularly restart your devices
A temporary glitch may cause iCloud Photos to freeze and stop it from uploading new media to iCloud. Just turn off your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and turn it back on to solve the issue.
See this if you’re using an older version of Windows 10 on your PC.
If iCloud Photos is not working on your Windows computer, make sure iCloud for Windows is updated.
Charge your iPhone
Have tons of photos and videos that still need to finish uploading to iCloud Photos? Charge your iPhone or iPad, make sure it’s connected to Wi-Fi, and lock the screen. Your pictures and videos will gradually upload to iCloud and be available on all your other devices. You can follow this tip at night when you aren’t using your phone.
Optimize your local photo storage
iCloud Photos offers two storage settings:
Optimize local storage: This keeps the smaller version of photos and videos on the device and full-resolution versions on iCloud.
Download and Keep Originals: This ensures all photos and videos are stored locally in their full original quality.
Turn off iCloud Photos and turn it back on
On iPhone or iPad On MacReset iPhone network settings
Still no luck? Go ahead and reset your iPhone or iPad’s network settings, which should hopefully do the trick.
Sign out of Apple ID and sign in again
Finally, if nothing helps, your last resort is to sign out of Apple ID/iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac and sign in again. When you do this, it will be a fresh start for iCloud Photos on that device, and from now on, it should work reliably.

How To Add Text To A Photo On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac
Add text to an image on iPhone and iPad
There are a couple of easy ways.
Using Apple’s Photos app
The Markup feature of the stock iOS Photos app lets you add text to your pictures and screenshots. You have the option to use any color of your choice, pick a font size, and use one of the three font styles.
Here’s how to quickly add text to a picture for free on your iPhone or iPad:
1) Go inside the Photos app and open the image you want to add text to.
2) Tap Edit.
3) Tap the Markup button.
4) Now, tap the plus button (+) and select the Text tool.
5) Double-tap the “Text” box and type your words. After that, tap anywhere on the photo to hide the on-screen keyboard.
6) Tap your text to select it. Now, tap AA to select a font style, size, and alignment. Next, pick a suggested color from the bottom or tap the color palette dot to use a custom color and set the opacity. You can also tap the color picker icon from the top left and drag it on the image to pick a color that matches that portion of the image.
Using Phonto
Phonto is a highly-rated free app that offers various styles and easy options to put text over your image.
1) Download the Phonto app on your iPhone or iPad and open it.
2) Tap the camera icon from the bottom and select Photo Albums. After this, allow the app to access your photo library.
3) Pick the image you want to add text to.
4) Tap Done to exit the filter screen.
5) Once you’re inside the main editor, tap anywhere over the image and choose Add Text.
6) Type what you want to say, then select one of the various font styles and symbols. You can also pick from left, right, or center alignments. And if you tap Preset, you can add today’s date as the text. Note that you can later change these presets to custom text from the app’s settings pane. Tap Done once you have taken care of everything here.
7) Drag the text to the appropriate spot on the image. You can also pick an option from the sub-menu that appears. Here’s what they do:
Text: This will bring you back to the text-input screen you had in Step 6.
Font: Select a font.
Style: It has many options like text color, stroke (text boundary), background, shadow, spacing, underline, and blend. It will take a while to get accustomed to everything here. Remember to use the Color and Style tabs from the top.
Size: Increase or decrease the text size.
Tilt: Pick a degree of tilt for your image.
Move: Use the four arrow buttons to precisely move the text.
Curve: Curve the text inwards or outwards.
Finally, you can duplicate the text or delete it. Note: 3D and Erase are premium tools that require payment.
8) With the text added to the photo, tap the share button and choose Save Image or Save Image as PNG. After that, open your iPhone or iPad’s Photos app, and you will find the final edited image there.
Using other apps
In addition to the above two options, you can try several other apps and even online websites.
A quick search for “add text to photo” on App Store or Google Search should show multiple handy apps. But if you ask me, I would recommend Add Text, Canva, Snapseed, Studio, and Picsart.
And when it comes to online websites to add text to photos, I won’t recommend using them on an iPhone because of the small screen and difficulty of using the tools in the web browser. Not to forget, many of these websites are not optimized for mobile. But you can use them on your iPad (that’s hopefully connected to a keyboard and mouse) or your computer. We have talked about a few such websites under the Mac heading.
Add text to a photo on Mac
You can use the built-in options or third-party tools like Canva.
Using Preview
Preview is a built-in app by Apple that is the default destination to open images and PDFs. You can use it to add text to your photo. But remember to duplicate an image (Command + D) before opening it in Preview, as all changes you make using this app are saved in real-time, and you can’t revert them once you exit the editing window. That said, here’s how to put text over a photo for free using the Preview app on Mac:
3) Replace “Text” with what you want to say.
4) Next, with the custom text selected, you can style it up by using these tools:
Text Style [Aa]: Use it to change the font, color, size, style (bold, italic, underline), and alignment.
Fill Color: Use it to add a solid background behind the text.
Border Color: Pick this to add a colored border around the text.
Shape Style: You can pick a style or thickness for the border using this option.
5) Once you’re done, simply close the Preview app, as all your edits are saved to the image file in real-time. You can open the original image file in the Finder folder to see the text added over it.
Using the Photos app
Just like the iOS Photos app, you can use the macOS Photos app to add text over an image:
1) Launch the Apple Photos app on your Mac and open the image.
3) Hit the More button and choose Markup.
4) Select the Text tool [A] from the top.
5) Replace “Text” with your custom text.
6) Drag it to the desired spot and use the Text Style (Aa), Fill Color, Border Color, and the Shape Style button to customize your text. The process is similar to what we explained under the Preview app method above.
You can share this edited photo from inside the Photos app by hitting the Share button. Or, drag the image out from the Photos app and drop it over the Desktop or a Finder folder.
Using Canva
Canva is one of the most popular photo editing tools out there. I have used it daily for the last few years to create the featured images of my iDB posts.
Projects you save in Canva can be accessed on a computer, iPad, and mobile apps. Every change you make is saved to the cloud, and you don’t have to worry about losing them. As a result, you can start working on a photo and finish it later. On top of that, the free version of Canva doesn’t add a watermark to your images!
Here’s how to use Canva in a web browser on a computer to add text to an image:
1) Go to chúng tôi and sign up for a free account. If you already have an account, simply login to it. Tip: You can visit Canva in Safari and sign up for an account using your Apple ID by confirming your Mac’s password or Touch ID.
5) Enter your custom text, and customize its font, size, color, and other things using the tools at the top.
Experiment with other methods
I’ve tried several online websites to add text to a photo but faced one of these issues:
The free version would add a watermark.
The sites are super slow to load and take a considerable time to upload the photo.
Editing tools may not be responsive.
As a result, I recommend using Canva, which doesn’t have these drawbacks. However, if you’ve made up your mind not to use Canva, you can try these alternatives:
IMG2GO (the best option out of the bunch. It also doesn’t seem to have the above problems)
Text2Photo
Online Image Editor
AddText
Kapwing
Finally, if your Mac has an Apple silicon (M1, M2 chip), you can also use iOS apps like Add text 2 on it. It worked well on my Mac mini with an M2 chip.

How To Delete All Old Whatsapp Photos And Videos From Your Iphone
WhatsApp saves the same pictures and videos in two places – inside the WhatsApp app and the iPhone Photos app. You can easily stop WhatsApp from saving images to your iPhone Photos app. But one copy still unknowingly remains inside the chat app.
If you have lots of one-to-one and group conversations on WhatsApp, these media files might be occupying several GBs of space.
In this handy tutorial, we show you how to delete old WhatsApp photos and videos from your iPhone to free space and keep things fast.
Before you begin: You might have important memories, receipts, screenshots, and such in your WhatsApp chats. So, make sure you delete things after double-checking.
Delete WhatsApp media from the Photos app
WhatsApp automatically makes a new album in your iPhone’s Photos app and keeps all the incoming media there.
Here’s how to delete WhatsApp photos from your iPhone Camera Roll:
1) Open the Photos app and tap Albums from the bottom.
2) Choose See All to see all albums and tap the one called WhatsApp.
3) Tap Select.
4) Now, you can tap Select All or just quickly run your fingers to select only the desired media you wish to delete.
You have successfully deleted WhatsApp pictures and videos from your iPhone’s Photos app. However, they are still in the Recently Deleted section of the iOS Photos app for 30 days. So, go there to delete them now and free space immediately.
Delete WhatsApp photos and videos inside the chat app
As mentioned in the beginning, WhatsApp stores one copy of the images in the app as well. So, after you delete the ones visible in the Photos app, you can delete another copy from inside the WhatsApp app using any of the following ways.
Delete from individual chat
Here’s how to see all pictures and videos from a particular WhatsApp chat and delete them:
1) Inside WhatsApp, go to a person or group chat and tap their name from the top.
2) Select Media, Links, and Docs. You will now see all files shared by this person or group. It also includes the images you sent.
3) Tap Select and run your finger to select the files.
4) Finally, tap the delete trash icon and confirm.
Delete from Manager Storage section
WhatsApp has a handy storage setting where you can see the total space used by the app files, the conversations taking the most space, etc.
Here’s how to manage your storage on WhatsApp by deleting unnecessary media:
1) Choose Settings from the lower right of WhatsApp.
2) Tap Storage and Data.
3) Select Manage Storage.
5) Alternatively, you can also see the chats taking the most space. From here, tap a chat to view all the media files and select all or just the desired ones to delete them.
Delete the entire conversation
If you delete the entire WhatsApp conversation, along with the chats, it also deletes all the media sent and received with that person or group from your device. Doing so can free a significant amount of local space on your iPhone.
Here’s how to delete a WhatsApp chat to get rid of all the media from that conversation:
1) Inside WhatsApp, make sure you’re in the Chats section.
Tip: While cleaning, don’t forget to go to the Archived section and delete old chats from there too.
Clear or delete all WhatsApp chats
Inside WhatsApp settings, there are two buttons that can clear all chats or delete all chats.
If you clear all chats in WhatsApp, all messages and media from all conversations will be deleted from your device, but the chat names will still stay listed in the Chats section. When you tap any person or group chat, it will be empty.
If you delete all chats on WhatsApp, every conversation, along with all the messages and media, will be deleted. The Chats section will have no individual chats, but just the group chats you’re a part of.
Depending on your choice, you can choose to do either.
Here’s how to clear or delete all WhatsApp chats:
1) Open WhatsApp and tap Settings.
2) Tap Chats.
3) Tap Clear All Chats or Delete All Chats.
4) Enter your WhatsApp phone number and confirm to clear or delete all chats.
Delete the WhatsApp app
By now, you know several methods to delete old photos, videos, and documents from WhatsApp chats and those saved by it locally on your iPhone.
However, if you’re having trouble managing space or just want to start fresh, you can delete the WhatsApp app and reinstall it. Doing so will eliminate all the chats, pictures, GIFs, videos, links, PDFs, etc. (unless you restore a WhatsApp chat backup).
Note: Deleting the WhatsApp application from your iPhone won’t remove you from the WhatsApp groups you’re a part of.
Delete your WhatsApp account
Finally, if you want to go extreme, you can delete your WhatsApp account, which will clear all media from your device. It will also exit you from any WhatsApp groups you’re a part of.
Once you wish to rejoin WhatsApp, you can do that using the same phone number. It will be a clean slate with no old groups or chats.
