Suggested December 2023 How To Fix ‘Avast Won’t Update Virus Definitions’ Issue?
Avast is one of the most popular free antivirus software worldwide. It offers maximum protection against virus, malware, and spyware. It also has some other popular features like web protection etc., but sometimes it can be annoying if the virus definitions don’t update automatically. Rather it shows an error depending on how the error occurs.
We have shown a VIDEO walk through at the end of the post for easy solution.
The major reason for Avast not updating the virus definitions is incompatibility issues. Your Avast version may not be compatible with the Windows version installed on your system. This can pose a problem if you don’t regularly update your Windows and other software.
You can also face this error if you have Avast installed incorrectly. This can occur if an update failed or was canceled during installation.
Depending on why the error is being displayed, this issue is very easy to solve. You can follow this guide in the order of precedence written.
The easiest solution is to solve the incompatibility issues that may be causing the error.
Check for any pending Windows updates and install them.
Update your Avast client software. Outdated software can also increase the CPU load.
To update the software and definitions:
Open the Avast GUI from the notification tray icon.
Under the Update tab, you will find the current versions of the antivirus program and the virus definitions as well.
If there are no updates available, you need to repair your Avast installation files. To do so, follow these steps
i. Open Control Panel. Select Programs and features.
(Alternatively, press Win + X to open the WinX menu and look for Apps and features at the top)
v. Wait till Avast repairs the client software by making the necessary changes to the data files.
vi. Restart your PC and check if the error persists.
If updating and repairing do not solve your issue, you need to reinstall the Avast client software.
However, a normal uninstall from Windows Add or Remove won’t solve your issue. You need a power uninstaller like IObit uninstaller (Uninstaller) that can remove the registry and residual files as well.
(Also read: Check out other powerful uninstallers and batch installers )
Alternatively, you can also do a clean uninstall by booting into safe mode and uninstalling from there.
First, download the Avast Uninstall Utility from their website. Save the file on the desktop.
To boot into safe mode, here are the steps:
Open the Run dialogue by pressing Win + R and type msconfig. Press Enter.
Under the Boot tab, you will find the Safe boot under the Boot options
Check the box next to Safe boot.
Restart your PC to boot into Safe mode automatically.
Note: If you follow this method, you need to uncheck this box to boot into Normal mode.
(Also read: How to enable F8 in Windows 10 .)
Once in safe mode, run chúng tôi that you downloaded on your desktop earlier. This will clear all the residual files as well.
Boot in normal mode next and download and install the latest version of Avast from their website.
The clean install must remove all the corrupted files and solve the ‘Avast won’t Update Virus Definitions’ issue.
If performing a clean install also does not solve your issue, there must lie a deep-seated problem. You need to personally contact the Avast customer care and ask them to provide solutions.

How To Fix Sound Not Working On Macbook Issue
So you finally settled for a movie or music on your Mac after a stressful day. But you find yourself staring at your Mac’s screen without hearing a thing, even after turning up all volume keys. Your Mac’s audio output won’t just work! I know how you feel; disappointed.
Look at these quick nifty fixes and solve your Mac’s broken sound problem. Fatigued from a busy day? No worries, you can take a nap and return to this article for a quick fix later.
1. Check the volume control buttons
While this sounds absurd, you might’ve mistakenly lowered your Mac’s control button to the minimum. Mistakes happen. Turn up the volume buttons while playing audio on your computer.
2. Speak to Siri to check Mac’s speakers
One of the best ways to test your Mac’s inbuilt speakers is to speak to Siri. However, ensure you disconnect any external audio device from your Mac before testing with Siri since it uses the system sound by default.
Carrying out this test is easy if you’ve enabled Siri on Mac previously.
Say something like, “hey Siri, how are you?” If Siri responds audibly, your Mac’s audio hardware is fine. And it might be a software issue.
3. Play random music files on Mac
Some songs have poor sound quality. And worse, they may fail to play on your Mac. Additionally, some music files might be incompatible with your Mac. They may not produce sound if that’s the case.
To check this problem, start by playing random music files on your Mac to see if the sound works. You can also stream songs online, to be sure.
If other songs besides the one you’re trying to play work, you can delete and re-download that music file. Then play it again to see if it works. Otherwise, your macOS might not support that file format.
4. Unplug external speakers or earphones
External speakers connected to your Mac might be broken or not connected properly, thereby blocking audio output from your computer. This might make you think your Mac’s audio output is faulty when it’s not.
Unplug them from your Mac to check if the problem is from external speakers. Then play any song or movie to see if the built-in audio works. Don’t conclude a system’s broken audio yet. There are still a few things to check.
5. Select the right audio device on Mac
Audio might fail to work on your Mac if you’ve selected the wrong audio device from your system settings. And this happens to most people by mistake. This is applicable if you’re trying to use external audio devices like speakers or earphones.
To check and select the correct audio device on Mac:
Go to Output.
6. Ensure individual macOS app is not muted
Most apps, including games, have dedicated volume controls. So if audio doesn’t work while trying to play a game or stream a movie or song from an app, it’s probably on mute.
You won’t hear any sound if that’s the case. So before moving to the following more technical fixes, ensure you turn up the volume in the settings for the specific app.
If your Mac’s audio still doesn’t work after testing the sound outputs as instructed above, it’s time to move to more technical solutions. But no worries, these are easy peasy.
7. Unplug and re-plug the external audio device
This solution is applicable if your Mac’s audio output only stops working when you plug in an external audio device.
The interface between a plugged external audio device and your Mac might be giddy due to some factors. Unplugging and re-plugging the external audio device often helps. You also want to solve Bluetooth device connection problems – if you’re using Bluetooth audio devices.
As a final step, you can use a soft brush to scrape the speaker or headphone jack and USB ports to remove debris. Plug in the external audio device again to see if it works.
8. Reset Mac’s core audio interface
Mac’s core audio is the application programming interface (API) that drives audio output inside your Mac’s applications. So, developers use it to code the audio components of hybrid apps made for Mac. As expected, if it breaks or becomes buggy, it prevents apps from outputting sound.
You can’t tell if it’s the culprit, though. But simply resetting the core audio via your Mac’s CLI works for most people.
To reset Mac’s core audio API, open Mac’s terminal and type:
sudo killall coreaudiod9. Restart your Mac
Software problems, including RAM, might cause the audio unit to freeze, preventing it from working as expected. Most users say restarting their computer resolves the failed audio-output issue. Besides, restarting your Mac gives it a fresh start and clears the clogged RAM.
10. Reset your Mac’s NVRAM
NVRAM stands for non-volatile random access memory. It’s the memory that stores your Mac’s settings for quick access. This memory uses a dedicated CMOS battery that keeps it running even if you shut down your Mac. It helps Mac recover previous settings when you boot the system.
If it stops working or is faulty, it might affect core parts of your Mac’s settings, including the audio settings. Thankfully, resetting the NVRAM is straightforward. It helps restart this memory unit and revert it to previous settings.
An outdated macOS can break many functionalities. Even if an outdated macOS doesn’t break the audio directly, it might prevent some apps from working as they should on your Mac. This might affect the native features like in-app system volume. The solution is simple; update your macOS. Then try playing a song or movie to see if your Mac’s sound works this time.
12. Restart the sound controller
If you have tried all the above-mentioned fixes, and there are no peripherals connected to your Mac, then it’s time to restart the sound controller.
If everything else fails to work, it’s time to contact Apple Support. Speaking to an Apple agent might help resolve sound output, as this might give you a better insight into what’s wrong with your Mac.
It can be frustrating if your Mac’s audio doesn’t work. You’ve invested so much, and you deserve the best it can deliver. But audio failure happens – even to the best Mac computers. I’ve highlighted easy-to-follow guides to fix the audio output problem on your Mac computer. It might only require a few tweaks to work.

Why Can’t I Change My Name On Zoom? How To Fix The Issue
Zoom has become such a staple in our daily life, that our Zoom name is almost the same as our identity. Zoom lets you connect with friends and family from around the world. While the app does have a paid version, its free version offers a ton of features. Recently users have noticed trouble with changing their names on Zoom. In this article, we will cover why you may have trouble changing your Zoom name and how you could fix it.
What is your Display name on Zoom?
Zoom lets you create video conferences with your friends, family, and colleagues. The apps array of features makes it one of the top ones in its category. Zoom requires you to set a first and last name on the app while creating your account. This becomes your Display name.
Your display name is basically your identity on the app. Zoom encourages users to use their real name, and not nicknames or pet names. That is because your name is displayed at every meeting that you join. Zoom lets you change your name as many times as you like. You can also change your name when in a meeting!

Why can’t I change my name on Zoom?
There could be a couple of reasons as to why you cannot change your name on Zoom. As mentioned above Zoom lets you change your name as many times as you want. However, it should be noted that PC users can only change their name on the Zoom website and not on the app. Mobile users can easily change their name on the app. Some users have experienced problems relating to changing their names on Zoom. Others seem to be facing issues changing their name while in a meeting. Here are some issues and possible solutions to them.

Issue #1: Zoom name keeps reverting back on Zoom app
If you have encountered a problem where when you change your name on the mobile app, it just goes back to the previous one, this solution may help. First, make sure that you have the latest version of the app running. To do so, simply locate the app in the app store and tap ‘Update’. If you do not see the update button it means you are on the latest version already.

Issue #2: Display name keeps changing during the meeting
Some users have noticed that their display name changes while they are in a meeting! Sometimes you may also notice that your name changes as soon as you join the meeting. This is quite a simple solution. Hosts and Co-hosts have the power to change your name at any point. So while it may look like magic, they are actually the ones hanging your name on the list of attendees.
Hosts usually tidy up the list, especially in a formal setting, so that names like ‘John’s Android phone’, and ‘Dwight’s Nokia 3310’ don’t show up. If you notice that your name has been misspelled, you can follow this simple guide in the link below to change your name while in a meeting.

Issue #3: Cannot change name while in a meeting
By default, Zoom lets attendees in a meeting change their own names at any point. However, some users have noticed that the option seems t be missing for them. This is because Zoom has a setting that lets Hosts choose whether they would like to allow the attendees of a meeting to be able to change their name once a meeting has started.
Related: What is Mirror My Video on Zoom, How It Works, and Should You Enable It?
If you need to change your name, you can request the host of the meeting to enable this setting by following this guide below.
Once enabled, all participants in the meeting will have the option to rename themselves. Only the host and co-hosts of the meeting will have this setting.
Issue #4: Cannot change name before a meeting
Zoom lets you change your name before each meeting you enter. By default this is the name on your account, however, you can change it before you join a meeting. However, some users have noticed that they do not receive that option when joining a meeting.
This depends on the way you join a Zoom meeting. As you probably know, you can join a meeting using a meeting link or by manually inputting the meeting ID and password. When you use a link to join a meeting on Zoom, it will automatically bypass the option to change your name and directly have you join the meeting.
If you would like to have the option to change your name before joining the meeting, then you must use the ‘Join’ button in the Zoom app.
Once you hit ‘Join’, you will get a pop up asking you your name, and the meeting ID. You can change your name for this particular meeting.

4 Ways To Fix Midjourney Image Weight Not Working Issue
What to know
To use Image Weights, ensure you’re using Midjourney version 3 or 5, and change your version using the /settings prompt.
Only use image weight values within the specified range for your Midjourney version, and include them at the end of the prompt as –iw (value).
Double-check for typos in your prompt and remember, only one image weight argument is allowed, even if you have multiple images.
Midjourney’s customization parameters are truly game-changing. Through them, you can tell the AI which sections of the prompt should be given more importance than others so the generated images are closer to what you imagine.
But sometimes, you will find that these weighted prompts don’t actually do anything. This is quite often the case with image weights. But it is nothing that can’t be easily fixed. Here is everything you need to know to fix Image Weight parameters on Midjourney if they are not working.
Reasons why Image Weight may not be working
There are a few reasons why you may not see your Image Weight (--iw) argument yielding any results for your generated images.
Everything from the Midjourney version you’re using to the image weight value that you’ve entered will determine whether your generated image benefits from the image weight parameter, or indeed if it even gets registered. Your image weight argument in the prompt also needs to be typed correctly, or you will end up receiving an error message from Midjourney’s Discord server.

How to fix Midjourney Image Weight not working issue
Let’s take a look at the fixes that will help you get around the problems encountered while entering image weight parameters.
FIX 1: Ensure correct prompt argument
Before anything else, make sure that the image weight argument that you’ve inputted is correct. Image weight arguments go in the following format:
--iw (value)
Here, (value) is the image weight that you want to give to your images relative to the text prompt. Image weight parameters should also come at the very end of the whole prompt, like any other parameter. A prompt example with the image weight parameter will look something like this:
If your prompt doesn’t follow this Image-Text-Parameter structure, you will have problems getting Midjourney to understand the arguments.

FIX 2: Keep your Image Weight values within range
The range of Image Weight values that you can use differs depending on the Midjourney version you’re using. For instance, in Midjourney V3, you can use any integer as your image weight value between -10,000 to 10,000, but not fractions or decimals.
On the other hand, in Midjourney V5, your range is limited from 0.5 to 2. But you can use fractions or decimals which open up a range of options available to you as your image weight values.

FIX 3: Check your Midjourney Version
Not all Midjourney versions have the option to add image weights. Though V3 and V5 allow image weights in the prompt, V4 doesn’t. In Midjourney’s V4, all images are given the same default weight value of 1 relative to the text prompt. A good workaround for this in Midjourney V4 is to alter the importance of the text prompt relative to the image by adding weight to the text prompt.
But if you want to specifically add image weight to the prompt, change the Midjourney version that you’re using to either V3 or V5. You can check your Midjourney version by typing /settings in the message field and hitting Enter.
In the settings message, you’ll be able to check your Midjourney version and also change to either V3 or V5 for image weight prompts.
Related: Midjourney Cheat Sheet
FIX 4: Use a single image for the prompt
This is technically not a fix, but instead a general prompt recommendation. Although Midjourney lets you upload two images in your prompt, you can only enter one image weight argument. The same image weight argument will apply collectively to both images in relation to the text prompt.
If you want both images to have their own weights relative to the text prompt, you’re unfortunately out of luck. Multiple image weight arguments are not currently supported by Midjourney. The best thing to do is to use a single image in your prompt and add weight to it.
Of course, this will limit you when you have to use two images. In which case, do remain aware of the fact that the image weight you enter in your prompt will be applied to both images.

FAQ
Let’s take a look at a few commonly asked queries about image weights in Midjourney.
What is the default image weight in Midjourney?
In Midjourney version 5, the default image weight is 1. In Version 3, the default image weight is 0.25.
Can you add image weight for multiple images in Midjourney?
Currently, image weights can only be added once. The same will be applied to any and all images that you have in your prompt in relation to the text prompt.
Does Midjourney V4 have image weight parameters?
No. Midjourney V4 doesn’t let you add the image weight parameter to your prompt. This means that the image in your prompt will have the same level of importance as the text (if you haven’t specified the weight for the text prompt).
Different Midjourney versions have slight differences when it comes to what you can do with the image weight parameters. We hope the troubleshooting tips given in this guide helped you in getting the image weights to work. Until next time!
