It’s not unnatural to feel concerned about the safety of your home when you are away. And, if you feel the need to keep an eye on your dear home, you can choose to get notifications from your HomeKit accessories on your iPhone and iPad.
iOS 11 allows you to set up notifications for certain HomeKit accessories like locks and sensors. You will get alerts whenever the accessory detects something. For instance, if you are using a door sensor, you will receive an alert when the door opens.
How to Set Up Notifications for HomeKit Accessories on iPhone and iPadDo note that some accessories might not support notifications.
Step #1. Open the Home app on your iOS device and then navigate to the accessory you want to receive notification from.
Step #2. Now, you have to touch and hold the accessory icon.

You can select any of the options.
Step #6. In the end, tap on the Back button in the upper-left corner and then tap on Done to confirm.
Going forward, you will receive alerts from your accessories while you are at home.
If you want to get the notification even when you are away from Home, you need to set up a Home hub.
How to Set Up iPad as a Home HubStep #1. Open the Settings on your iPad and tap on your [your name].
Step #2. Now, tap on iCloud.
Step #3. Tap on Keychain → turn on iCloud Keychain.
Step #4. Then, go back to Settings → Home and turn on Use this iPad as a Home Hub.
You can check the status of your home hub in the Home app on your iOS device. To do so, Open the Home app → tap on the tiny arrow in the upper-left corner. Then look under Home Hubs to find out if your home hub is connected.
In case you have multiple home hubs set up, the primary home hub will appear as connected. The other home hubs will be on standby and get into action only if the primary one is disconnected.

Not everyone loves emojis, even if they’re used every day to inject emotion and humor into conversations. Currently, it isn’t possible to remove the emoji button from your iPhone or iPad keyboard without removing the whole emoji keyboard, ultimately disabling emoji on your device.
But you may still want to remove the emoji button. Some of the reasons you may want to remove the emoji button include if you find yourself hitting the emoji button accidentally or if it irritates you. Maybe you never even use it. Disabling it from your keyboard may be a relief if you don’t want to use it anymore.
What Happens When You Remove the Emoji Button?Whatever your reason is for wanting to get rid of the emoji button, there’s a consequence for this. By removing the emoji button, you won’t be able to access the it again, as it turns off emojis until you re-enable it.
Even if you disable the feature, you can still gain access back by reversing the settings on your device if you wish to use it sometime in the future.
If you do remove the feature, you can still see emojis sent through messages from those in your contact list, as the iPhone or iPad will still render and display emojis.

1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings.
3. Tap Keyboard.
4. In the corner of the keyboard settings, tap Edit.
5. Tap the minus (-) button near “Emoji.”

There are many devices where you’ll need to control your notifications, and the iPad is one of them. The iPad offers you various useful options for managing your notifications. You can change how you get them and what you don’t get notifications for. If you ever change your mind, you can make the necessary changes by returning to Settings. That way, you add your personal touch to your notifications.
How to Access Your Notifications on iPadTo start managing your notifications, you’ll need to know the steps to get to that section. Tap on the Settings app and swipe down the options on your left until you receive notifications. Tap on it, and you’ll see various options you can change to help you manage your notifications only on your iPad. The first option you will come across is the Scheduled Summary option. If you still need to set this up, your iPad should show you a summary of what it does when you first access it. It summarizes your non-important notifications at the time you specify. You can toggle on the Time Sensitive Notifications for the more important notifications. They will stay on your Lock Screen for an hour, so you remember them.

There are three options to choose from getting them on your Lock Screen, notifications center, and as a banner. You can have the banner be temporary or permanent. The notification options continue by having them appear as badges, and you can also disable the sound for the notifications. Having a preview of your notifications is very useful. Still, they can be annoying if you get them at the wrong time. That’s why, under the show previews option, you can have the notifications always appear, never, or only on your lock screen. By default, your iPad will have this option set in always.
So you never miss out on a specific notification, you can choose how your notifications are organized. You can choose from options such as automatic, by app, or turn it off. Compress your photos on iPhone and iPadOpen the Compress Photos & Pictures app, grant permission for it to access your photos, and follow these steps:
Tap Select Photos to Compress on the main screen.
Select your pictures and tap Next.
Adjust the compression settings for quality and dimensions (length and width in pixels) as per your preference.
Tap Compress or tap to go back, make adjustments, and hit the button there.
When the process completes, you’ll see the size details for your photo before and after compression, along with the savings.
You can then decide if you’d like to delete or keep the original photo. The compressed picture is automatically saved to your photo library in the Recents section and a new album titled Compressed Photos. If you pick Delete Original, you’ll be asked to confirm by tapping Delete.
Then, head back to the Photos app on your device for the compressed picture, ready to send or share. Once you reduce the file size of several pictures, it can create enough storage space for other things on your iPhone, like new apps, media, etc.

If your iPhone is running iOS 11 or later (which it most certainly is), its camera can take pictures in HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) instead of JPEG. And starting with iOS 11, iPhone automatically uses HEIC instead of JPEG. But if you turned it off, here is how to re-enable this:
Open the Settings app and tap Camera.
Tap Formats.
Choose High Efficiency.
In the screenshots below, you can see that I took the same image in the High Efficiency (HEIF) and Most Compatible (JPEG) settings. HEIF is 1.4 MB, while JPEG is 2.3 MB!
While this is great, HEIC isn’t as universally compatible as JPG, and thus, at times, you might have to convert it, which is easy.

Also, on the Albums tab, you’ll see options for People & Places, and below that, you have Media Types, where the images and videos are further organized based on their types.
Create an album in the Photos app on iPhone
Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
Select the Albums tab at the bottom and then tap the plus sign at the top.
Choose New Album. (You can also pick New Shared Album. A shared album is one that you can invite your friends or family to view.)
Give your album a name and tap Save.
You can immediately select photos that you want to add to your new album. Just tap the photos you want and hit Add when you finish. But don’t worry, you can easily add photos to the album at any time. If you don’t want to add any photos right away, just tap Cancel. Now your new album will be visible in the Albums tab of the Photos app.
Note: Several iOS apps automatically create albums in the Photos app to better manage the images related to them.

Add photos to an album
Go inside the Photos app and select the pictures and videos you want to add.
Tap the Share button at the bottom and pick Add to Album (or Add to Shared Album if it applies).
Choose the album and the photo(s) will pop right into it.
Keep in mind that adding photos to albums does not remove them from the Photos tab. It merely assembles them in another location (your album) for easy viewing.
And you can add photos to more than one album. For instance, you can have a photo of your child in both your Vacation and Kids albums.
Remove photos from an albumMaybe you added a photo to an album by mistake and want to remove it.
Open the album containing the photo.
Tap Select, pick the photo, and tap the Delete (trash can) icon.
Choose Remove from Album. If you select Delete, this will remove the photo from all devices and locations once you confirm. So be careful not to select this option if you only want to remove the photo from the album. If you delete a photo by mistake, check out our article on recovering deleted iPhone photos.
Tip: To remove a photo from the Favorites album, open that photo and tap the heart icon to un-favorite it.
Rename or rearrange albumsIf you want to give an album a new name or change the arrangement of your albums (in the Albums tab), here’s how.
Go to the Albums tab, and at the top, tap See All.
Tap Edit.
To rename an album, tap the name and then use your keyboard to enter a new one. To rearrange your albums, tap and hold one of them, move it to its new spot, and release.
Tap Done when you finish making your changes.
Delete an album in PhotosIf you want to remove an album, you can do this from the Albums tab as well. This will only remove the album; the photos will still exist in other albums and the Photos tab.
Go to the Albums tab and at the top, tap See All.
Tap Edit and tap the minus sign next to the album you want to remove.
Confirm that you want to remove the album by tapping Delete Album.
Tap Done when you finish.
Note: You cannot delete the Recents, Favorites, or My Photo Stream albums created by the Photos app.
