It can be frustrating when you can’t find important messages or chats on Facebook. You might’ve even concluded that you’ve deleted them already. However, Facebook has a reputation for keeping memories (read data). Hence, there are ways to recover deleted messages on Facebook and Messenger using iPhone and the web.
Read this article to find out those tricks and retrieve your messages!
Check archived messages on Facebook and Messenger
If you can’t find a chat or message, you might’ve archived it instead of deleting the chat permanently. Similar to finding archived posts on Instagram, you can retrieve archived messages on Facebook Messenger. Your lost messages might just be there.
Here’s how to do it:
See archived chat on the Messenger app using iPhone
Open the Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone.
Tap the picture icon at the top right.
Select Archived chats.
Find archived chat on the Facebook websiteOn the web, log in to your Facebook account and follow these steps:
However, if you can’t find your chats in the archived messages, they may be gone forever. But there’s one more hopw!
Downloading your chat data from Facebook may help you to recover deleted messages. Before deleting your messages from the server, Facebook saves the data for a certain period. Hence, you may find your deleted messages in the Facebook data if you are on time.
How it works? Well, once requested, you’ll get a zipped file containing your chat history with each of your Facebook friends.
How to download Facebook data on iPhone
Open the Facebook app.
Tap the small picture icon at the bottom right.
Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.
Select Privacy shortcuts.
Scroll down, and select Access your information under Your Facebook information.
Choose Deselect All → select Messages.
Scroll to the bottom and tap the dropdown under Date range to choose a date range.
Once your download is ready, tap Download.
Pick the downloaded file from the list.
How to download Facebook data on the Facebook website
Note: If you deleted messages and can’t find them in the downloaded data, you can get a copy of these chats from your friends if they’ve not deleted it from their end. A recommended way is to tell them as soon as possible to follow the steps for downloading their Facebook message data as explained.
So, that’s how you can access removed messages on Messenger or Facebook! However, many people told me that many third-party apps promised to recover permanently deleted Facebook messages on iPhone. But is it really true and safe? Find out!
Can you download Facebook messages via third-party apps?Well, when you delete a message on Facebook, it is permanently removed. While some third-party apps might claim to help download your Facebook data, this isn’t true and can be a portal to a privacy breach. So be careful what apps you grant access to your Facebook history.
As said earlier, using the Facebook app method itself works better and is secure than any other third-party option.
Besides, deleted or wiped chats might become unretrievable on Facebook as these aren’t on Facebook’s server anymore. So, don’t fall for third-party apps making such commitments!
That’s it!

How To Recover Deleted Emails From Gmail
Occasionally deleting unwanted or spam emails is a great way to clean an out-of-control inbox. Should you accidentally delete important emails or conversations while clearing out your Gmail inbox, we’ll show you how to recover them—on mobile and PC.
The efficacy of the techniques mentioned below may depend on the deletion timeframe. Simply put, recently deleted emails have higher recovery chances—the longer you wait, the slimmer the chances of recovery. But not to worry, you can still recover permanently deleted emails from Gmail. We’ll show you how.
Table of Contents
Recover Deleted Emails from the Trash FolderAll email service providers have a dedicated “Trash” or “Bin” folder where deleted messages from your Inbox are temporarily stored. For Gmail, deleted messages and conversations stay in the Trash folder for 30 days, after which they are permanently removed from Google’s servers.
If it’s been less than 30 days since you deleted an email, head to the Trash folder to view or recover the message.
Recover Deleted Emails from the Trash Folder (Web)You can recover deleted emails from Gmail using your PC or mobile browser. If you’re accessing Gmail from a computer, move your cursor to the left sidebar to expose the menu options and select the More drop-down button.
Open the message/conversation you want to recover and select the Move to icon on the Gmail toolbar.
Select the folder, label, or group you want the deleted mail restored to. Or, use the search bar to find a group.
Quick Tip: Learn how to manage your Gmail inbox by sorting emails into labels, folders, groups, etc.
You’ll get a notification at the bottom corner of the screen informing you that the conversation was moved to your preferred folder/label.
Recover Deleted Emails from the Trash Folder (Mobile)Want to get back deleted emails from the Gmail app, simply tap the hamburger menu icon, open the Trash folder, and tap the message you want to recover.
Tap the three-dot menu icon at the top-right corner of the conversation.
Select Move to.
Choose the folder/group you want to move the deleted email to, or select the plus (+) icon at the top-right corner to create a new label.
Gmail will display a success notification on the screen.
To undelete multiple emails in the Trash folder, tap the senders’ profile icons to select the messages.
Tap the three-dot menu icon, select Move to from the menu, and choose where you want the messages moved to.
Contact Your Google Workspace AdminIf your account is part of a Google Workspace—perhaps at work, school, or in your organization—you can recover deleted emails, even after 30 days. Formerly known as G Suite, Google Workspace has a control panel (called Admin console) where users with authorized access (i.e., admins) can manage users and devices, user data, apps, and so on.
Deleted emails from Google Workspace users are moved to the Trash where they can be recovered after 30 days. However, Workspace admins have 25 extra days to recover deleted messages from the Admin console. If you no longer find a deleted message in your account’s Trash folder, contact your Google Workspace admin for help.
If you manage a Google Workspace, it’s easy to help a standard user recover a deleted email that’s over 30 days old. Sign in to the Google Admin console and go to the Users section on the homepage. Locate the users whose email you want to recover, select Restore Data, and choose Gmail in the “Application” section.
Note: Deleted emails older than 55 days are permanently removed from the Google Workspace Admin console. When this happens, no one—not even the admin—can recover the deleted messages.
Contact the Sender or ReceiverDeleting a Gmail conversation will only remove the messages from your Google account. The other party (or parties—for group emails) will still have a copy of the message/conversation. This means there’s a 50-50 chance of recovering a deleted email that’s no longer available in the Trash folder or Google Admin console. You just have to hope the sender or recipient also hasn’t deleted the message(s).
Another major limitation—not knowing or remembering the sender or recipient’s email address or contact details. That makes it impossible to communicate with parties who might have a copy of the deleted email.
Reach out to the person who sent or received the email and ask them to resend or forward the email to you. If you don’t remember the person’s email address, call or send a text message.
Enter the recipient’s email address in the To dialog box and select Send.
Use the Gmail Message Recovery ToolGoogle has a useful tool for recovering deleted emails from your Gmail account—particularly emails deleted by an unauthorized party. Access the Gmail Message Recovery Tool on your web browser and follow the instructions on the page. Log in to your Google account and select Continue to proceed.
You may be required to update your security credentials (read: password) or confirm your account information. Google will scan your account for missing or lost emails and display a recovery result afterward. If you get a success message, Google will restore permanently deleted emails to the “All Mail” tab of your Gmail inbox.
Note that the probability of the Gmail Message Recovery Tool restoring your deleted emails is also 50/50. You may get an error message (like the one below) if Google can’t recover the missing emails.
Back Up and Protect Your EmailsHow To Edit And Unsend Messages On Iphone
Have you ever pressed “Send” on a text message, only to discover a horrible typo, or worse, that you sent the message to the wrong person? The team at Apple has finally found a workaround for these errors, and it’s available to all iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS 16. One iOS 16 benefit is the ability to unsend and edit sent messages. Yet, like with all other iOS updates, learning how to use these new features may not be obvious. With a little help, though, you can quickly master these new messaging features.
How to Unsend Messages on iPhoneIf you accidentally send a message from your iPhone or need to remove it quickly, you can now unsend messages by following these steps:
Make sure the correct conversation is open.
Long-press on the message you wish to unsend.
Tap “Undo Send.”
The exploding animation will let you know that the message was deleted.
Issues With Unsending MessagesUnfortunately, this new feature isn’t without its drawbacks. Most importantly, you can only unsend a message within two minutes of pressing “Send.” So you better catch that typo quickly, as the clock is ticking!
Also, this feature is exclusive to iOS 16. If your intended recipient hasn’t upgraded, they will likely still see the message you tried to unsend. The feature also doesn’t work if you are text messaging an Android user. Messages cannot be unsent.
How to Edit Sent Messages on iPhoneIn addition to unsending messages altogether, you can edit messages that just have minor typos by following these steps.
Open the conversation with the message you’d like to edit.
Long-press on the message.
Tap “Edit.”
Rewrite the entire message with the correction in the small text box that appears.
Tap the blue checkmark to save the edited version of your message.
Issues With Editing Sent MessagesUnfortunately, editing messages on iOS 16 isn’t a flawless concept either. You have just 15 minutes to edit a message you previously sent. Even then, you can only edit the same message up to five times before it cuts you off.
Also, the feature only works with iOS 16, which means those using iOS 15 and lower and Android users will still see each variation of the message when they open the conversation.
How to Recover Deleted Messages on iPhoneSometimes buttons get pressed and messages get deleted by mistake, but you can now recover deleted messages if you have upgraded to iOS 16.
Go to Messages and tap “Edit” in the upper-left corner.
Tap on “Show Recently Deleted.”
Select the conversation(s) with the messages you want to restore.
Tap “Recover.”
Choose “Recover Message” when the prompt appears on the screen.
You can only recover messages you’ve deleted within the past 30 days.
Frequently Asked Questions Can I see a text message after I unsend it?No. Unlike the Delete Message feature that has been available on iOS for quite some time, unsending a message won’t archive it in your deleted items. Instead, the message will simply disappear.
Why can’t Android users see when I edit or unsend messages?Unfortunately, the Messages app on iOS uses a different technology than Android’s Message app, so messages sent between the two operating systems rely on SMS messaging. This type of text messaging is severely outdated and doesn’t support many features of iMessage, such as unsending or editing messages.

How To Monitor Text Messages On Your Child’s Iphone
These days, most children have access to an iPhone or an iPad, either their own, or one that belongs to their parents. However, this could lead to the kids being exposed to inappropriate content, online predators, and such. Therefore, it’s necessary that parents provide guidance and take precautions. The easiest way to keep an eye on your child and their phone usage is to monitor the device and text messages.
In this article, we’re going to show you how you can monitor text messages on your child’s iPhone or iPad.
Also see: How to limit kids’ access to apps and media to only those with age-appropriate ratings
How to monitor text messages on your child’s iPhone or iPadOf course, it’s important to respect the privacy of your children, but it’s also best to keep an eye as kids can be influenced easily. There are a couple of ways to keep an eye on your kid. You can enable Parent control on their devices, restrict your kids Screen Time on iPhone or iPad, or just check their phone from time to time. There are also several paid software and apps available that can monitor messages, location, and more.
However, when it comes to monitoring text messages, there are two free methods that you can use on the iPhone.
Note: These methods will only work for text messages, and not other messages sent via WhatsApp or other messaging services.
Use iCloud SyncYou can use the iCloud sync feature in iOS to receive text messages from your child’s iPhone. This means that you’ll have to know your child’s Apple ID and password. You would also have access to the device to allow messages to be synced to iCloud. This method will also give you access to other things such as Photos, Apps, and more. Here’s how to do this.
1) On your child’s iPhone, launch Settings app.
2) Tap on the Profile name and select iCloud.
3) Slide the toggle next to Messages under Apps using iCloud.
The iPhone will take some time to sync the messages to iCloud. Once completed, you can sign in using the same Apple ID and password on another iPhone or Mac, and have access to all the shared data. Again, make sure that you have access to your child’s iPhone when you sign in on another iPhone. Apple will send a notification, and you wouldn’t want your kid to see that, unless you’re open about monitoring their messages.
Forward text messagesAnother free method is text forwarding on iOS. You can simply set up the messages on your child’s iPhone to be forwarded to your iPhone or Mac. Once again, you’ll need access to your child’s iPhone to set this up. Follow the steps below to do this.
1) Launch Settings on your iPhone.
2) Scroll down and select Messages.
3) Tap on Send & Receive. You should see a page showing your current numbers.
4) If you’ve not set up an Apple ID, you can select Use your Apple ID for iMessage option. Now select Use Other Apple ID.
5) Enter your child’s Apple ID and Password to Sign In.
6) Go back to Messages, enable Text Message Forwarding and choose a device where you want the messages to be delivered.
You should now receive a verification code, which you’ll need to enter on the device to confirm text forwarding. Henceforth, all the messages coming to your child’s iPhone will also be forwarded to your iPhone or Mac.
To track your child’s location, you may want to use the Find My app on your iPhone.
Wrapping upIn this digital world, a lot of bad things can happen online, and mobile devices such as iPhones are one of the mediums. If your child has access to an iPhone or iPad, you must be aware and careful. It’s easy to monitor text messages and find out if someone bad is targeting your child. There are other things you can keep an eye on as well, with the help of apps and software. We hope this tutorial helped you learn how to track text messages on your child’s iPhone.
