Have you ever wanted to unsend an email that you just sent to someone? Outlook has a feature that allows you to recall your emails after you send them, but what if you use a different email client like Gmail?

Why Unsend Your Emails

There can be any number of situations in which you might want to cancel sending an email after you hit Send. The most common of them include:

Sending an email to the wrong recipient.

We’ve all accidentally sent an email to the wrong person before. Maybe you hit the wrong name when choosing the recipient among your contacts. Maybe you know two people with the same name and forgot to double check before sending the email to the wrong Alex. Either way, you might not want to share this email’s contents with someone it wasn’t meant for. Especially if it contains some sensitive or private information.

Accidentally sending an email that’s incomplete.

Even if you double checked the address line before sending out your email, you might later realize that you forgot to include something in it. Whether it’s an important link, an attachment, or some other details – sending it separately in another message isn’t always very convenient.

Finding mistakes in your email after it’s been sent.

Have you ever finished your email with “retards” instead of “regards”? We’re all humans and mistakes happen. Spell checker doesn’t always catch all of them, so you might notice some mistakes only after sending the message. Gmail lets you fix this and many other problems by allowing you to unsend your emails.

How to Enable the Undo Send Feature in Gmail

The feature that allows you to unsend an email in Gmail after it’s been sent is called Undo Send. By default, this feature is turned off, so you first need to enable it before you can start using it.

To enable the Undo Send feature in Gmail, follow the steps below.

Open Gmail and log into your account.

In the upper-right corner of the window, select the gear icon to open Settings.

    Select See all settings.

In the General tab next to the Undo Send, select the maximum range of 30 seconds.

Scroll down and select Save Changes.

After enabling this feature, you’ll now be able to unsend your email for up to 30 seconds after you hit Send if you realize you forgot something or want to double check the address line.

How to Unsend an Email in Gmail

When you realize that you want to cancel a sent email, you have a few different ways to do it, depending on whether you’re using Gmail on your computer or on your smartphone.

How to Unsend an Email on Your Computer

If you’re using Gmail on your computer, follow the steps below to unsend an email.

After you hit Send, search for a menu bar in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

Select Undo from the menu bar.

You’ll see a Sending undone confirmation on your screen. That means you’ve successfully cancelled your email.

If you didn’t get the confirmation, then you didn’t manage to cancel your email within the 30 seconds and it has gone through. You can also go to Sent and see if your email is there to confirm this.

After you receive the Sending undone confirmation, you get the original email back on the screen. You can either make changes and send it again, save it as draft for later, or delete it.

How to Unsend an Email Using a Gmail Shortcut

You should then see the same Sending undone confirmation message appear on your screen. Note that this method will only work if you already have keyboard shortcuts enabled in Gmail. You can do it via the Settings, in the same General tab that you used to enable the Undo Send feature.

How to Unsend an Email in Gmail on Your Smartphone

You can also use your Gmail mobile app to unsend an email. To do that, follow the steps below.

After you hit Send, select Undo at the bottom of your screen.

You’ll see a message appear confirming your email cancelation.

Gmail will then take you back to the original email window, so that you can edit, delete the message, or save it as draft.

Take Full Control Over Your Emails

Gmail is a powerful email client as it gives you a lot of freedom and control over your emails. Besides the ability to unsend a sent email in Gmail, you can also learn to schedule your emails to be sent later or transfer your emails between different Gmail accounts. However, not all of the features are that obvious, and sometimes you have to learn hidden tips and tricks to organize your emails better.

Create A Gmail Desktop App With These 3 Email Clients

In spite of the massive boom that is social media, whether for work or leisure, email is still an often used way of keeping in touch with others and managing your busy day. None more so than those who plant themselves in front of a computer all day, be it at work or home.

Even though, when it comes to reading emails, you’re more likely to have your eyes glued to a mobile device, the computer still holds an important role. This is especially true when dealing with multiple email accounts.

            Table of Contents

A PC is actually more convenient for email multitasking than a mobile phone. The issue with a PC that makes email reliance less desirable is having to deal with the varying interfaces of each email service.

The built-in Google web interface of Gmail is definitely one such service that could use some improvements. Luckily for you, Windows 10 provides plenty of viable alternatives for a Gmail desktop app.

Create a Gmail Desktop App With These 3 Email Clients

The three email clients below are some of the best you can find for a Windows 10 Gmail desktop app. We’ve decided not to add the Windows 10 Mail app to the list as we much prefer these other options. Each one has been designed primarily for Gmail in mind even though they will still work for other email services as well.

There are two options when it comes to an account: Mailbird Personal which costs $14.50 per year or a one time payment of $59 and Mailbird Business valued at $24.50 annually. It is also available for free, known as Mailbird Lite, with less of the additional features. This is automatically chosen for you after the free trial period has ended without selecting one of the other two payment tiers.

Once downloaded, launch the installer and proceed through the installation process.

The initial window will ask for an email account to add where you’ll need to enter the name and email address of the account.

Once Mailbird locates the account, you’ll receive a similar window:

Here you can select your preferred layout and color theme.

Next, a window to connect your favorite apps:

Then one that asks if you’d like to add more any more accounts:

Once finished, you can then either activate your free trial of Mailbird Business, or if already purchased, input the received activation code.

Another feature-rich addition to the list would have to be eM Client. It is a well-established email client which has been around for more than a decade. The UI is clean and very familiar to those who have used Microsoft Outlook.

eM Client comes with a unique sidebar that will help you save a lot of time. The features include communication history, attachment history, agenda list, and chat. Gmail desktop integration is relatively quick and simple and the setup takes very little time at all.

Home use is available for free but is capped at two email accounts max. The free version is rather limited so if you need additional features, they offer a premium version at a one-time cost of $50.

You’ll then need to login through the Gmail web app after which it will prompt you to open eM Client.

Depending on how much information is in need of being moved over, the synchronization process could take some time. You can still use eM Client while waiting for the syncing process to complete.

Multitasking and managing multiple Gmail accounts is incredibly simple with Thunderbird. It supports many add-ons and extensions to help with these tasks. If you’re looking for an email client that continues to evolve and would make a great Gmail desktop app, Thunderbird should be a name to remember.

A configuration should be found for the email address you entered.

Next, you’ll need to choose what information to integrate into Thunderbird from your Gmail account. You can choose to have it sync everything each time you login. Afterwards, you can begin enjoying Thunderbird.

How To Unsend Imessages On Iphone In Ios 16 (2023)

Nothing feels more awkward than accidentally sending a message to the wrong person and then saying sorry out of embarrassment. Well, the good thing is that we have all gone through this situation. So, I do not think that I need to emphasize more on why an “Unsend” button has become the need of the hour.

Thankfully, most popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram have already adopted this essential feature. With iOS 16, Apple has also added the ability to delete an already sent iMessage. If you are yet to try out this new add-on, let’s learn how to unsend iMessages on iPhone in iOS 16.

Undo Send iMessages in iOS 16 on iPhone

While the option to delete messages in Apple Messages works as expected, there are certain limitations that you must keep in mind.

For the “Undo Send” feature to work, all the devices must be running iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or macOS 13 Ventura or later.

If a person is using older versions of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, he/she will continue to see the original message.

And if the person is using the compatible operating systems, he/she will get an alert that the message has been deleted. Yeah, this is privacy-intrusive, but something that you will need to deal with.

Therefore, the recipient of the message will easily find out that you have deleted the sent iMessage.

Now, the biggest question is, will they ever know what the message was? No/Yes! If the recipient has not seen the preview of your original message, they will not know anything about the message.

On top of all, Apple offers a limited time frame for unsending an iMessage. You must undo send an iMessage within 15 minutes after sending. Otherwise, you will not be able to delete your message.

Quick Way to Undo Send an iMessage in iOS 16

Though we have focused on iOS 16, the steps are the same for iPadOS 16 as well. So, irrespective of whether you are using an iPhone or rocking an iPad, you can delete an accidentally sent iMessage with ease.

            1. On your iPhone running, open the Apple Messages app.

            2. Now, go to the conversation thread where you would like to delete an already sent message.

            3. After that, find the message that you would like to get rid of. Then, touch and hold on the sent message and hit Undo Send in the popup menu!

The message will instantly disappear with a cool animation. Since there is no confirmation, make sure to use it carefully.

That’s pretty much all you have to do to delete an iMessage for everyone on your iPhone or iPad. You can repeat the above steps to get rid of more messages.

            My Critical Thoughts…

Even though I’m more or less content with the Undo Send feature, I want Apple to make a couple of changes to make it even more helpful.

First and foremost, it would be better if Apple made this feature compatible with older versions of iOS. Second, when the message has been deleted, alerting the recipient about the deletion of the message sounds foolish. Moreover, it also tends to expose the privacy of the sender.

What do you think of this newly-added iOS 16 feature? Make sure to share your feedback with us.

How To Update An Email Password On Iphone & Ipad

Wondering how you can update an email password on iPhone or iPad for the Mail app? If you changed the password to an email account that is used on iPhone or iPad, you likely want to update that email password so the email address account continues to work on that device.

This article will show you how to update an email account password for the Mail app on iPhone and iPad. This is usually only necessary if the email password has been changed, reset, or cleared.

How to Change or Update an Email Password on iPhone and iPad

Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad

Go to “Mail” (on earlier iOS versions, go to “Passwords & Accounts” or choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”)

Tap on the email address account you want to update and change the email password for

Tap the ‘Account’ field again to access email account login and server details

Tap in the “Password” field and clear any existing password, entering the new changed password to update the email password, then tap on “Done” when finished

Go back or exit out of settings when finished

If you need to update and change any other email passwords you can do so the same way.

It’s always a good idea to confirm that the email account is working as intended after updating a password or changing a password. Simply opening the Mail app on iPhone or iPad and sending yourself an email using the account you updated the password for is usually sufficient to confirm that everything is working as expected.

If you have multiple email accounts setup for use in Mail app then changing the Sent From email address to the one you just updated the password for is recommended (note that does not change the default email address used on the device, it’s only for sending that specific email). If you can both send and receive the email just fine for the account that was updated, the password was updated successfully and you can go about your business. If it fails, you likely entered the password wrong when updating the field, so returning to the Mail settings and trying again is a good idea.

Remember, this is aimed at updating an email password that has been changed through the email service. For example, if you reset a password that was forgotten, or changed the email password to something different or more secure.

If you want to reset or change the email password to something totally different rather than simply update it, you would need to do that through the email provider separately, for example through iCloud, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, or whatever the email provider is. Then after changing the email password through the email service, you would use that changed password to update the email password on the iPhone or iPad.

You might also need to do this as a troubleshooting procedure sometimes, as sometimes some email providers appear to drop a password from the Mail settings, or if you change the Apple ID email or the email address linked to an Apple ID and had reset the password in that process too.

How To Snooze Messages On Gmail

If you get a lot of emails on a daily basis, you may have a hard time going through the ones that are important to you. Even if you spare yourself the time to open every email that you receive, there’s still a chance that you may forget to send a response to some of them, if you’re occupied with a task at hand.

In those situations, you may want to save an email for later viewing so it doesn’t bother you at present and you can take a look at it later when you’re free. Thanks to Gmail, you can use the Snooze function on emails that you receive in your inbox so that they disappear from your inbox for a certain period and re-appear when you want them to.

In this post, we’ll help you understand what Gmail’s snooze feature is all about, how it works and how you can use it to view emails at a later time.

            What is snooze on Gmail?

Snoozing a message on Gmail allows users to pause conversations for a limited time so they can get back to them at a later time. You can delay an email for any date or time in the future and when the time comes, Gmail will notify you about the email in the same fashion as a new email. When you use Snooze, you have the option to postpone an email until later today, tomorrow, this weekend, next week, or add a custom date and time for several months or years later.

Emails that you snooze inside Gmail will disappear instantly from your inbox and be moved to a Snoozed folder where you can access all the emails you paused previously. You can snooze any email you want from your inbox including both read and unread messages across any category like primary, updates, or promotions. When snoozing emails that have multiple messages, Gmail will treat them as any other emails, thus removing the entire thread from your inbox and transferring it to the Snoozed folder.

            How to snooze an email

If you have an email that you want to look at sometime later, you can use the snooze feature to postpone its notification by following the steps below.

            On the web

In the overflow menu that appears, select a time you wish to be notified of this email. You can choose any of the default times from this menu – Later today, Tomorrow, This weekend, or Next week. Besides each of these options, you’ll be able to see the date and time for when the snooze time ends.

You’ll see a “Conversation snoozed” banner at the bottom left corner of the Gmail screen. The selected email will be instantly sent to the Snoozed folder inside Gmail.

            Snooze multiple emails in bulk:

            On phone

To snooze an email on your iPhone or Android phone, open the Gmail app on your Android or iOS device. Now, select an email you’ve received that you want to snooze.

When the main opens, tap on the 3-dot icon at the top right corner.

In the menu that appears, select Snooze.

You’ll now see an overflow menu that gives you a preset duration to snooze the message. You can select an option from this menu according to your preference – Later today, Tomorrow, This weekend, or Next week. Underneath each of these options, you’ll see the date and time for when the snooze ends.

If you wish to set a custom time for snoozing the mail, tap on Select date and time.

A new screen will pop up showing a calendar among other options. Here, select the date you wish to be notified of the selected message from the calendar.

To choose a custom time, tap on Time and then select Customized.

Now, choose a preferred time to turn off snooze for the message at the bottom and then tap on Next.

To set this time, tap on Save at the top right corner.

            Snooze multiple emails in bulk:

You can also snooze multiple emails at once on your phone by long-pressing on any one of the emails you want to snooze and subsequently selecting more emails that you want to snooze. Once you’ve selected a bunch of emails, tap on the 3-dot icon.

Next, select Snooze from the popup menu and follow the steps as before to snooze all the selected emails.

What happens when you snooze a message on Gmail?

If you snooze an email that has multiple messages inside it, Gmail will snooze all of the messages, i.e., the entire thread and not just the last message that was sent to you. This means the whole conversation will be removed from your inbox and sent to the Snoozed folder.

When you snooze an email from someone, Gmail will only snooze the selected email and no other email. This means you may receive a notification when the same person sends another email to you.

This also applies to messages sent to a snoozed email. During the snooze period, if you receive a reply to an email that you snoozed, this email will be unsnoozed automatically. You’ll get a notification about this message and if you want the conversation to remain snoozed, you will have to manually snooze it again.

When the snooze period is over, the snoozed email will reappear inside your Gmail inbox and you’ll receive a notification for it the same way you would for a new email. One way to distinguish between notifications of new emails and snoozed emails is that the latter ones will have a “Snoozed” label on them. Snoozed emails will occupy the top of your inbox when their snooze duration is over and they will stay at the top until new emails arrive in your inbox.

How is it different from Archive and Mute on Gmail?

Snoozing is just one way to move messages from your inbox, there are other ways to do it – you can either archive an email or mute it. But how do these three options differ from each other?

Let’s start with snooze. Snoozing an email only temporarily removes it from your inbox and it will appear again when the snooze period is over or if there’s a new message inside the conversation you previously snoozed. You have the option to decide when you want these emails to move back to your inbox and at any time, you can look at them inside the Snoozed folder.

In the case of archiving emails, the messages are removed from your inbox but they aren’t sent to a specific folder like in the case of snoozing. Instead, archived emails will appear alongside other emails you’ve received inside the All Mail folder. While you can unarchive the mails that you previously archived, you may have a hard time finding these emails in the first place if you don’t remember the emails’ senders or their subjects. Similar to snoozing, however, a new message inside an archived mail will automatically unarchive it and send it back to your inbox and you will also get a notification when you receive it.

Muting an email inside Gmail permanently hides the email from your inbox and this email will now only appear inside the All Mail folder inside your account. Unlike archiving, when you mute an email, it won’t reappear in your inbox even if a new message is in the same thread, and thus, there won’t be any alerts when you receive a reply inside it. Similar to archived emails, muted emails are also harder to unmute as they aren’t visible inside a separate folder of their own, just listed alongside other emails inside your account’s All Mail folder.

How to access your snoozed emails

When an email is snoozed, it’s sent to the Snoozed folder inside your Gmail account. If you wish to access them, you can follow these steps to view all the emails you snoozed and open them even during their snooze duration.

            On the web

            On phone

To see snoozed emails on your phone, open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android device and tap on the Hamburger menu at the top left corner.

In the sidebar that appears, select Snoozed.

You can open any of your snoozed emails and it will open like any other email on Gmail. Once a message is opened, you will see the Snoozed label yet again at the top indicating the time when the snooze duration ends.

How to unsnooze messages on Gmail

Snoozed emails can be prematurely unsnoozed, even before their snooze period is over. If you want to unsnooze emails on your own and send them back to your Gmail inbox, you can do that by following the steps below.

            On the web

In the menu that appears, select Unsnooze.

The selected email will now be unsnoozed and will reappear inside your inbox.

When you do that, you should see a “Conversation unsnoozed” banner appear at the bottom left corner.

You can also unsnooze multiple emails at once by checking the boxes on the left side of the emails you want to unsnooze within the Snoozed folder.

All the selected emails will now be unsnoozed.

            On phone

To unsnooze messages on your phone, open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android device and tap on the Hamburger menu at the top left corner.

In the sidebar that appears, select Snoozed.

On the next screen, you will see all the emails you’ve snoozed along with the information about how long they’ve been snoozed.

To unsnooze a single email, select it from this screen.

When the snoozed email opens, tap on the 3-dot icon at the top right corner.

In the menu that appears, select Unsnooze.

You should now see a “Moved to Inbox” banner at the bottom.

If you want to unsnooze a bunch of emails at once, tap and hold on any of these messages and then start selecting the messages you want unsnoozed. When the messages are selected, tap on the 3-dot icon at the top right.

In the pop-up screen, select Unsnooze.

The selected emails will now reappear inside your inbox.

Why should use snooze on Gmail?

Snoozing an email can be beneficial when you’re getting a ton of emails and not all of them are junk or spam. Since these emails can be important to your work or lifestyle, you can snooze them to make sure you are reminded about them at a later time instead of relying on your memory. This way, you can continue the task at hand and not be bothered by new messages.

At any time, when someone replies to an email you snooze, it will appear inside your inbox and this email will be automatically unsnoozed. This way, you won’t miss out on emails that are of high priority.

That’s all you need to know about snoozing emails on Gmail.

How To Edit And Unsend Messages On Iphone

Have you ever pressed “Send” on a text message, only to discover a horrible typo, or worse, that you sent the message to the wrong person? The team at Apple has finally found a workaround for these errors, and it’s available to all iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS 16. One iOS 16 benefit is the ability to unsend and edit sent messages. Yet, like with all other iOS updates, learning how to use these new features may not be obvious. With a little help, though, you can quickly master these new messaging features.

How to Unsend Messages on iPhone

If you accidentally send a message from your iPhone or need to remove it quickly, you can now unsend messages by following these steps:

Make sure the correct conversation is open.

Long-press on the message you wish to unsend.

            Tap “Undo Send.”

The exploding animation will let you know that the message was deleted.

            Issues With Unsending Messages

Unfortunately, this new feature isn’t without its drawbacks. Most importantly, you can only unsend a message within two minutes of pressing “Send.” So you better catch that typo quickly, as the clock is ticking!

Also, this feature is exclusive to iOS 16. If your intended recipient hasn’t upgraded, they will likely still see the message you tried to unsend. The feature also doesn’t work if you are text messaging an Android user. Messages cannot be unsent.

How to Edit Sent Messages on iPhone

In addition to unsending messages altogether, you can edit messages that just have minor typos by following these steps.

Open the conversation with the message you’d like to edit.

            Long-press on the message.

            Tap “Edit.”

Rewrite the entire message with the correction in the small text box that appears.

Tap the blue checkmark to save the edited version of your message.

            Issues With Editing Sent Messages

Unfortunately, editing messages on iOS 16 isn’t a flawless concept either. You have just 15 minutes to edit a message you previously sent. Even then, you can only edit the same message up to five times before it cuts you off.

Also, the feature only works with iOS 16, which means those using iOS 15 and lower and Android users will still see each variation of the message when they open the conversation.

How to Recover Deleted Messages on iPhone

Sometimes buttons get pressed and messages get deleted by mistake, but you can now recover deleted messages if you have upgraded to iOS 16.

Go to Messages and tap “Edit” in the upper-left corner.

            Tap on “Show Recently Deleted.”

Select the conversation(s) with the messages you want to restore.

            Tap “Recover.”

Choose “Recover Message” when the prompt appears on the screen.

You can only recover messages you’ve deleted within the past 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions Can I see a text message after I unsend it?

No. Unlike the Delete Message feature that has been available on iOS for quite some time, unsending a message won’t archive it in your deleted items. Instead, the message will simply disappear.

Why can’t Android users see when I edit or unsend messages?

Unfortunately, the Messages app on iOS uses a different technology than Android’s Message app, so messages sent between the two operating systems rely on SMS messaging. This type of text messaging is severely outdated and doesn’t support many features of iMessage, such as unsending or editing messages.
