Suggested December 2023 How To Use Focus Mode On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac To Reduce Distractions

Sometimes it can feel like avoiding distractions is impossible with our devices. Whether you’re working, reading, meditating, or spending quality time with family, it seems like there’s always a text message, app alert, or phone call. Unfortunately, you might be in a position where you can’t just turn off your phone, silence it, or even ignore it.

Luckily, Apple introduced the Focus feature with iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey which can help. When you use Focus mode, you can customize which notifications, calls, and alerts you receive. What’s more, you can set up a specific Home screen displaying only those apps you want to allow during Focus time, let others know you’re unavailable, and share your settings across your other Apple devices.

Table of Contents

Let’s dig into how you can make the most of this useful new Focus feature and reduce distractions.

Set Up Focus Mode on iPhone and iPad

To set up a new Focus mode on iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app and select Focus. Choose Do Not Disturb, Driving, or Sleep. You can also set up a Personal or Work focus if you prefer.

Allowed Notifications

Below Allowed Notifications, you can let calls and alerts from specific people or apps come through during Focus time.

People: Under Allowed People, tap Add Person to select someone from your Contacts. Under Also Allow, choose to receive calls from your Favorites, Groups, No One, or another option.

Apps (not available for Driving): Under Allowed Apps, tap Add App to choose an app you want to receive notifications from and optionally enable the toggle for Time Sensitive notifications.

Options

Below Options, you can turn on Focus Status and customize the Home and Lock screen appearances.

Focus Status: With this enabled, a message displays that you have silenced your notifications. Others can see this in places like the Messages app.

Home Screen (not available for Driving): You can hide the notification badges and select a custom Home screen to only display certain apps. This is handy if your Focus time is for work and you only want to see specific apps like Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Lock Screen (not available for Driving): You can dim the display and show silenced notifications on the Lock screen.

Auto-Reply (Driving only): Create automatic replies for your Favorites, all Contacts, your recents, or no one.

Turn On Automatically

Below Turn On Automatically, you can set up a schedule for Do Not Disturb and a custom Focus, automatically enable the Driving Focus when driving, and view the Sleep schedule you set up in the Health app.

Share Across Devices

When you head back to the main Focus settings, you’ll see a toggle for Share Across Devices. Turn this on to sync the Focus modes with your Apple devices.

Set Up a Focus on Mac

To set up a new Focus mode on your Mac, open the System Preferences using the icon in your Dock or Apple icon in the menu bar. Then, select Notifications & Focus.

Go to the Focus tab and pick Do Not Disturb, Driving, or Sleep on the left.

Allowed Notifications From

Like on iPhone, you can choose which people or apps to receive notifications from during Focus time. Pick People or Apps at the top of that box and use the plus sign to add one.

Select Options to customize Time-sensitive notifications, allowed calls, and repeated calls.

Turn On Automatically, Automation, and Schedule

At the bottom of the Focus tab is a spot for scheduling and automation. For Do Not Disturb or a custom Focus, you can set up a schedule and quickly enable or disable that schedule.

For Driving and Sleep, you can set up those automatic options on your iPhone or iPad.

Share Focus Status and Share Across Devices

The last Focus settings available on Mac are to Share Focus Status and Share Across Devices. Simply check one or both boxes to enable these extra features.

Create a Custom Focus on iPhone and iPad

Apple provides you with the above presets you can use for Focus mode. As you can see, Do Not Disturb, Driving, and Sleep are now part of Focus. In addition, you can use a Personal, Work, Fitness, Gaming, Mindfulness, Reading or a completely custom Focus.

Create a Custom Focus on Mac

If you pick Custom, you’ll be asked to assign a name, color, and icon before it’s added to the list. If you pick another activity such as Gaming, it will simply display in the list at the top.

With your new Focus selected on the left, use the settings on the right to configure the options described earlier.

      Turn On Focus Mode

Once you set up the Focus mode(s) you want available to you, you can enable whichever one you want manually anytime, even if they are scheduled or automatic.

On iPhone and iPad, do one of the following:

Open Control Center, tap Focus, and choose the Focus mode you want to use.

Open Settings, select Focus, tap the Focus mode you want to use, and enable the toggle.

On Mac, do one of the following:

Open Control Center, select Focus, and choose the Focus mode you want to use.

Open System Preferences, go to Notifications & Focus, select the Focus mode on the left, and enable the toggle on the right.

You can turn off Focus manually using any of the above actions and then either deselect the Focus mode or disable the toggle.

      Delete a Focus

If you decide later that you no longer need a Focus mode you’ve set up and prefer to remove it completely rather than just disable it, you can delete a Focus on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

On iPhone and iPad, open the Focus settings and choose the mode. At the bottom, tap Delete Focus and confirm by tapping Delete Focus.

Remember, any Focus you create syncs with your other Apple devices. This means if you delete a Focus on iPhone, it will be deleted on Mac and vice versa.

Using the Focus feature on your Apple devices, you can minimize interruptions while working, reading, exercising, or simply relaxing.

How To Use Security Keys For Apple Id On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

What is Security Keys for Apple ID?

A security key is a physical device or USB flash drive that provides an additional layer of authentication when logging in to your Apple ID account. The protection comes in the form of two-factor authentication (2FA) and aids in preventing unauthorized access. It is usually a set of random numbers and letters that are used to confirm your identity.

By connecting this device to your system, you can verify your identity and securely access your account without the need for additional passwords or key phrases. This prevents most forms of account hijacking, phishing, and other malicious attempts to access your account.

These keys are considered one of the most secure forms of authentication and are recommended by Apple to keep your account safe. For added security, you can use a combination of your password and a physical security key when signing in.

Requirements to use Security Keys on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

I hope the brief explanation on the importance and use of a security key has interested you in trying one out for yourself. But wait, there are some things you must consider before exploring security keys for your device.

Your iOS or iPadOS device must be updated to 16.3 or later.

If you’re a Mac user, you must operate Ventura 13.2 and later.

You must have access to a minimum of two FIDO® Certified security keys before you get started.

Your Apple ID must have two-factor authentication turned on.

In case you are using a web browser to sign in to your Apple ID, make sure it’s updated with the latest version.

If you’re trying to log in to your Apple TV, HomePod, or Apple Watch via a security key, you must have the necessary software in your iPhone or iPad supporting the same.

      Security Keys recommended by Apple

It’s very natural to get lost in the search for the best security key out there. It’s an aspect of security one cannot compromise on.

Hence, I bring you the best security keys you can choose based on your preference and budget. Furthermore, these keys are FIDO® U2F Certified and recommended by Apple, so don’t hesitate to have a look.

In any case, if you go out of your way to buy a security key on your own, make sure it’s FIDO® Certified and not a knockoff, as it might compromise your data. For more on that, go through our detailed review of Yubico Security Key.

How to add a security key to Apple ID on iPhone, iPad, or Mac

If you’ve checked on all boxes of prerequisites and are ready to secure your Apple ID, let’s have a peek through the steps of setting up security keys for your Apple device.

      On iPhone and iPad

      Launch the Settings app.

Select your Apple ID → navigate to Passwords and Security.

      Enter your Passcode if prompted.

Now, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Make sure to review all devices associated with your Apple ID.

Ensure to cross-verify the devices and sign out from the devices you want to prevent access in the future.

      On Mac

At last, you’ll be prompted to review all connected devices to your Apple ID. You can remove the devices you don’t want to access.

You can pair up to six security keys with compatible software to your Apple ID. However, it’s wise to have at least two keys just in case you lose one.

Note: Devices paired with your Apple ID that have been inactive for 90 days will automatically log out. In this scenario, you’ll have to log back in with the following method of your preference.

How to use security keys to sign in to your Apple ID on iPhone

Now that you’ve got the gist of setting your security key to your preference, let’s understand the steps to make the most of this security service.

Use security keys to sign in to a website, device, or app

If you’re trying to sign in to a new device, plug your security key on the login page.

Now, follow the instructions as prompted.

Unlock your Apple ID using Security Key

In any hope of remembering your password, there is a high chance that you may have entered an incorrect password for your Apple ID six times in a row. In this situation, you’re barred from entering or changing your password manually. But the security key can help you get there.

Simply plug in your security key and tap Unlock Account.

If you believe your password has been stolen or leaked, I’d recommend changing it.

Reset your Apple ID password using Security Key

If you’ve forgotten the password to your Apple ID, you can reset the same using the security key. Below, I am showing the method for Mac.

Navigate to System Settings → Your account → Password and Security.

If you can’t remember the password of your Apple ID, use the security key to log in.

How to remove security keys on iPhone

As mentioned above, a maximum of six keys can be paired through one Apple ID. If you want to pair a new key, you’ll have to remove an old one.

Head over to Settings on iPhone → tap on your account → Password and Security → Security Keys.

Select the key you desire to remove → tap Remove.

Alternatively, if you want to remove all keys simultaneously, tap Remove All.

Remember that if you remove all keys at once, your device will automatically return to passcode verification for two-factor authentication.

Note: While making changes to your Apple ID via a security key, ensure that the key is already paired with a trusted device.

Troubleshooting common issues with Security Keys

There is no ultimate solution to every problem. Unfortunately, the same applies to security keys, as specific issues can arise while accessing certain features. The good news is, troubleshooting these problems is relatively simple.

Ensure that the security key is compatible with the device. Security keys may not work if your device is not updated as required.

Ensure that the security key is correctly inserted into the iPhone’s lightning port.

If you are using a USB security key, ensure the USB port is clean and free of dust and debris.

If you are using an NFC security key, ensure your iPhone is within the range of the NFC signal.

If the above steps do not work, there may be an issue with the hardware of the security key itself. In this case, replacing the key with a new one may be necessary.

Security keys can’t be used for Child accounts and Managed Apple IDs.

In addition, if you cannot address a particular issue on your own, contact your security key manufacturer for further assistance.

      FAQs

What kind of security keys are supported by Apple devices?

Apple devices support security keys that comply with the FIDO2 or U2F standards, such as YubiKey, and FEITIAN.

How do I use a security key to log in to a website or app?

Whenever you’re asked to log in to a website or app, plug your security key into your Apple device’s Lightning or USB-C port, and wait for a few moments for your identity to be verified.

What should I do if my security key is lost or stolen?

If your security key is lost or stolen, you should remove it from your accounts and replace it with a new security key. You should also consider changing your passwords and enabling two-factor authentication on your accounts for added security.

Are security keys required for all online accounts?

No, not all online accounts support security keys. However, many popular websites and services, such as Google, YouTube, and Docs, support security keys as an optional form of authentication.

      Protect and play!

In conclusion, security keys are a great way to protect your data. They provide strong authentication, help prevent phishing attacks, and are more secure than passwords. Generating a habit of using security keys on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac is simple and straightforward. Once you ensure that your devices are compatible with security keys, you can plug in and secure your entire online presence to your preference.

How To Add Text To A Photo On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

Add text to an image on iPhone and iPad

There are a couple of easy ways.

      Using Apple’s Photos app

The Markup feature of the stock iOS Photos app lets you add text to your pictures and screenshots. You have the option to use any color of your choice, pick a font size, and use one of the three font styles.

Here’s how to quickly add text to a picture for free on your iPhone or iPad:

      1) Go inside the Photos app and open the image you want to add text to.

      2) Tap Edit.

      3) Tap the Markup button.

      4) Now, tap the plus button (+) and select the Text tool.

      5) Double-tap the “Text” box and type your words. After that, tap anywhere on the photo to hide the on-screen keyboard.

      6) Tap your text to select it. Now, tap AA to select a font style, size, and alignment. Next, pick a suggested color from the bottom or tap the color palette dot to use a custom color and set the opacity. You can also tap the color picker icon from the top left and drag it on the image to pick a color that matches that portion of the image.

      Using Phonto

Phonto is a highly-rated free app that offers various styles and easy options to put text over your image.

      1) Download the Phonto app on your iPhone or iPad and open it.

      2) Tap the camera icon from the bottom and select Photo Albums. After this, allow the app to access your photo library.

      3) Pick the image you want to add text to.

      4) Tap Done to exit the filter screen.

      5) Once you’re inside the main editor, tap anywhere over the image and choose Add Text.

      6) Type what you want to say, then select one of the various font styles and symbols. You can also pick from left, right, or center alignments. And if you tap Preset, you can add today’s date as the text. Note that you can later change these presets to custom text from the app’s settings pane. Tap Done once you have taken care of everything here.

      7) Drag the text to the appropriate spot on the image. You can also pick an option from the sub-menu that appears. Here’s what they do:

Text: This will bring you back to the text-input screen you had in Step 6.

      Font: Select a font.

Style: It has many options like text color, stroke (text boundary), background, shadow, spacing, underline, and blend. It will take a while to get accustomed to everything here. Remember to use the Color and Style tabs from the top.

Size: Increase or decrease the text size.

Tilt: Pick a degree of tilt for your image.

Move: Use the four arrow buttons to precisely move the text.

Curve: Curve the text inwards or outwards.

Finally, you can duplicate the text or delete it. Note: 3D and Erase are premium tools that require payment.

      8) With the text added to the photo, tap the share button and choose Save Image or Save Image as PNG. After that, open your iPhone or iPad’s Photos app, and you will find the final edited image there.

      Using other apps

In addition to the above two options, you can try several other apps and even online websites.

A quick search for “add text to photo” on App Store or Google Search should show multiple handy apps. But if you ask me, I would recommend Add Text, Canva, Snapseed, Studio, and Picsart.

And when it comes to online websites to add text to photos, I won’t recommend using them on an iPhone because of the small screen and difficulty of using the tools in the web browser. Not to forget, many of these websites are not optimized for mobile. But you can use them on your iPad (that’s hopefully connected to a keyboard and mouse) or your computer. We have talked about a few such websites under the Mac heading.

Add text to a photo on Mac

You can use the built-in options or third-party tools like Canva.

      Using Preview

Preview is a built-in app by Apple that is the default destination to open images and PDFs. You can use it to add text to your photo. But remember to duplicate an image (Command + D) before opening it in Preview, as all changes you make using this app are saved in real-time, and you can’t revert them once you exit the editing window. That said, here’s how to put text over a photo for free using the Preview app on Mac:

      3) Replace “Text” with what you want to say.

      4) Next, with the custom text selected, you can style it up by using these tools:

Text Style [Aa]: Use it to change the font, color, size, style (bold, italic, underline), and alignment.

Fill Color: Use it to add a solid background behind the text.

Border Color: Pick this to add a colored border around the text.

Shape Style: You can pick a style or thickness for the border using this option.

      5) Once you’re done, simply close the Preview app, as all your edits are saved to the image file in real-time. You can open the original image file in the Finder folder to see the text added over it.

      Using the Photos app

Just like the iOS Photos app, you can use the macOS Photos app to add text over an image:

      1) Launch the Apple Photos app on your Mac and open the image.

      3) Hit the More button and choose Markup.

      4) Select the Text tool [A] from the top.

      5) Replace “Text” with your custom text.

      6) Drag it to the desired spot and use the Text Style (Aa), Fill Color, Border Color, and the Shape Style button to customize your text. The process is similar to what we explained under the Preview app method above.

You can share this edited photo from inside the Photos app by hitting the Share button. Or, drag the image out from the Photos app and drop it over the Desktop or a Finder folder.

      Using Canva

Canva is one of the most popular photo editing tools out there. I have used it daily for the last few years to create the featured images of my iDB posts.

Projects you save in Canva can be accessed on a computer, iPad, and mobile apps. Every change you make is saved to the cloud, and you don’t have to worry about losing them. As a result, you can start working on a photo and finish it later. On top of that, the free version of Canva doesn’t add a watermark to your images!

Here’s how to use Canva in a web browser on a computer to add text to an image:

      1) Go to chúng tôi and sign up for a free account. If you already have an account, simply login to it. Tip: You can visit Canva in Safari and sign up for an account using your Apple ID by confirming your Mac’s password or Touch ID.

      5) Enter your custom text, and customize its font, size, color, and other things using the tools at the top.

      Experiment with other methods

I’ve tried several online websites to add text to a photo but faced one of these issues:

The free version would add a watermark.

The sites are super slow to load and take a considerable time to upload the photo.

Editing tools may not be responsive.

As a result, I recommend using Canva, which doesn’t have these drawbacks. However, if you’ve made up your mind not to use Canva, you can try these alternatives:

IMG2GO (the best option out of the bunch. It also doesn’t seem to have the above problems)

      Text2Photo

      Online Image Editor

      AddText

      Kapwing

Finally, if your Mac has an Apple silicon (M1, M2 chip), you can also use iOS apps like Add text 2 on it. It worked well on my Mac mini with an M2 chip.

How To Attach Files, Photos, And Videos To Notes On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

The Notes app is a terrific tool for keeping, syncing, and referencing your notes. And one thing that makes it even better is the ability to attach files or add images to your notes. When you’re taking notes for a lecture, jotting down instructions, or making a list, adding a PDF, photo, video, or other item that pertains to the note is super convenient.

We’ve shown you how to scan documents in Notes and insert links in your notes. So it seems fitting to walk you through adding other items like files and images to Notes on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Adding images and files to Notes

Attach items to Notes on iPhone and iPad

The process for adding an image to a note is different than attaching a file on iPhone and iPad. For the first, you can add a photo directly from the Notes app. But for the second, you must go to the file instead.

Add an image or video from Notes on iOS

Launch the Notes app and open the note where you want to add the image or video. Then use the toolbar above the keyboard to insert your photo.

      1) With your note open, put your cursor where you want to insert the item and tap the Camera icon in the toolbar.

      2) Select Choose Photo or Video. If you want to capture the picture or video on the spot, you can pick Take Photo or Video instead.

      3) Use the Photos or Albums tabs or the Search box at the top to locate the item.

      4) Tap the photo(s) or video(s) you want to insert (you can add more than one at a time) and tap Add.

You’ll then see your items pop right into your note.

Share an image or video from Photos to Notes

If you happen to be already using the Photos app, you can add an image or video from that app to Notes as well. You’ll open the item and use the Share menu.

1) With your photo or video open, tap the Share button at the bottom. You can also share albums or multiple photos at once using the Share button or three dots at the top to access the Sharing options.

      2) In the second row of the share sheet, select Notes. If you don’t see Notes, scroll to the right, tap More, and add Notes to the top section.

      3) Under Save To you can leave it set to New Note to create one or tap to choose a note to add your photo or video to.

      4) Optionally, add text to your note.

      5) Tap Save.

When you open the Notes app, you’ll see either your new or existing note containing the photo or video.

Add a file to Notes on iOS

Maybe you have a PDF file, Pages document, or other type of file that you want to include in a note. Unfortunately, you cannot currently add a file to a note from the Notes app. You’ll need to go to the file on your iPhone or iPad and share it to a note similarly to how you would share an item from Photos to Notes above.

1) Open the file you want to attach to a note and access the Sharing options. In some cases, you’ll see the Share button, like for an item in the Files app. In others, you’ll tap the three dots on the top right and select Share, like for a Pages document.

      2) In the second row of the share sheet, select Notes.

      3) Under Save To, leave it set to New Note to create one or tap to choose an existing note.

      4) Optionally, add text to your note.

      5) Tap Save.

Attach items to Notes on Mac

When you use Notes on Mac, you can add both images and files directly from the Notes app. While this makes it simple, we’ll also show you how to do the reverse for times when that’s more convenient.

Add an image, video, or file from Notes

Launch the Notes app and open the note where you want to attach an item. Then do one of the following.

Share an image, video, or file to Notes

If you have the Notes app open along with the Photos app or folder containing the file, you can simply drag the item over to your note. This is the quickest and easiest way to add an image or file to Notes on Mac. But of course, you have another option.

If you don’t have the Notes app open, you can insert an image or a file from its own location using the Share menu.

      1) In Photos or a folder in Finder, select the item.

      3) Next to Choose Note, leave it set to New Note to create one or use the drop-down list to pick an existing note.

      4) Optionally, add text to your note.

The next time you open Notes on your Mac, you’ll see your new or existing note with the item you attached to it.

      Wrapping it up

Being able to add an image or video or attach a PDF or other file in Notes is a real time-saver. You can have that item as a reference along with your text for your note all in one spot.

For more, take a look at how to search for items like images and scans in Notes on iOS, how to view just the Notes attachments, or how to collaborate with shared notes.

How To Sync Imessage Between Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

Apple has created an amazing eco-system that helps you stay connected to all your devices. All the devices are closely interconnected with each other; iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and others. If you save anything on any one device, you can easily access the same from another device.

Moreover, you can easily change the device in the middle of your work with the help of Handoff feature. But there is one problem in setting up Handoff on Mac and iPhone/iPad. It works with multiple apps; so even if you don’t want to work on apps like Calendar, Keynote, and Maps, the feature will sync them automatically. For your information, Handoff works with apps like Calendar, Contacts, Reminders, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Maps, Messages, Mail, and Safari.

Suppose you want to sync iMessages across the devices, and don’t want to use Handoff, what is the solution? Well, you can follow this information and find the answer.

How to Sync iMessages to Your iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Step #1. Launch Settings app on your iPhone → Tap on Messages.

Step #2. Look for Send & Receive option from the list and tap on it.

Your iPhone will show you all the phone numbers and email ids you have registered with Apple ID.

Step #3. Tap on each ID to check or uncheck.

During this process, please ensure that your email address is shown next to your Apple ID. You should sign in with Apple ID if the email id is not shown. Another important matter to look for is that your primary phone number should be selected under the section: Start New Conversations From.

Repeat above steps on other iOS devices; this will enable you to send and receive iMessages on iPhone, iPad, and Mac as well.

Now, let’s check how you can sync iMessages from your Mac.

How to Sync iMessages on Mac

Step #1. Open Messages app from Launchpad or Spotlight Search or Dock.

Once your Apple ID is added, you can see similar options as you saw on your iPhone/iPad. Right below your Apple ID is a checkbox: Enable this account. Make sure that this checkbox is checked.

At the bottom of this dialog box, check that your phone number is selected in the drop-down menu. The menu is given under “Start new conversations from“.

This entire procedure will enable you to receive iMessages on iOS devices and your Mac. If this doesn’t yield any result, there is a solution to this problem.

Turn Off iMessage on iPhone and iPad

Step #1. Launch Settings app on iOS device → Tap on Messages.

Step #2. Toggle iMessage OFF on all devices.

      Turn Off iMessage On Mac

How To Share Icloud Drive Folders On Iphone, Ipad, Mac, And Web

Many popular cloud-storage services like OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox support folder sharing. If you use Apple devices, you can share iCloud folders with others. Here’s how you can use your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and a web browser to share iCloud folders with others, manage shared folder permissions, and stop sharing when done.

      About sharing iCloud folders

With iCloud Drive, you can securely store your files in iCloud and access them from an iPhone or iPad using the Files app, your Mac through Finder, or a web browser on a PC.

Sharing iCloud folders with other people help collaborate on complex projects, share assets with clients, gather vacations photos from family, and more. Anyone with access to a shared folder will see it in iCloud Drive and will always have the ability to access the latest version of its contents.

      Supported operating systems

To share iCloud folders, you need an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 13 or later, an iPad with iPadOS 13 or later, or a Mac with the macOS Catalina 10.15 or later. You can also log in to chúng tôi on the web and share iCloud Drive folders.

Share iCloud folders on iPhone or iPad

Here are the steps to share an iCloud folder with others using the iOS or iPadOS Files app and manage it.

      Start sharing a folder

      1) Open the Files app on your iPhone or iPad.

      2) Tap Browse and choose iCloud Drive from the list of locations.

      3) Press a folder and choose Share from the list of options.

      4) Tap Share Folder in iCloud.

      5) Tap Share Options to customize the permissions.

      Who Can Access:

Only people you invite: People who have received your share invite can access this folder. Folks who have the link but aren’t invited cannot access this folder.

Anyone with the link: Anyone with the link can access this iCloud Drive folder, whether they were originally invited or not. Use this option with caution, especially if you’re sharing a folder with co-workers to collaborate on a sensitive project.

      Permission:

Can make changes: People you’re sharing the folder with are permitted to upload new items to the shared folder, delete individual files, update existing files, and more.

View only: The read-only permission limits others to viewing files. They can’t edit, upload, or do anything else.

      Adding People:

Anyone can add people: When this toggle is enabled, the recipient can also add people to this shared iCloud folder.

Only you can add people: When this toggle is off, it keeps the privilege of adding people only to you.

      6) Select how you’d like to send the share link (Messages, Mail, or anything else), then pick a contact with whom you’ll be sharing this folder, and tap the Send button.

      View the shared folder

When the recipient receives the iCloud Drive link, ask them to tap it and choose Open. The shared iCloud Drive folder will open inside of their Files app. The shared folder will have all the files in it.

If you add new files to this shared folder, they will appear in this shared folder on the recipient’s device and vice versa. Below the file, it’ll display the name of the person who added it to the shared folder.

Any changes made inside the shared folder like renaming, editing, moving it, creating sub-folders, or deleting will reflect on the devices of everyone who is a member of the shared folder. If it doesn’t, force quit the Files app or upload some random small file to refresh the system, which will force sync all the changes.

      Manage your shared folder

      1) Inside the Files app, tap iCloud Drive.

      2) Find the shared folder, press it and tap Share.

      3) Tap Manage Shared Folder.

To share the folder with more members, tap Add People.

To change sharing permissions, tap Share Options and use the desired options.

To remove a person or edit their permission, tap their name and choose Remove Access. You can also tweak other settings related to this user.

To no longer share an iCloud folder with all members, tap Stop Sharing.

A word about normal folder sharing

When you press a folder in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone section of the Files app and tap Share, you see the iOS Share Sheet with various app icons.

To share the folder as a one-time ZIP file, tap Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, or one of the options you see here. The Files app will compress the chosen folder into a ZIP file and send it.

This is normal, one-time sharing, and any new files you add to this folder won’t be shared with the other person.
