Merely a day after Realme unveiled India’s first 5G smartphone, Vivo’s gaming sub-brand iQOO has launched the second 5G phone in the country today. It was supposed to be the first but Realme stole its thunder. However, the iQOO 3 is now official and it brings in tow the Snapdragon 865 chipset, 5G connectivity, 48MP quad-camera, fast-charging, and more.

iQOO 3: Specs and Features

Starting off with the design, iQOO 3 boasts a premium glass build on the Tornado Black variant whereas you get a rubber matte finish on the Orange variant. The company has used Gorilla Glass 6 protection and I quite like the design and color choices here. You’re getting a rectangular camera module and the iQOO branding on the rear, which is quite clean.

As you just read above, Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 865 powers the iQOO 3 gaming smartphone. It’s coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The one thing that differentiates this device from the Realme X50 Pro will have to be the fact it comes both in 4G and 5G variants. Both of the variants will come with the Snapdragon X55 modem but only one of them (12GB + 256GB) has been certified with 5G connectivity support.

Yes, this means you can get a Snapdragon 865-powered phone only with 4G connectivity support. 5G connectivity is only a gimmick, a marketing fad in India at the moment. The company made the right choice by offering 4G-only variants to keep the price low, but it appears like Realme’s 5G offering has been able to match and possibly take it down.

In the camera department, iQOO 3 includes a rectangular quad-camera setup on the rear. You get a 48MP (f/1.8) primary camera, coupled with a 13MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degrees FOV, 13MP (f/2.4) telephoto camera with 20x zoom capability, and a 2MP depth sensor. iQOO 3 comes equipped with a 4,440mAh battery pack, along with Vivo’s 55W Super FlashCharge technology support. You get the 55W adapter in the box and it will enable you to juice up your device from 0% to 50% in around 15 minutes, which is amazing. It matches the likes of Realme’s 65W SuperDART fast-charging technology. You do get this pill-shaped charger that will make it easier for you to fill up the battery and game at the same time.

You also have a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and a high-quality audio DAC, among a ton of other things. There’s no wireless charging or IP rating assigned here but that would have been amazing to have on a premium flagship phone like this one.

iQOO 3 will be available in 3 color variants, namely Tornado Black, Volcano Orange, and Quantum Silver. The device will go on sale from March 4, exclusively via Flipkart and iQOO’s official website.

Black Shark 4 / 4 Pro With Snapdragon 888 Soc Launched

In the camera department, the Black Shark 4 Pro comes with a 48MP main camera. The two other lenses are an 8MP wide-angle and 5MP macro lenses.

From the launch information, the Black Shark 4 comes with a 4,500 mAh high-capacity battery. This smartphone supports 120W high-power charging. This smartphone takes only 5 minutes to charge the battery to 50%, and it can get a full charge within 15 minutes. With 100% power, the charging speed is second to none in the industry.

Of course, in addition to high-power fast charging, this time the Black Shark 4 will also use NFC as standard. Not only that, the Black Shark 4 is not only a gaming phone but also a “music phone”. According to DxOMark rating, Black Shar 4 tops its audio rating with a total score of 81. This report has not been officially released by DxOMark. This device relies on the industry’s top large-amplitude linear dual speakers and fully symmetrical super-large sound cavity.

Black Shark 4 Pro

The Black Shark 4 Pro has more colour options than the regular version. It is available in Black, Gray, Ink Sea Black, and Pink. This smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 888 flagship processor. It also uses the UFS 3.1 storage as well as LPDDR5 RAM.

The Black Shark 4 Pro uses a Samsung E4 material AMOLED gaming screen. This display supports a 144Hz screen refresh rate, and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. Its touch response delay is as low as 8.3ms.

The Black Shark 4 Pro further uses a new “sandwich” liquid cooling system. It has a built-in double-layer three-dimensional heat dissipation system. This system increases the heat dissipation efficiency by 30%. It also reduces the CPU core temperature by 18 degrees.

The disk array system is composed of an enhanced version of UFS3.1+ customized SSD. This increases the storage read performance by up to 55%. The storage write performance also increases by up to 69%. This greatly increases the speed of game installation and file processing.

The Black Shark 4 Pro uses a full-scene X antenna intelligent switching system and a built-in network acceleration system.

Just like the Black Shark 4, the Pro model also uses a 4500 mAh capacity battery. This battery also supports 120W ultra-fast flash charging. According to Black Shark, this device can get a full charge in 15 minutes. It can get up to 50% charge in 5 minutes. The Black Shark 4 Pro also uses a cooling rear clip with a built-in temperature display. Thus, users can see the temperature of the device in real-time.

The Black Shark 4 Pro also uses a 15V ultra-high power smart power amplifier. This increases the drive power by 50%. This smartphone also comes with an ultra-large amplitude dual 1216 linear speakers and a 1.5CC full symmetrical ultra-large sound cavity design.

Qualcomm Partners With Asus On “Smartphone For Snapdragon Insiders”; Priced At $1,499

If you keep a close watch on the smartphone segment, you would have seen leaks for a Snapdragon-branded smartphone last month. Well, putting an end to the anticipation, American chipmaker Qualcomm has launched its first-ever smartphone today. Called the “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders,” this device is designed to enable users to experience the latest Qualcomm technologies.

Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders Launched Why Is Qualcomm Launching a Smartphone?

Now, the first question that many of you may have is – why is Qualcomm launching a smartphone? Well, in a closed-door briefing, the company executives revealed that a whopping 1.6 million users have joined the Snapdragon Insider program since its inception back in March this year. Like Windows Insiders, these individuals give feedback on the company’s products to help better the experience for consumers. To reward its loyal fanbase, Qualcomm has unveiled the “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders” today.

This smartphone, which has been designed and manufactured by Asus, will offer the Snapdragon Insiders a more curated experience. It will focus on the key strengths of Qualcomm’s chipset, including Elite Gaming, Snapdragon Sound, AI cameras, 5G, and more. Also, Asus will handle the distribution and sale of this smartphone using its own channels.

Key Features and Specs

Manufactured by Asus, the first Snapdragon-branded smartphone includes a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ Samsung AMOLED display with a Delta E <1, up to 1200 nits of peak brightness, and HDR10/ HDR10+ certification. It also boasts 111.23% DCI-P3 color gamut support and Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top. There’s also a 24MP selfie camera housed in the minimal top bezel.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset and not the recently unveiled Snapdragon 888 Plus variant. This may seem like a confusing move to many, but the answer to why Asus didn’t use the Plus variant chip is simple. The device development started before the Snapdragon 888+ was launched, so enthusiasts have to settle with the less-powerful flagship chipset. The chipset is coupled with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Turning our attention to the rear, there’s a lot to take in here. First, there’s a light-up Snapdragon fireball logo that’s illuminated in white (no it’s not RGB). Then, you can notice the physical fingerprint scanner, which is the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2. Finally, there’s a triple camera system with a 64MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom on the rear.

Alongside the smartphone, Qualcomm has also bundled a pair of premium Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) supported TWS earbuds from Master & Dynamic. They are powered by the Qualcomm QCC5141 Bluetooth audio chipset, supports up to 24-bit 96kHz audio quality, ultra-low latency, echo and noise cancellation, and more. These earbuds will enable you to experience Snapdragon Sound for the first time on a smartphone.

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders is priced at $1,499 in the US and will go on sale in August 2023. Apart from the US, it will be commercially available in Canada, UK, Japan, Korea, and Germany. The device will make its way to India at a later date and be priced at Rs. 1,11,990 (could differ at the time of launch).

Many of us prefer to keep our iPhones close to our person whenever possible, and that includes when we’re riding around outside on our favorite toys – bikes, motorcycles, scooters – whatever it is, you name it.

After getting involved in the world of electric scooters, it quickly became my personal mission to find the best and most secure mounting solution for my iPhone. A few gasp-worthy mistakes later, and my perilous search led me to Quad Lock, a versatile mounting solution that works with almost anything.

In my particular instance, I needed something that wasn’t bulky, yet would be tough enough to endure the bumpy ride of a suspension-less electric scooter on rough rural asphalt riddled with potholes that would sometimes devolve into dirt or gravel. Many of the so-called “tough” mounts on Amazon didn’t make the cut, but Quad Lock didn’t quit no matter what type of terrain I threw at it.

A smartphone mount that just won’t quit

For my Ninebot MAX electric scooter, I opted for the Quad Lock Out Front Mount Pro, which is milled out of aluminum (not plastic) for guaranteed durability in even the most demanding situations. One thing I really like about this mount is that it holds my large iPhone 12 Pro Max far out in front of the handlebar, which means I can still view the display on my electric scooter without any interference from my handset.

Sturdy and ergonomic design

You may notice the lever tab on the side. It’s part of the locking system and is spring-loaded. When in its highest position, the lever locks the iPhone into place. You must push this down when rotating your iPhone 45º to free it from the Quad Lock mounting system. The action is smooth and easy to use, and I have nothing bad to say about it. You can even select a different colored lever tab if you want.

Cases and accessories

The Quad Lock case for my iPhone 12 Pro Max is constructed from sturdy TPU material and wraps tightly around the device with a satisfying ‘snap’ when inserting the phone. The ports are all accompanied by large cut-outs, ensuring compatibility with a wide variety of cables and accessories. Unfortunately, because of nature of the Quad Lock system, this case isn’t compatible with MagSafe chargers.

Quad Lock offers a bevy of different mounts for various use cases, such as car windshields, motorcycle handlebars, bicycle handlebars, belt clips, and so much more with vibration dampeners and wireless chargers also available. When not occupied by a mounting system, the cavity on the back of the Quad Lock case can be filled with accessories such as a phone ring/stand all-in-one accessory that doubles as extra grip in your hand or as a kickstand on your desk.

The price of the Quad Lock mounting system very much depends on the type of mount you plan to buy. The Quad Lock Out Front Pro mount is $60 on Amazon, with the motorcycle mount being priced at $50 and the bicycle mount being priced at $40. Any of these will be good choices, depending on the vehicle you’re mounting to, and the company includes spacers to ensure fitment with your vehicle’s handlebar diameter. Most Quad Lock cases are about $30 – including the one I have for my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Play around in the dirt or rain a lot? You may want to consider adding the Quad Lock Poncho to your cart too. This translucent sleeve covers the screen, your camera lenses, and all the ports and speakers on your device to prevent dust, water, and other debris from damaging your handset during your travels. I’ve found myself in the rain more than once, and it has certainly come in handy, but it adds another $25-30 to your total cost.


If you’re looking for a solid mounting solution for your bicycle, motorcycle, scooter, or something else, then I would strongly suggest checking out Quad Lock before learning the hard way that some of those cheaper mounts equipped with clamps and rubber straps won’t hold up (ask me how I know). At least with the Quad Lock mounting solution, your iPhone is mechanically locked to your vehicle, which virtually eliminates the risk of a damaged phone resulting from bump-related drops.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy Book 3 Series With 13Th

Alongside the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung has also unveiled a myriad of new laptops under its Galaxy Book 3 lineup. The new Galaxy Book 3 series comprises three variants, including the highest-end Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro, and the 2-in-1 Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360. Focusing on productivity and creativity, these Samsung laptops come with the newest 13th-Gen Intel processors, Nvidia graphics, an AMOLED panel, and more. So let’s look at the key specifications of the latest Samsung Galaxy Books:

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Series Launched Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

Starting with the top-of-the-line Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, this is Samsung’s new premium laptop series that comes with high-end specs. You’re getting a full aluminum frame for a premium look and feel. There’s also a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 3K resolution (2880 x 1800). The panel features a 16:10 aspect ratio, adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of max brightness (500 nits in HDR). There are minimal bezels all-around, with the top one housing a Full-HD webcam and a dual-mic array.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is powered by up to 13th-Gen Intel Core i9 H-series processors and Nvidia graphics cards. You will have the option to choose between the GeForce RTX 4070 or RTX 4050 laptop GPU. This is paired with up to 32GB DDR5 RAM and up to 1TB PCIe SSD storage. Samsung has also included an expansion slot to easily upgrade the storage on the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. There’s also a 76Wh battery onboard, along with a 100W Type-C charger.

The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will just be available in a Graphite color variant, so you don’t have as many choices as Apple MacBooks. The laptop also has a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, a backlit keyboard, and an AKG-powered Quad Speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. As for connectivity, you will also find 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1 USB Type-A port, an HDMI 1.4, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Pro 360

Much like the Ultra, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Pro 360 models boast an all-aluminum build on the outside. While the Pro and Pro 360 also come in 16-inch models, the Pro can be bought in a smaller 14-inch model as well, much like the latest MacBooks. Samsung is using the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a 3K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate on all Pro variants. However, being a versatile 2-in-1 notebook, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is packing a touchscreen and supports S Pen input (provided in the box).

There’s a major difference under the hood, though. While Samsung is still offering the latest 13th-Gen Intel Core processor on the Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Pro 360, they are using low-powered P-series chips as opposed to the H-series on the Ultra. This is paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics instead of a dedicated Nvidia GPU, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD.

The rest of the specifications remain pretty much the same, except that you get a 65W adapter with these models. Also, you can choose between two color variants – Graphite and Beige.

Price and Availability

Samsung has priced the Galaxy Book 3 Pro starting at $1,249, whereas the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 and Galaxy Book 3 Ultra with RTX graphics start at $1,399 and a whopping $2,399, respectively. As for availability, the Galaxy Book 3 Pro and Pro 360 will go on sale alongside the new S23 models on February 17 (in select markets) and the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will be on sale from February 22.

Currently, there is no information on when the Galaxy Book 3 series will arrive in the Indian market. But, like the Galaxy Book 2 lineup from last year, we expect these laptops to make their way to the country soon. Stay tuned for more updates.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 Main Frequency Revealed

According to rumours, the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 would use a “1+5+2” three-cluster architecture. The chip also has a new Cortex-X4 super big core from ARM and increases the primary frequency from 3.5GHz to a maximum of 3.72GHz. It reduces the small core and adds a large core. The Cortex-X3 based on 8 Gen 2 provides a performance gain of 15%  –20%. The GPU is Adreno 750 with 1.0GHz, and the 5 large cores are based on Cortex-A71. However, the two small cores are based on Cortex-A515.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 GeekBench scores

The Snapdragon 8 Gen3’s single-core running score is 1930 and its multi-core score is 6236. It has vastly improved over the single-core 1524 and multi-core 4597 of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.  By the looks of this score, this chip will be the new king of the hill when it shows up. On GeekBench, the new Apple A16 Bionic SoC has single-core scores of 1877 and multi-core scores of 5447. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 performs well on GeekBench, scoring 1524 for single-core and 4597 for multi-core. In other words, the Apple A16 is ultimately defeated by the Snapdragon 8 Gen3.

But, there is no need for the Android camp to jump for joy too soon for a few reasons. Since this is simply a model for engineering purposes, the chip’s performance could change in either direction—up or down. However, it will still be a while before this chip is officially released. As a result, its rivals have time to improve their chips.

Snapdragon is a series of mobile processors developed by Qualcomm, which powers many high-end smartphones and tablets. Here’s a brief history of the Snapdragon flagship processors:

Snapdragon S1: Snapdragon S2:

Released in 2010, the Snapdragon S2 was the first dual-core processor from Qualcomm. It also introduced the Adreno 205 GPU and support for 1080p video recording.

Snapdragon S3:
