Together modeTogether mode is a new experience for meetings that make use of AI segmentation technology to digitally place participants in a shared background. The idea is to make it feel like you’re sitting in the same room with everyone else in the meeting or class.
The feature with auditorium view is rolling out now and will be generally available in August, and more views are planned for future releases.
Dynamic viewDynamic view is another video experience with a set of enhancements that gives you more control over how you see shared content and other participants in a meeting.
Video filteringVideo filtering is a feature that allow you to use filters to subtly adjust lighting levels and soften the focus of the camera to customize your appearance before a Teams meeting.
Reflect messaging extensionThe new Reflect messaging extension gives managers, leaders and teachers an uncomplicated way to check in with how their team or students are feeling. The extension offers suggested check-in questions and the ability to add custom questions that members can respond to in a poll-like experience, and results can be set as anonymous. The company says that the extension will be available in the coming weeks.
Live reactionsStarting with this wave of updates on Microsoft Teams, you’ll able to react during a meeting using emojis. The live reactions feature is a shared feature with PowerPoint Live Presentations, which is also coming to Microsoft Teams.
Chat bubblesCurrently, Microsoft Teams users need to manually open a chat window to view the chat screen. With this new update, chats sent during a meeting will surface on the screens of all meeting participants, making the chat more central to the conversation.

Google Ads App Gets New Features After 3 Months Of No Updates
New features include:
Custom notifications about performance and status changes.
More data about fluctuations in campaign performance.
Here’s an overview of each of these updates.
Custom NotificationsAdvertisers can now use the Google Ads mobile app to set custom notifications about things that are important to them.
In this example provided by Google you can see how the app has been set to send a notification when conversion volume goes up by more than 10%.
To set a custom notification, first go to the Settings page and opt in to notifications if you haven’t already.
Then tap on custom notifications to set up your own alerts. These can be adjusted at any time.
Performance InsightsIn addition, the app will send real-time notifications when significant changes are detected in any of these newly added performance insights.
The notification will explain why the change occurred, and Google Ads may offer a recommendation to help resolve the issues.
These updates are now available in the latest version of the Google Ads mobile app on Android and iOS.
Long Time, No UpdatesThis update follows a three month gap of no updates to the Google Ads app. Google rarely lets any of its apps go longer than a month without at least a minor update, but that has not been the case lately.
Google’s suite of apps have gone so long without updates that iOS is warning users they’re using an out of date app.

Apple now requires app developers to self-report on the data it collects from users and how the data is being used.
The information provided by developers is used to create a privacy “nutrition label” that users can review before downloading an app.

Given that Google stopped updating its apps for several months after Apple introduced these mandatory labels, some think the company is trying to skirt Apple’s rules. Again, that’s purely speculation.
Google has recently gone on record saying it has no plans to develop alternative methods of tracking users.
If Google’s recent activity is anything to go by, more of its outdated apps may receive updates in the coming days or weeks.

How To Use Live Emoji On Microsoft Teams
Over the last year, we have learned two great things about meetings and productivity. First, video calling or conferencing apps can be a lifesaver. And two, humans miss and require the physical presence of their colleagues to be at their best. Collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Teams, have done exceptionally well to give us a rewarding virtual work environment. And now, they are trying their best to make virtual life feel as close to the real thing as possible.
Teams has been releasing personal features over the course of its lifecycle, but it hadn’t paid much attention to the emojis — aka the reaction mechanism. Today, we’ll be taking a look at their most recent effort at changing the system — tell you all about Live Emojis on Microsoft Teams.

What does Live Emoji mean?
Similar to any other video calling application, Microsoft Teams always granted the option of reacting to emojis, albeit not during live video conferences. Now, with the latest update, Microsoft is making the art of reactions feel as natural as possible. You will not need to do anything to get the update, by the way. It will be an OTA update as usual and is available for free and paid users alike.

How many Live Emojis are there?
When a colleague of yours is delivering a presentation or sharing an insightful thought, it’s important to be as receptive as possible. And there’s hardly a better way of showing that you care than using an animated, live emoji. At launch, Microsoft Teams is offering four live emojis. First and foremost, there is the ‘Like’ emoji, which is the most sincere form of encouragement.
Next, you have the ‘Heart’ emoji, which is better suited for occasions when the presenter is sharing something personal or profound.
Then, you get the ‘Applause’ emoji that is perfect for presentations.
And finally, you get the ‘Laugh’ emoji, which is suitable for pretty much any lighthearted conversation.

How to use Live Emojis
Now that we’ve discussed all the different types of Live Emojis available on Microsoft Teams, let’s check out how you could use them during meetings.
On computer
Launch the Microsoft Teams desktop client on your Windows or Mac computer. Now, either join or host a meeting. At the top of the meeting window, you’ll see the Live Emoji button.
That’s all! The recipient will get to see the admiration oozing right off of you.
On mobile app
The mobile app of Microsoft Teams has also received the ability to send out Live Emojis. First, launch the Microsoft Teams mobile app on your smartphone. Now, go to the channel that’s hosting a meeting and join it. Alternatively, you could be the one to start a meeting and the live reaction system would be available to you just the same. Then, hit the ellipsis button at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
The person on the other end will see it instantaneously.
What does the ‘Hand raise’ emoji mean?
Are Live Emojis available in personal or group chat?
When you connect with a Microsoft Teams user, one-on-one, you do not get the option to send Live Emojis. We believe Microsoft understands that Live Emojis are more productive when multiple people are involved, not a single user where we have the privilege of getting our points across in real-time.
Group chats, on the other hand, are fair game. Live Emojis have been cooked into the system and fit the purpose.
On computer
On mobile app
On mobile, too, you get the same Live Emoji treatment. After you join or host a meeting, tap on the ellipsis button at the bottom right corner of your screen. Now, tap on one of the four emojis at the top of the pop-up. Your Live Emoji would be deployed.
Why can’t you access Live Emojis?
Live Emojis were very recently introduced by Microsoft Teams, which means that it could take a while for all users to get access to the feature. So, if you don’t see the Live Emoji button at the top of your screen, you’ll have to wait a little longer to get it. Also, keep in mind that Live Emojis will not be available in personal one-on-one video calls.

Dinosaurs Who Stuck Together, Survived Together
During the early Jurassic Period, some 200 million years ago, the only large herbivores in many ecosystems were long-necked dinosaurs called sauropodomorphs. These reptiles were the forerunners of the gargantuan sauropods, the group that included Brachiosaurus and Brontosaurus.
A well-populated breeding ground in southern Patagonia hints at one reason early sauropodomorphs were so successful: They knew how to stick together. When scientists analyzed the eggs and skeletal remains of juveniles and adults of a species known as Mussaurus patagonicus, they found that the fossils were segregated by age, suggesting that the dinosaurs raised their young as a community.
The 193-million-year-old site represents the earliest evidence of herd-living in dinosaurs, the team reported on October 21 in Scientific Reports.
The species that he and his colleagues investigated was originally discovered in Argentina’s Laguna Colorada Formation in the 1970’s. In recent years, the team has excavated dozens more Mussaurus specimens of all ages from the site. The youngsters appear to have walked on four legs before becoming bipedal as they matured. The largest adult specimen would have reached an estimated 1504.8 kilograms (about 1.7 tons) in size.
In total, the researchers examined more than 100 eggs and 80 Mussaurus skeletons from an area of about 1 square kilometer (about 0.39 square miles). The team used x-ray imaging to peer inside the eggs and confirm the embryos’ identities. To determine the juvenile dinosaurs’ ages, the researchers counted the annual growth rings visible in fine slices of leg bone under the microscope.
The fossils were found close together, in three levels within an area of reddish-brown siltstone that appears to have been a shared breeding ground, Ramezani says. He and his colleagues observed that many of the fossils were grouped by age, including several nests with clusters of eight to 30 eggs, a collection of 11 juveniles that were the same size and appeared to have died and been buried together, and adults alone or in pairs.

“This age segregation is basically key; it tells us that this is not something like a simple family structure, being parents and juveniles together,” Ramezani says. “These are colonies of a lot of dinosaurs that are basically taking care of the young [and] the eggs together.”
The sediments found amongst the fossils indicate that the site was located near a short-lived lake, he says. The researchers speculate that the dinosaurs might have died after a long drought, then been rapidly buried in windblown dust.
Mixed in with this dust there was also some volcanic ash, which contains minute zircon crystals. These crystals have high levels of uranium that over time decays into lead. By analyzing the amounts of both elements in the crystals, Ramezani and his team were able to calculate the age of the sediments the dinosaurs were buried in. They found that the site was 193 million years old, pushing back the earliest recorded herding behavior in dinosaurs by at least 40 million years.
However, it’s likely that dinosaurs began gathering in herds to forage and care for young together even before Mussaurus appeared on the scene. This strategy may have enabled sauropodomorphs and possibly other early dinosaurs to thrive and eventually dominate ancient ecosystems, Ramezani says.
In fact, paleontologists have reported nesting colonies of other early sauropodomorphs from China and South Africa that appear to have lived around the same time.
“They have some ideas based on the rocks what the approximate ages would be, but they don’t have the exact ages,” Ramezani says. “We definitely need more information, better [estimates of] ages, to be able to put these pieces of the puzzle together and complete the picture of this social behavior.”
