Keeping track of multiple passwords is not at all easy. Yes, you can use password management apps to store your important passwords, but sometimes, you just end up forgetting them. In the case of streaming services, passwords take a whole new meaning.

Because platforms like Netflix and Disney Plus allow multiple profiles, you inevitably end up sharing your password with your family members or friends. If too many people end up with your password, it becomes a hassle keeping track of who’s sharing your account.

While the adage goes do not judge a book by its cover, we still involuntarily pick up books with eye-catching front covers. Ever wondered why?

Research shows that this is the way our minds are wired. A good display picture has a similar effect. Humans make innate assumptions based on images and general appearance. A photo on LinkedIn is the first step to making a strong visual first impression.

LinkedIn profile pictures need not be entirely professional. Depending on the kind of industry you are in and the job roles you are looking for, you can choose to upload an image that is semi-professional.

According to LinkedIn, profiles with good photos get 21x more profile views and 9x more connection requests. So, do not skip this step!

Here are the Best Practices to Follow:

Dress appropriately. Avoid loud colors or patterns that might distract the viewer.

                                                      Use simple backgrounds

                                                      Avoid blurry images

Do not put up stock images or group photos

Capture waist-up images with your face as the main focus

The display image should ideally be 400px x 400px and 8MB and the cover photo should be 1584 x 396 px

Keep cover images simple with a quote or written element that defines you professionally

                                                      2. Add a Crisp Headline

If you had to describe your professional persona in just 220 characters, what would it be? The answer to this question would be the ideal LinkedIn headline.

It is a vital part of the LinkedIn algorithm as the headline appears in all search results – both within the channel and on Google. Also, it is visible to your profile visitors including first and second-degree networks, recruiters, hiring managers, and companies.

A Simple Formula You Can Use to Write the Best LinkedIn Headline:

                                                      3. Write an Eloquent Summary (Also Called ‘About’)

Most LinkedIn users use the summary or about section to share career highlights. In order to stand out, you could also include your career vision, objective, ideology, and biggest learnings. You get 2,600 words to highlight your entire professional journey.

Top Six Things to Include in Your LinkedIn About Section:

                                                      What is your niche?

Where have you studied and worked previously?

How is your career trajectory unique?

Did you have a good learning curve?

When did you make career switches (and why)?

Areas of interest (can include personal or vocational too)?

                                                      4. Highlight Skills, Educational and Work Experience Work Experience

Unlike a resume, this section has a character limit. Profile visitors have a very limited attention span. Though this section has a 2000-word limit per experience, long, chunky paragraphs are frowned upon.

It is highly recommended to include a 3-4 line description of the role. Apart from this, 8-10 bullet points can be included to highlight achievements. Remember to add the right metrics and outcomes. Here is a simple formula to follow:

Action Verb + Core Task + Quantifiable Outcome + When

Example: I founded (action verb) a Grassroot Teaching Program (core task) that boosted employee CSR engagement by 25% (quantifiable outcome) in April 2023 (when)

                                                      Education Section

Under the education section, include all major colleges and universities attended. It is not mandatory to include high school-related information. However, if you have a special achievement during that phase, do include and highlight it.

Including the kind of degree or certificate you earned along with the GPA, certificate copy, and link is necessary. Highlight special achievements, learning experiences, and years.

                                                      Skills Section

LinkedIn allows you to include 50 skills on your profile. A good mix of hard and soft skills is highly recommended here. Before adding the skills, find out the trending hashtags and keywords relevant to your domain. Don’t forget to pin your top three skills and encourage your network to endorse them.

Wondering how to demonstrate the skills you have added to your profile? Explore the LinkedIn Skill Assessments feature. Complete short quizzes and assessments to earn a badge that can be added to your profile. This helps recruiters validate your claims and it increases your chances of getting hired!

                                                      5. Use Visual Elements

A LinkedIn profile is both dynamic and interactive. This sets it apart from a regular resume. Recruiters now have an opportunity to read articles and whitepapers you have written and watch videos that feature you.

Showcase your best work in this section and retain a visitor’s attention. You can include: images, videos, PDFs, external links, and blog articles.

                                                      6. Customize the URL

It comes as no surprise that we would all go for the first link. It is crisp and clean, and we know whose profile we would view first.

LinkedIn provides its users an opportunity to customize their profile URL links. Find this feature in your profile section. Customizing your URL by including your full name and job-related keyword will enhance your SEO value instantly. Your profile will appear better and faster in search results and increase profile visits too.

                                                      7. Keep the Account Active

Signing up to LinkedIn and having an active profile are two distinct things. Anybody can have a LinkedIn profile. However, setting up the profile completely, continuously engaging with your network, actively posting high-quality content, and updating your skills, is an art. Users who actively engage have better luck with LinkedIn’s continuously changing algorithm. Their profiles get higher preference when recruiters or companies are searching for candidates.

Most importantly, LinkedIn is a professional space and a one-off opportunity for job seekers to build a good, personal brand.

If you are actively looking for a job you could also enable to ‘Open to Work’ feature. It will make your profile more discoverable to potential employers and hiring managers.

LinkedIn’s algorithm works so that your profile is shown to people in your second and third-degree network, encouraging them to interact with you. By adding the right people, you will be able to enhance this more extensive network and build better engagement opportunities.

Adding people to your network and never corresponding with them also negatively impacts the LinkedIn algorithm, as well as your reach.

A strong profile with all elements completed and recently updated gets pushed to the All-star Level. Are you part of that 50%?

LinkedIn’s algorithm automatically pushes such high-ranking profiles, resulting in 14x profile visits and 40x more job opportunities. LinkedIn profiles have 5 stages of strength: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, and All Star.

                                                      10. Leverage the Recommendations Section

A segment that can positively influence your profile and add credibility to all your claims is the recommendation section. Getting the right recommendations from former colleagues and managers or professors will help recruiters understand you better.

Who are you as a professional?

Are the skills you claim to possess true?

Do you have a good relationship with your team?

How many people are ready to vouch for you professionally?

What are your leadership qualities and professional soft skills?

It is highly recommended to get recommendations from managers who have directly supervised you, colleagues, who are your counterparts, and team members who reported to you. A good mix of recommendations will help recruiters understand your professional persona much better.

How To Copy Your Twitter Profile Link

To copy your Twitter profile link, you need to open Twitter on Safari or Chrome and log in to your account.

After you’ve logged in to your Twitter account, navigate to your profile and copy the URL field.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to copy your Twitter profile link on the Twitter mobile app.

However, you can copy the link to one of your tweets.

To do so, navigate to the tweet that you want to copy and tap on the share icon.

After you’ve tapped on the share icon, tap on “Copy Link” to copy the link to the tweet.

Here’s how to copy your Twitter profile link:

                                                      1. Open Twitter on Safari or Chrome

The first step is to open Twitter on a browser.

You cannot use the Twitter mobile app for this.

This is because the Twitter mobile app does not have a feature that allows you to copy your profile link.

Firstly, open a browser like Safari or Chrome.

Once you’re on Safari or Chrome, go to Google and search for “Twitter”.

Next, tap on the “Twitter. It’s what’s happening / Twitter” search result.

                                                      2. Tap on “Cancel”

After you’ve tapped on Twitter, a pop-up message will appear.

Here’s what it says, “Open in “Twitter”?”.

The pop-up message prompts you to open the Twitter mobile app.

However, you need to visit the desktop version of Twitter.

This is because there isn’t a feature that allows you to copy your Twitter profile link on the Twitter mobile app.

Hence, you need to tap on “Cancel” to open the desktop version of Twitter instead.

                                                      3. Tap on “Sign in”

After you’ve tapped on “Cancel”, you’ll land on the sign-up page of Twitter.

You’ll see multiple sign-up options including Google, Apple, phone, and email.

Now, you need to sign in to your Twitter account.

To do so, scroll down the page and tap on “Sign in”.

                                                      4. Log in to your Twitter account

After you’ve tapped on “Sign in”, you’ll land on the login page of Twitter.

Now, you need to log in to your Twitter account.

On the login page, you need to enter your login details.

This includes your Twitter username and password.

After you’ve entered your login details, tap on “Log in” to log in to your Twitter account.

                                                      5. Tap on your profile picture

After you’ve tapped on “Log in”, you’ll be logged in to your Twitter.

Now, you’ll land on your Twitter feed.

On the top navigation bar, you’ll see your profile picture.

Tap on your profile picture to open the menu.

                                                      6. Go to your Twitter profile

After you’ve tapped on your profile picture, the “Account info” menu will open.

                                                      The menu contains multiple options.

This includes “Profile”, “Lists”, “Topics”, and more.

To copy your Twitter profile link, you must first go to your Twitter profile.

To do so, tap on “Profile” on the menu.

                                                      7. Tap on the URL field

After you’ve tapped on “Profile”, you’ll land on your Twitter profile.

Now, you’ll see your Twitter name, username, bio, and more.

Since you’re on the desktop version of Twitter, you’ll be able to copy your Twitter profile link/URL.

To do so, tap on the URL field at the top of the page.

                                                      8. Copy your Twitter profile link

After you’ve tapped on the URL field, you’ll see your Twitter profile link.

Now, you’ll be able to copy your Twitter profile link.

To do so, tap on the URL and tap on “Select All”.

After you’ve tapped on “Select All”, you’ll be given 4 options.

This includes “Cut”, “Copy”, “Paste”, and “Paste and Go” (if you’re using an iOS device).

Tap on “Copy” to copy your Twitter profile link.

You’ve successfully learned how to copy your Twitter profile link/URL!

Finding your Twitter URL is challenging because you won’t be able to do it on the Twitter mobile app.

Instead, you need to use the desktop version of Twitter.

When you visit Twitter on Safari or Chrome, you may be prompted to open the Twitter mobile app.

However, you need to cancel the prompt as you need to visit the desktop version of Twitter.

That way, you don’t have to go through the tedious process of copying your Twitter URL.

How To Change Username And User Profile Folder Name In Windows

The C:Usersusername folder contains the user profile of your account. When you create an account, your system makes a folder with your username on the C:Users directory.

Even if you change your account name, the profile name remains unchanged. Directly changing this name is also impossible if you don’t have admin privileges.

We have created this guide to show you how to safely change the C:Usersusername folder in Windows.

Here is the step-by-step process for changing your C:Usersusername folder in Windows:

You can’t change your user profile name from the same account. You also need administrator privileges. So, log out of the account whose user profile you wish to change and sign in using another admin account.

If you don’t have any other accounts, you need to create a new admin or enable the hidden Administrator.

                                                      For the latter process,

Open Run command box (Win + R).

Enter lusrmgr.msc. It will direct you to the Local Users and Groups Manager.

In the General tab, uncheck the Account is disabled option.

You can also run Command Prompt as administrator and enter net user administrator /active:yes if you prefer using the CLI.

Then, log out of your current account and sign in using the Administrator account.

Changing the user profile name involves more than just altering the folder name. Your system keeps track of the user profiles and their paths in the registry. So, first, you need to change the path through the Registry Editor.

Note: Incorrect modification of the registry causes many system problems. Therefore,

Incorrect modification of the registry causes many system problems. Therefore, back up your registry before executing this process.

Here’s how you can change the User Profile path:

Open the Run dialog box and enter regedit.

                                                      Navigate to: ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList

Alternately, you can enter wmic useraccount get name,SID on the Command Prompt to list all user profiles along with their corresponding SIDs.

Go to the SID of your profile.

Close the Registry Editor and Restart your PC.

Now you can finally rename the C:Usersusername folder. Follow the instructions below to do so:

Sign in with your account (the one where you want to change the profile name).

                                                      Navigate to the C:Users directory.

If you can’t rename the folder, boot into safe mode and try again.

Restart your PC and log in to your account.

There are some loose ends you need to tie up to complete the process. Many registry entries and settings still use the previous profile path.

Your application will run just fine. However, since you have changed the profile path and directory, the previous configurations and saved objects may not be accessible.

You must replace the previous path with the current one in all instances to avoid this issue. You can do so by manually changing the registry settings or creating a symbolic link.

A symbolic link creates a reference to a file or folder in another location. You can make it so that opening a folder in one location opens up another. This method creates a logical replacement for the profile path. To create a symbolic link,

                                                      Launch the Run command.

Type cmd and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to load the elevated Command Prompt.

Enter the command: mklink /d “full path of old user profile” “full path of new user profile” while replacing both of the full paths.

Note: Not all programs follow a symbolic link and thus, result in application crashes. Completely uninstall and reinstall them to fix this issue.

Creating a symbolic link does not actually replace the profile paths. If you don’t want your old username to pop up in any instance, you can try manually changing all the relevant registry entries. Here’s how you can change the entries:

                                                      Open the Registry Editor.

Make sure to tick all options.

Press F3 to find the next instance of the username.

The next step is to rebuild search entries to refer to the new user profile. To do so,

                                                      Launch the Run command.

Enter control chúng tôi It will direct you to the Indexing Options.

                                                      Hit Ok to confirm.

Restart your PC and check if you can use your system normally.

The hidden Administrator account is very useful in debugging many system issues. However, it is disabled by default to prevent any unauthorized changes to your system. Make sure to disable it after changing your user profile name.

If you changed the user profile name, you might also want to change your account name to maintain consistency. There are many ways to modify your User Account name.

One of the easier methods is to use the Local Users and Groups Manager. To use this utility to change your account name,

Enter lusrmgr.msc in the Run command box.

                                                      Go inside Users.

Type the new account name and press Enter.

                                                      Restart your PC.

How To Change Your Iphone Or Ipad Wallpaper With A Single Tap

Changing the Lock and Home screen wallpapers on your iPhone or iPad requires using the Settings app. Wouldn’t it be great if you could change your wallpaper automatically, with a single tap? With wallpaper automation that’s now available in iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3, you can do just that. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use a custom workflow in Apple’s Shortcuts app to automate changing wallpaper with a single tap of a Home screen icon.

This tutorial is based on a video walkthrough from Technical Beardo.

How to change iPhone wallpaper automatically

Before you can have an icon on your Home screen for changing your wallpaper, you’ll need to perform the following actions in this particular order:

                                                      Let’s get to it.

                                                      Allow untrusted shortcuts

Because we’re using a third-party script for the Shortcuts app rather than one of Apple’s own ones, we first need to allow untrusted shortcuts on your device.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Choose “Shortcuts” from the root list.

Slide the switch next to “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts” to the OFF position.

Now the Shortcuts app will allow you to import third-party scripts.

Add wallpapers to a Photos album

Our custom shortcut expects to find wallpaper images in a custom album that we’re going to create in Apple’s stock Photos app.

Open Photos on your iPhone or iPad.

                                                      Touch “Library” at the bottom.

                                                      Hit the “Select” button.

Tap all the images you wish to use as your wallpapers.

Hit the Share icon, then choose “Add to Album” and select your “Wallpaper” album in Photos.

You should now have a brand-new album in Photos, named Wallpaper, containing all the images that you wish to use for wallpaper rotation in our custom shortcut.

                                                      Import the shortcut

With the Shortcuts app set to accept untrusted shortcuts and our Wallpaper album ready in Photos, we’ll now import our custom shortcut that does all the magic.

Open the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad.

Using Safari, navigate to this link.

                                                      Touch the “Get Shortcut” button.

Scroll down and hit the option “Add Untrusted Shortcut”.

The shortcut will be imported to the My Shortcuts section of the Shortcuts app.

                                                      Permission to use Photos

Because this is a third-party shortcut, it needs permission to access your Photos library.

Open the Shortcut app on your iPhone or iPad

Tap “My Shortcuts” at the bottom.

In the “My Shortcuts” section, tap three dots in the “Wallpaper” shortcut’s top-right corner.

Tap “Allow Access” at the bottom, right below the message “This shortcut does not have access to your photos,” then hit OK to confirm the operation.

Our custom script is now allowed to access Photos content.

If you see a message at the bottom of the shortcut details screen saying that “this action could not be found in this version of Shortcuts,” along with an “Update Shortcuts” button, you’re using an iOS or iPadOS version that’s older than 14.3 and this script won’t work for you.

Don’t bother tapping the “Update Shortcuts” option because doing so will simply take you to the Software Update screen in Settings. If you’re not on iOS 14.3 or iPadOS 14.3, then you’ll need to wait until Apple releases these software updates for public consumption.

Add the shortcut to the Home screen

Lastly, we will create a Home screen icon for our custom Wallpaper script so that we can run it by tapping the icon instead of having to navigate to it within the Shortcuts app.

Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.

Touch “My Shortcuts” at the bottom.

Tap and hold the improted Wallpaper shortcut, then choose “Share” from the popup menu.

                                                      Select “Add to Home Screen”.

Customize the shortcut’s Home screen icon and name, then tap “Add”.

You have now created a Home screen icon for your Wallpaper shortcut.

                                                      Use the shortcut

With everything set up and ready to go, we can now use this shortcut. Thanks to the shortcut’s Home screen icon and the changes that Apple has made to the Shortcuts app in iOS and iPadOS 14.3, our shortcut executes silently, without showing you the Shortcuts app first.

So, now every time you tap the Wallpaper icon on your iPhone or iPad’s Home screen, it will change your wallpaper using the images in your Wallpaper album in Photos. That’s also a great way to use iDB’s curated wallpaper collection because now you can simply add any images you like to that Wallpaper album in Photos to have them included in the rotation.

Previously, you had to go to the dedicated Wallpaper section in Settings and hit the option to choose a new wallpaper, then you would navigate your Photos library to find the right image. As you realize, our custom script replaces this multi-step process and is way more elegant.
